- This episode we leave the van at Archer River Roadhouse and join the tag along tour to Iron Range National Park on the East Coast of Cape York. Don’t skip this epic part of Cape York when heading to the tip!
This is an environment unlike anywhere else on the Cape, with its spectacular rainforest, unique wildlife and pristine tropical beaches! We explore Iron Range National Park, visit the historic town of Portland Roads, devour fresh seafood on Chilli Beach and enjoy some fantastic 4WDing along the east coast tracks with water crossings, mountain ranges and beach driving.
Plus we visit the local community in Lockhart River, and take in the fascinating WW11 history of the region.
If you’re dreaming of tackling Cape York and towing your caravan to the tip of Australia, this series will show you how to get yourself and your equipment up and back safely without damage or breaking anything! There’s so much more to this incredible part of Australian than epic 4WD tracks and crazy river crossings, and we’re excited to share the beauty of Cape York with you!

Take me back !! Loved the Cape. Our first visit was in our HQ Holden on the Endeavour Rally 2009 .. we do it again 2017 with a group of friends. Chilli Beach was a favourite as was Loyalty Beach. So amazing.

We loved Lockhart River Beach, Chilli Beach too. Weipa was an amazing place to enjoy and restock. I’m glad you are enjoying the Cape! It’s a favourite place of ours.

Hi from New Zealand. Well another great show with stunning scenery, pity you can't swim in the sea. great information you give. We went to the RV caravan show in Hamilton NZ. Interesting As there is only the 2 of us we like the configuration of the caravan, far end the D bed then bathroom then kitchen and by the door the club lounge. There was no Zone caravans but Titanium and Jayco and other Australian caravans alongside NZ and English were there. There was outback tracks ground dog awning anker kits there. Keep the happy trails going. Thanks Jono P

Wonderful episode Paul, Katie and Jasper, showing all the beautiful spots in the Cape! Brings back memories for me when I stayed 2 weeks at Iron Range NP studying endemic parrots as part of a research group. It really is a bird/nature lovers paradise. Portland Roads was also a favorite as was Chilli Beach although our visit was when it was very windy! Lockhart river was also lovely and we were fortunate enough to have a tour into the traditional indigenous lands with a wonderful indigenous guide. So lucky! Stunning part of the world. Weipa looked beautiful - haven't been on the western side of the Cape. Thank you for your wonderful recap of this part of the Cape... looking forward to seeing the tip of Aus through your eyes! :)

I was telling my daughter about your competition today and I said all I want is some ground puppies, not much use us entering as we have an suv not a Ute. She nearly jumped on me as they have a Ute and so I told her she has to subscribe to enter.
Hahaha! That’s great 😃 imagine now that you have to buy a new Ute to make way for the canopy 🤞

Do you have to have 4WD to get to the top end? Were planning on buying an older sprinter van for our lap.
That’s sounds like you guys have some great plans coming together - our advice definitely yes to a 4WD to go to the top of the cape - however you can literally explore most of the highlights of our country without that also - if it’s possible to get a 4WD vehicle that still works with your plans then you have a little more freedom to get off the bitumen and a little more remote - safe travels and enjoy every minute 🇦🇺🏕️🍻
