I remember people were freaking out how during KEiiNO's jury performance you saw the cameraman circling the other one, and now it's normal. You also saw tons of stage hands.

Honestly one of the worst productions of the modern ESC time. The broken stage, the two planned water arches at the catwalk that didn't work out either, ugly postcards, weird soundeffects (that weird beep whenever 12 points were announced), camera work was a mess, Maneskin not even performing their winner song, the whole TikTok thing and the pretending to not be able to connect to a few countries during the voting.
And the staff in the arena was really rude and some of them couldn‘t speak a bit of english

This is so embarrassing 😂, mistakes can happen but not that many... The stucked camera looked so bad, they could have changed it live and pick another camera but they just let the CuePilot run as planned and didn't bother.
I thought the same thing. They even had a second cable cam. Why didn't they use it?

it felt like they didn't care... in rotterdam, everything seemed perfect. They even had a camera stuck in the first semi final, but used alternative angles for the rest of the show.
So true. Last year was so perfect and beautiful, this year not only did half the stuff not work to begin with, but most of the things that worked broke before the final lmao

They did care, but you know, it's Italy. They're all over themselves and their coffee rituals.
@@yankis. I am Italian and I don't drink coffee. So no coffee rituals for me. But I am sure you have plenty of other stereotypes on Italians in your mind. For your info, RAI has produced on his own the show, while many other countries as Ukraine, Portugal, have used well trained swedish productions, multicam directors, cameramen. RAI, instead, has decided to make the show on his own. There were mistakes, it was not perfect, but producing a huge production like this one in house is not easy, especially if you don't produce it every year. Anyway, EBU has written a letter to RAI thanking them for the "new levels of expertise and workmanship in the show". It's something the executive producer Claudio Fasulo has told in the backstage video of the Eurovision available in RAIPlay.
@@Relevart9169 Which were, for god's sake, the things that broke during the final? The sun was working, but was too slow for the changeovers. Proof is the sun was moving in all interval acts and during final voting sequence. Problems to connect with voting spokespersons were not real problems of connection but were fake problems as EBU decided the votes from some countries has patterns so were probably frauds. That's why the hosts were informed to tell there was a broken link. That was not fault of RAI but EBU. Some of the countries which votes were flagged as "strange" threatened to initiate a legal action, but they didn't. So maybe EBU was not that wrong. All the rest is bullsh*t.

I liked many of ESC 2022 songs, but the actual contest was just meh. They could've done better job
But it's still interesting to see those fails, because they make each contest unique
It was the worst ESC, technical mess all the time. For me 2021 in Rotterdam was the best produced ESC after Sweden

It was clearly worse than in the past years, I had the impression.
I know, there are some smaller or even bigger fails every year, but this year, it felt significantly more.
Many things either did not work or felt a bit "off". For me, that even includes the clothes and make-up of Laura Pausini at times :D, the non-perfect but super-prominent waterfall in front of the stage, and surprisingly much chaos. :)
Italians aren't well known for being the best hosts tbh they're very friendly and hospitable people, but keeping things in order isn’t their way of doing stuff lol It'd be really hard to beat Rotterdam in the next years, the camera work and the way they organized all the stuff was 10/10
@@0zem We might claim that 2021 is more organized than 2022, but we also found a lot of flaws in the show, mistakes that arise especially on live show programs, and no one is exempt. However, in terms of developing new concepts for the event, 2022 is far better over 2021. Italians know how to make things appealing to others, such as a show with a strong pulse impact on the audience and attract more. Because of they're artistic inclined, these things are conceivable. Remember Diodato's heartfelt act Fai Rumore, Mika's, Il Volo's, Maneskin's, Laura's, and the simple but powerful grand final opener "Give Peace a Chance" That's what 2021 lacked; all I can recall is Damiano's cocaine sniffing drama, but it was simply a rubbish gimmick fake news. These are things to think about for the upcoming Eurovision show: more new appealing concepts and removing the difficult-to-get jokes. They need to win back the lost audience and entice new viewers with a new format and add some spicy drama to talk about. Many people are considering to stay away from eurovision, after the result of the evident enormous vote manipulation, and unfortunately, Eurovision has become a political figure in the recent days.

Liverpool is such an upgrade
I know this video is old, but for everyone: Some Dutch organizations helped during the creating of 2022 ESC. This ESC got in the news because the Dutch organizations found it hard to work with the Italians due to one reason: If there was some problem or something that needed to be done, Dutchies where: "Let's do it now.", but the Italians where: "That will come later, it will be fine.".
And thus, a choppy / incomplete show :)
IKR BBC was Good but AvroTros was still the best along with SVT. Thank god we will go to Sweden because they can PUT on a GREAT show. AvroTros and SVT should host the contest every year with EBU and the hosting broadcaster
The Dutch, “let’s do it now” attitude should be the standard when your making live shows, and the difference it made was evident with the decreased quality of production from 2021 to 2022…
There is camera fail in Albania performance at first semi final. The camera turned her back to stage, I'm sure that was not supposed to happen.
I think they supposed to get the shot of her hand but missed it
After the grand final I thought to myself this is the worst contest production wise since Italy's disastrous attempt of hosting in 1991. From the moving sun background that didn't work, random green room filler when the stage wasn't ready in time, the odd choice of presenters especially Laura and Mika who aren't presenters and it showed with their lack of experience. The whole thing came off as unprofessional and unprepared.
Honestly I didn't mind the hosts
I liked them more than like 2021 I think because they didn't act like complete robots

@@flaccid6pancake Italy's hosts were okay. Mika was awesome. Alexander had not much to contribute and his as well as Laura's English was messy. The jokes were cringe. At least in Rotterdam they did not have to perform some cringe acts/jokes
At 0:14 I recognize the bags that are used in the canteen of my company! 🤣 Unfortunately, Rai's biggest show is Sanremo, with very relaxed times, where camera angles are less difficult and nobody cares if there is a cameraman or the host in the shot. I think they made their best, but the result is still below Eurovision average.
@Rock First, your english is sh*tty. Check the verbs. Second, the host city is a city, not a broadcaster. So RAI is the only broadcaster in Italy who can do the job. Other countries have used foreign productions from sweden. Check the end titles of the various eurovision. In most of them you can find the same swedish multicam directors. Same swedish, german or dutch steadycamers who did 4 or 5 eurovisions. Here all the production crew was Italian, and was the first time doing the Eurovision. For your info the two multicam directors have never directed 24 cameras before. Sanremo works on 9 to 11 or 12 cameras. It was not perfect. But it was not bad as someone is depicting it. Yes, there were bad camera cuts, bad shots, but the hosts were much better than other. More funny, friendly, and they were all doing an opening or interval act, singing or dancing.
The chair I cannot lol but the camera work actually gave me a headache.

Comparing this now to Liverpool, that Eurovision was even worse than right after the show. Holy. There was not a single fail in Liverpool, not a single time a rehearsal had to be redone because something failed. The trivia part on wikipedia is empty. Not scandals or shocks...

Eurovision 2022, Turin was easily one of the biggest embarassements as NOTHING WORKED! Not even the stage which they had a whole year to properly design!

No songs I disliked (in 2021 i disliked Slovenia Sweden Australia Cyprus Croatia Belgium San Marino Estonia Moldova Georgia Spain and UK) more songs i downloaded. I will say there were a handful of 2021 songs I loved more than any in 2022 but for me 2021 was too filled with girly uptempo pop. Its not a genre I'm very fond of. There are exceptions and the ones I like I tend to love but 2021 had no such song for me.

The wrong camera during the semifinal "start voting now" was due to the presence of MBD with the hosts, the multicamera directors had to switch to another camera. All the not-moving cameras weren't shown in the live broadcast but only in the rehearsals. The chair was indeed a funny mistake, I remember that I laughed when I saw it

The broken camera during the final was caused by the fact that a cable fell down from the roof 5 minutes after the start of the show. If you want to see some videos, I can send them to you.

I also wanted to add that during Albanias performance thr camera at one point swung out accidentally and showed a random view of the wide camera. Let’s also not forget so many countries and it’s artists were robbed this year by that huge broken sun in the back that didn’t even show 95% of the incredible staging plus they messed with the mics of so many artists. For example if you look at a audience recorded video of Ronelas from Albania performance you could see the absolutely incredibly expensive gorgeous flirtatious staging she chose and how perfectly timed it was and you can hear that she sang very differently in the arena then what the microphone portrayed infact most of the singers had very different vocals in the arena then what was portrayed on our televisions. Italy can never host again, and the winner I’m sorry but I don’t have to like ukraines song to support them. I support Ukraine but the victory at Eurovision was not deserved and this year was all politics, from non qualifications to the winner. Sorry but Italy supposedly messed up in 1991 and they did again this time.
What you're hearing on TV is actually a way clearer version of what the singer was singing tho, as it's what's picked up by the mic they (and whatever backing vocals) are singing
In the arena, a lot of it is "improved" by that lack of clarity and the fact that the crowd is helping by singing along a lot. Basically what's happening is you hear what you think you hear (and usually that's more toward something you'll like hearing rather than not) because your brain fixes the sound so that it's not a garbled mess of voices
It can't do that with clearer vocals, it hears what it's supposed to (which can be not that great)
That said, what killed Ronela was her performance. She took it too far in what is, after all, a family show, and the juries punished the heck out of it
Turin 2022 was a mess... from the first ever rehearsals I knew it would be a mess
I felt wayyy more hype in Rotterdam 2021 and that was only WATCHING THE GRAND FINAL after rediscovering what Eurovision was at the time...

you know there's actually one camera error that i found during the 2nd semifinal of eurovision 2018 where the operator briefly switched cameras to in which you would see the feet of a crowd for a second in the middle of the interval act
True. Although Portugal did a much better job than Italy and it was their very first time hosting the contest. I just wish the hosts were only Filomena and Daniela (with no disrespect to the other two)

Honestly, Italy did better than in 1991 even with all the mistakes. 1991 was probably the worst ever in terms of production.

@@achnix3167 agreed, the expectatives were far higher then the outcome for me.
Because of the fast pace of the show, and as an ordinary televiewer, we haven't noticed the flaws and seems that are part of the show, because our goal is only to enjoy watching the it and feel the diversity of Eurovision can give, even though we are aware of the rumors of broken kenetic sun, but the show ended up spectacular. There are many new formats that have never been seen before. We never regretted spending nearly $50 box to watch all three finals via online live streaming, and it was well worth our money.

I missed all but three or four of those (the German flag and the quest for the Australian delegation come to mind).
To be honest I think the shaky shots gave it a bit of livelihood to the show to show that not everything is perfect
Guys, let's be honest: cameras can get broken every time, and it's definitely hard to replace them or to repair the issue during a live show that was already programmed at second. Also, the water effects can be really dangerous.
What really pissed me off was the sun malfunctioning. Practically, instead of seeing the back of it almost the entire show, maybe it would have better to get rid of it. It was useless, and EBU and RAI should have announced the delegations way earlier that there is a slight possibility for the sun to be unusable at its designed capacity and speed. How do you create a backup plan in two or three days??? I know that some delegations had to change graphics in order to fit the remaining parts of the led screen and to integrate (somehow) that useless black sun.
I don't argue with the Italian show production, but I think everyone expected more from Italy as a BIG 5 country and with all the Sanremo experience during the years.

It was clearly obvious how the camera in the ceiling was for Plan B when they couldnt switch to the correct one
No, that was actually the same camera but it was stuck. There's proof in the final cuepilot files. The camera number is the same. The cable that the camera was attached to in order to move broke just before the show so they had no plan B ready and they decided to just use the shot of the stuck camera since you can still kinda see the stage.
Well. I was in the audience close to that camera (ring 2, cat. 1, settore 2018, row 1, seat 17) Five minutes after the start of the show, a cable that was connected to the camera, fell down from the roof. I have pictures of this on my Instagram page, and if you want i can send you videos of it too. The camera didn't move anymore after this accident. The crew tried to fix it, but they were not able to do it. During the entire show a cable just hang in the middle of the arena... It was very weird.
I know it must be difficult following two amazing contests but I expected better from Italy
About the wide shots from the stuck railcam on the ceiling, keep in mind the video feed is programmed during performances, and since the camera got stuck between the live show and the family show just a few hours prior, it would've been impossible to replace those shots for every song. On the other hand, when the video mixer is manually operated in between performances... Would like to know what went through the director's head when he switched to the chair 🤣🤣🤣
Well, in 2021 first semi a similar camera fail
happened and they reprogrammed all the songs in under a minute during the performance of Sweden (by replacing the broken cam with an alternate angle)
@@eftelcraft4664 Well it might be possible in the software to replace all references of a camera to another one then, I stand corrected. Rai unfortunately didn't fully realize Eurovision is in an entire different league than Sanremo technically. Though, from my italian POV I'm still confident in saying it could've gone way worse than what we got😂they probably did their best, I'm sure if they were to host again they'd learn from their mistakes, starting from the stage

given all the controversies about the organization (I can understand the staff of the arena were not kind and this is not good or that they did not speak English perfectly, but it must be calculated that they are all volunteers or almost) you try to manage this mass of live show since you are very good.Then Italy at this point would do well to leave again and then ask again to return.The spirit with which Eurovision was born has been lost now it's just a business and stop and people argue about each edition. i genuinely enjoy the show, sometimes i might not like a winner very much but with that i enjoy the show and overlook any mistakes or problems.And by the way it's the first year I've cheered against a state precisely because both in some live chats and elsewhere they only said mean things against Italy etc. On the other hand, I'm happy for every singer there because she's come a long way to be there and so I just hope they give their best and I also say that at least 1 point each deserves it because it's bad to see singers with zero points :-(. Having said that, less controversy

They are, you can search the broadcast up and you'll find them all!
Italia was terrible at hosting and bad cameramen and what a disappointment for Ronela didn’t entered the Sabato grand finale
Their plan B worked well, and the show ended up being somewhat spectacular. Expect some difficulties from the crews in a live show, and there is no such thing as a perfect live show, with cameras positioned incorrectly even at the Oscars and Super Bowl. This year, thankfully, there were no stage invaders or minor incidents, and all props and performances were meticulously planned. Give a little respect to those who worked really hard to give us a show like this after more than 2 years of covid devastation to our ESC World, just a little if you have a heart.
@@lovetarugo3535 Rotterdam 2021 did great hosting after the pandemic tho without random and messy shots. Italy tho didn't even bother to correct the messy angles in the grand final fully knowing it on 1st & 2nd semis.

@@jomarieblanca5197 Out of my curiosity, many are comparing the 2021 to the 2022 show, and this is what I figured. In terms of global CZcams viewership, 2022 outnumbered 2021. The best show used to be determined by its viewing figures. For 13 months, 2021 saw 16,549,410 views, while 2022 saw 16,564,088 views in just 5 weeks. Why is this so? According to them, 2021 was superior to 2022. No comments because the figures said it so.

If you watch Serbian performance in Grand final, in the last shot when the lart prt of lirycs is said, there was something stuck to the camera ant it was moving around, idk how to explain it but you can watch it yourself

This might be the reason why the juries doesn't want RAI to host Eurovision. The production this year is worst than Tallinn 2002. And the only reason why 2002 is not good is because the production felt outdated.

Their plan B worked well, and the show ended up being somewhat spectacular. Expect some difficulties from the crews in a live show, and there is no such thing as a perfect live show, with cameras positioned incorrectly even at the Oscars and Super Bowl. This year, thankfully, there were no stage invaders or minor incidents, and all props and performances were meticulously planned. Give a little respect to those who worked really hard to give us a show like this after more than 2 years of covid devastation to our ESC World, just a little if you have a heart.

@@siriusblack8786 The worst ESC show, winner, and organizer, I heard these words every year and nothing had changed, see what 2021 is still suffering from the shit criticism thrown at them. That's what Eurovision is all about: feasting on insults and rumors. We cannot blame the broadcaster hosts nowadays; their goal is to maximize profits rather than provide a high-quality show due to the high costs and risk of losing audience share as many people lose interest in watching it. Thankfully, this year saw an unexpected influx of tourists to cover the city host's massive expenses, as opposed to last year, which saw no tourists and no Eurovision village due to covid restrictions, resulting in a significant loss for the host. This year, the ESC hype has returned, which I am happy with.

After watching the Junior Eurovision 2022 it was better organized than this. This looks like an off brand version of ESC 2014 and 2015

I got to say that I liked the show. Yes, it was a mess and EBU (and RAI) did things wrong. For example the sun and the camera problems. however, when I was there during the first semi-final I truly enjoyed it.
BBC will hopefully do better.

Even in spite of Sam Ryder, I have so little love for Turin 2022 it's embarrassing. So much about the production was just wrong, and frankly RAI should be thoroughly embarrassed at putting such a car crash production out. It wasn't quite as bad as Rome, but Jesus Christ there were some major shortcomings.
These are things even very small broadcasters wouldn't allow to happen, let alone AVROTROS, the BBC or SVT.

this 😭 the camera work was awful this year, and especially on Slovenia in the semi final? like what was that? just zoomed in on their faces and repeated the same shots over and over.. so many good songs this year that were ruined by the terrible camera work
