- BANGKOK, THAILAND - The Roaming Cook takes me on a street food tour to one of the best Thai street food market in Bangkok to try authentic Thai food at Wang Lang Market. I hope you enjoy this Bangkok Vlog. Thanks to @theroamingcook for joining.
We stopped at three delicious places on the market tour:
1) DE YAI CHUAN CHEEM HOY TOD KATA RON (ตี๋ใหญ่ชวนชิม หอยทอดกะทะร้อน) for Talay Tod, a seafood pancake
Total Cost: 150 THB - £3.50 / $4.15
📍 Location: goo.gl/maps/F2vy3Uhe1UbwfBwM9
2) We ate two dishes of Kanom Jeen at a street side curry shop called KHUN GAN.
Total rice: 90 THB - £2.10 / $2.45
3) The final stop was for amazing Issan food at ORATHAI SEAFOOD.
Total rice: Around 400 THB for everything - £9.30 / $11

Thanks for having me on bud, I had a great time!
Great vid guys. I love this format.
Loved it my man! Thank you!
Cheers! It was a lot of fun to film.
What a legend Gary is! 🙏🏻
That, I cannot deny.
Great video that refects real Bangkok street food.
Thanks Vantida, maybe if you keep practicing, you can build your spice tolerance to a level which will enable you to one day try the som tam yourself.
I love to walk in this market almost 20 years
bc I use to live in the hospital next to this market food there was amazing thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏 to bring a good memory 😅
Oh that’s really cool, I’m happy that you enjoyed it
I’m watching the CZcams 3 times for today in Boston I’m from Sukhothai Thailand I live in USA oh my make me hungry 😋😃
Awesome! Welcome. I need to visit Sukhothai
I love Hoy Tod and personally would never mix it with other seafood. As for the other dishes they are used mainly to flavor your sticky rice and not eaten straight. Thai food is always better in a group setting so you can experience a broader array of flavors and textures. Moving back and forth between dishes and flavors while keeping them separate really excites the pallet.
The talay tod was fantastic though, I can't deny that. I'm a sudker for seafood. As to the others, we ate lots of sticky rice don't worry, we had a good meal together behind the scenes.
I love E-San foods and this VDO clip.
so tasty, right?
@@hungrytoexplore … Yes, that’s right.
For some reason Thai foods always cook with Vietnamese fish sauce and fermented shrimp paste 😊fish sauce originally from Vietnam and fermented shrimp paste
hahah I have a feeling you might get some responses to this comment
Love to see you and Gary together 🎉
he is a great guy
@@hungrytoexplore definitely yes!!!
I normally add sriracha sauce to the fried mussels
That's a good combo! There was some on the table but sometimes when I try something for the first time that I know I'll eat again, I like to try it in its pure state.
Awwwwww…2 handsome dudes together. I love GARY The Roaming Cook!
hahaha thank you! He is a top guy.
Great video mate, one thing I have noticed is the color grading in your videos is somewhat falling apart specially in the dynamic shots making them look kind of cheap and low quality even though they are shot in 4k. anyways thanks for the videos they keep us entertained.
Cheers! Actually those early videos were shot in 1080p and upscaled to 4k. The southern Thailand series and Taiwan was shot in native 4k with a newer camera. Appreciate your support
I did follow before finished watching 555
hahah thank you! Welcome to the channel, I hope you enjoy the videos.
Only Garry could do such a kind gesture by giving exposure to new utube bloggers.
He’s a top bloke, I’m grateful to have met him and made friends with him.
Well done Joe, I loved the way you described the flavours and textures and you had a great companion. Good luck with the channel mate
Cheers Mark, really appreciate the kind feedback. Gary was fantastic! Can't recommend him and that market enough.
Really enjoyed watching this Joe. A great insight for someone like me who doesn't know a great deal about Thai food.
I'm not the expert on thai food either but I certainly like to eat it haha. It doesn't compare to thai food in the UK. Glad you enjoyed.
I followed the link from Gary's video. And you're doing great! Keep up a good work!👍🏻👍🏻
Welcome over to the channel :) I hope you enjoy the videos going forward.
Your food review is as good as Gary’s. I enjoyed both videos.
Haha, I am not sure about that, Gary is the master. Happy to hear that you enjoyed my video too though.
Haha I love pla ra. People are surprised when I say that
Love Isaan food! Even Som Tum Poo Para😋 maybe after a few Leo’s you’ll like it better. 🤣The chicken looks really juicy And the pork salad is now on my list. Thanks Gary 🙏🏽
haha! Gary wasn't the biggest fan, but I loved it. Will definitely be ordering again.
You both are great, you and Gary are cool
Thank you! I am very happy you enjoyed it. It was definitely a fun experience to film with Gary.
This Aussie is back in BKK in November for a week (wish is was longer - but work and maybe next time) - Will have to revisit Wang Lang with the suggestions from Gary and yourself. Now following yourself (as I've been with Gary).
Awesome! Every time I pass through BKK I stay for the week and just eat my heart out. Thanks for subscribing, glad you enjoyed the video.
The crab in somtam sometimes has raw meat left in there, and if you feel adventurous you can suck it out lol. Usually though there will be a separate menu for somtam with crab that has actual meat in them and not the small ones that's just there for flavor.
Haha I'll try that next time I order it. Thanks for the tip, I'm adventurous don't worry.
Youre learning well from Garry:)))
He’s a great role model to learn from!
I'm thai and I eat the crab in somtum!
Really?
@@hungrytoexplore If you like salty taste then yes, you can chew and then suck their meat out(it only has very little meat in there but still good enough). Then when you get all the meat and sause in there out, you just threw the shell out. It actually pretty common for people to chew on those crab
Google maps says Orathai Seafood is permanently closed 😢. I really wanted to try that pork salad.
I am sure that I walked passed it yesterday....
How come, there no green vegetables to a company with the
Papaya dish?
My experience is that it’s not served with greens all the time
In the captions? They are just auto generated from google… that’s why! Sorry!
I subscribed your channel, try to put subtitle in Thai language so more Thai people will come.
Thanks for subscribing. My thai videos should have thai subtitles. It's it not working?
Default captions are in English but if you go to settings, thai subtitles are also available.
Most pickled crabs are eaten raw. It's especially tasty in papaya and other fruit salads. It is usual to portion out the pickled crab. Then, without cooking, add the remaining pound. This is because cooked pickled crabs change the color, smell, and taste of the crab, making them less tasty than unheated pickled crabs.
Tourists should avoid it if this is their first time.
haha yes! otherwise you may get a few issues! I try not to avoid anything though. I love to taste and try everything and always ask for phed phed!
Without Vietnamese fish sauce Thai dish would not taste that great especially the papaya salad
Do you have a helmet to wear? hahaha
He's a great guy!
Sure haha! But I enjoy a spoon of the broth too for flavour :)
Hahaha sorry
