I missed that, back then. Unforgivable. Best ever version of Jean-Pierre, by far! Darryl and Sco were so... far ahead.
John Scofield solo never was in my plans , nice.
Man..I remember when this concert came on BET back in the day. I had it taped on VHS...and played this particular song so much on the VCR the tape just snapped. Thank you for posting this...
Bet back in the day laye 90s early 2000 in Philly Jazz fusion Funk Sunday afternoon
Scofield is really responding to that hard funk Jones is feedin' him to the end in a way that can only be described as young and hungry.
One of the hardest grooves ever recorded. #MilesDavis
I just got this on vinyl. It is absolutely brilliant. This is my favorite track. Mind blowing how great they all are
Is is "We Want Miles!"? A great album. Mike Stern is the guitarist on that performance I believe.
1985. Montreal International Jazz Festival. Theatre St. Denis. I was there.
Hi tout le monde !
J'étais présent miles 91 la Villette.
Beau souvenir et plein air.
Love ❤️ this. Work of art Miles Davis 👍
John Scofield is the apotheosis of this song...
My favorite bass line ! Great
Jean Pierre written by Miles Davis and first recorded on October 4, 1981. 9:06
Dark and scary!Haunting!
My absolute favorite 80's Miles band by far.
Sco- guitar
Robert Irving IIII- Synths
Darryl "The Munch" Jones - Bass!!!!!
Vince Wilburn - Drums
Bob Berg - Saxes
Steve Thornton - Percussion
The band of legends! Man that solo at the end!!! Seen this a bunch of times, wish I was there. I only wish you could see the crowds reaction during Sco's solo. 8:35 to 8:50 is just simply incredible. By the way this is the epitome of the prince of darkness. But I know they all learned from Miles, you gotta change after a few years. Thanks for the video
+Blue&Orange Miles learned from them too. Herbie, Ron, Tony, Wayne, Kenny, etc they all taught Miles too.
+Bruce Wickham
Good Point,
Yea that's why he got them in his band, so he could learn too.
I agree!!!the Sco's solo 8:35 to 8:50 is amazing!!!!I still love everything that Scofield plays.
Nice there Daryl Jones
He loved that "organic" delay - Scofield or Berg, Garrett etc. mirroring his line, maybe 60 to 90 milliseconds off. Like a slapback echo, but from a different instrument, and it could go to octaves, fifths etc.
The power of Miles 👍👍👍
Miles4ever!!
makes me cry i was 6 and couldnt be there
I was not even alive yet haha, but i would argue its even better living in a time great concerts like this one and thousands of others are so easilly available.

Once John said, "I wanted to play the guitar like shout by James Brown." He dosen't only succeeded, but also he created John Scofield's shout. One of the best Jazz performance ever. funky!
