Yes indeed, when I start up the old 72 Snow Flite, you know winter is on the way! :) I am still working on my snow plow also, but didn't get much done today tinkering with the latest 5 horse from the scrapyard.

We have snow here where I am, but not enough for a snowblower, easier to just shut 'er down and wait 'til the rain comes back in the coming week... :P

LOL, they should still have a few plows, since even 1 snow plow can clean many streets, if you keep it going around the clock! I only use the snow blower when there is at least 6" or more snow. By the time I move the stuff out of the way in the shed, blow a path to the driveway, then do the driveway and sidewalk, it is just easier to shovel it. Though I am hoping for another option building my snow plow, hopefully I can park it in the car port, and just start it up and do some plowing, avoiding the shed altogether. I just have to see how well it will actually work plowing, and find something to chain it down to, so it doesn't get nicked ! It is a larger model than I wanted, thought trimming it back a few inches in width would be a bit of a pain. I nee a SNOW BULL, too bad they cost like $3200 canadian :( They are a plow with tracks, so it wouldn't have a traction problem.

Back in the 70s we had a Sears outlet store that sold surplus items and items that were being phased out. For some reason they had sent a snow blower to the main Sears store here; we don't get snow. However, one of my relatives was visiting from Chicago and he got the snow blower less than half price! I guess it would have cost Sears too much to ship somewhere else, and would've had to discount it anyway because the chute had a dent in top (which pounded out easy with a rubber mallet). I was about 12 years old and had never seen a snow blower before.

LOL, yes a snow blower wouldn't be of much use where there is no snow! I guess lawnmowers and Roto-tillers are more universal since most places have grass and dirt. (Though some places are too dry to grow grass without an irrigation system). That relative got a real steal of a deal on the snow blower!

You bet, yes, the gasoline blend changes a few times a year. I remember trying to start a snow blower with summer gas at -25C about -15F, it had electric start, but still wouldn't go. I siphoned out the gas tank, drained the car . bowl , put in brand new fresh winter gas, and Vroom it started right up. That taught me a lesson about winter gasoline!
