  • A 300-year-old town in the northern Philippines has resurfaced after it was submerged for the construction of a reservoir 50 years ago. A drought which has lasted for months and extreme heat in recent weeks have caused water in the dam to dry up.
Al Jazeera's Barnaby Lo reports from the ruins of Pantabangan.

I recall that video in Thailand(?) where flooding occurred over a cemetery. The coffins / caskets had trapped air inside them so they floated up and floated away with the flood leaving behind their unearthed graves with perfectly deep rectangle shape. Creepy.

i was shocked when the whole area resurfaced because ofthe extreme drought this year cause since 74 it never really reached this low ever this is the very first time, the past extreme droughts only shown the area around the chapel but as you can see on the video almost the whole pantabangan was visible even the part near the original small river on the side of pantabangan is showing up

dont worry too much people. yes we are experiencing draught. yes crops have failed to yield. its a yearly thing. the govt already had back up food supply. WE ALL NEED TO ADAPT. WE ARE GOOD AT THAT!
i suggested copying what the indian villagers did to harvest rainwater on their land and farms. we watched the videos. it looks promising.
only thing stopping us are... a few mayors and a few brgy captains who wants credit and money from this project. lol. i mean we dont even know how effective this is to the philippine climate and landscape. we'rer not making any money. we just only watched the Indian water harvesting method! but the leaders just dont get it. hahay!

That happens because of corruption, Philippines is reach in water but the problem is corruption billions of pesos being corrupted instead of spending them to add more DAM and improved irrigation system to minimise the effects of El Nino, that's why from 1970s same problem up to now the Filipinos always suffering the droughts when El Nino hits the Philippines
