Don't buy property, don't start a business, don't stay in the country for more than 6 months to avoid the tax, don't bring any more money than you need into the country, don't get married and don't trust anyone. Follow all these rules and you will be fine. Ignore them at your own peril.

Wish I could proudly brag about US citizens being able to own a Thai business with 100% ownership... but after that debate last night, I'm anything but proud.

I, having lived here for 13 years don't know why people want to open business in Thailand, I really just don't see why you would bother, you are not going to, in the most likely of cases make any real money, if you were financially well off you would just take your money and live an awesome life in Thailand

I know American business owners here that still went the Thai partnership route. The 100% rule sounds great but i wonder how hard it is in reality that some still avoid it. Just because it exists doesn't mean that it's also practical.

I think it's really difficult to give advice on tax and visa matters. It always ends up depending too much on each individual personal situation.
How about if I work online or have an online business ?

If I use my credit card will I be charged tax’s in Thailand or can I circumvent this all with my credit card?
That's do not generally take credit cards. Except for large hotels, McDonald's, 7/11, etc.
What would you be using it to pay for? I use my CC in Thailand all the time. I'm not sure what you mean by 'tax' do you mean a tax in your home country or in Thailand?

Huh. I'm 2 minutes in and I think he has already said something which is incorrect. He said a foreigner cannot be the largest shareholder in a Thai company. I believe this is incorrect. It's true that a foreigner cannot own more than 49%, but he can still be the largest shareholder. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong?
