    Hi, Sarah. I am a current 2nd year JET and I think you really made an informative video about the JET Programme. I agree with the things you said. There will be highs and lows as an ALT, but you just have to keep an open mind and be ready to take on any challenge that might be thrown at you. So far, I have been enjoying my simple ALT life in rural Japan and I will never regret participating in the program. Good luck on your application.

      Jan Angela Maravilla, thank you so much! I’m really happy that you consider my video informative, being a second year JET yourself. It means a lot :) I’m glad to hear you’re still in the Program as well! I hope to experience the lifestyle you’re living soon!

    Thanks for making such a thoughtful, lovely video. I especially appreciated the positive quotes you included from the former JETs on reddit. They really resonated with me personally. I have been really annoyed lately at the number of negative videos regarding teaching English in Japan and yours was such a breath of fresh air for me :). Thanks again!

    Jet program was the best three years of my life. Worked as an ALT, mainly in junior high schools in Ibaraki. Yes it was challenging but the experience was worth it.

    This was actually really informative and inspirational. I have a few years left until I get my bachelor's and I've been thinking if applying for the JET program would be a good idea or not. Thank you for making my decision a little easier!

    I'm an ALT in Tokyo. I hope you are able to go, as you seem to have such a love and passion for Japan. Ganbatte and good luck on your degree. Japan is just now reopening and will need lots of replacement ALTs for all the people that left before/during the pandemic, so hopefully you will have great timing.

      Hi! i was just wondering, after your JET course are you able to continue living and working as an ALT in japan. Sorry if its a silly question, i myself have also been wishing to apply so im just curious as to if it is strictly a 3 year course and thats it. Thank you and i hope you're enjoying it!

      @@usagi141 I believe for JET if you school and contracting organization are impressed with you, they may invite you to recontract up to 5 years. 1-3 years is just the most typical and common. As for looking for a job after JET to stay in Japan, you have to research the visa types and rules on how to obtain them. I seem to remember for usa there was an issue where you had to fly back to the usa in order to change visa types, but I am not certain on that.

    I'm currently trying to get my GED at a college and they said I could get my foot in the door for a low (to no) cost 2-year Associates. If they require 4 years, I might be out of luck.

      I want to go into it with the intention of garnering a relationship with Japan so I can attend medical school there. Surely there will be a lot of fun and interesting stuff there but I’m not thinking it’s going to be sunshine and daisies every day.

    It’s the wage that really sucks when USDJPY is 157 yen to the dollar. You don’t even make $2000 usd clear. How are JETs supposed to pay off their student loans with wages that pay less than a high school drop out makes working at McDonalds in California for $20 or ¥3140 an hour?

    Do they care about tattoos?

    • @digitalrainbow3894
      @digitalrainbow3894 Před 3 lety +3

      I think that depends on where you will be placed. To give an example (from what I know) hot springs will sometimes deny people with tattoos. But most places don't care.
      I know a hotspring isn't a school xD but I hope I could help you out a little.

      It depends. Most of the schools I worked had a negative view, however I made friends with a PE teacher at one school and during a conversation with him he said my tattoos were no big deal. So I got to swim with the students (who were more interested in swimming than my tats).
