- I am a big fan of Japanese makeup brushes, also known as fude. They have dramatically changed the way that I apply makeup, making it much easier for me to create more complex makeup looks while also providing a more luxurious makeup application experience. When I first started buying fude brushes about a year ago, I found it quite difficult to figure out how to get started, so I wanted to create this video today explaining what makes fude so special, the different bristle types used in fude, and some of the popular brands.

Wonderful introduction! Thank you! Just got my first instillation from Fude!
Thank you for explaining Fude brushes. It was extremely helpful.
You’re welcome! :)
wow thank you so much, after listening to you I feel the brushes are so special.
This video was excellent! Thanks for sharing all the information. It was incredibly helpful.
Thanks for watching! :)
This is the best explanation of Japanese brushes I’ve seen. Thank you!
Thanks so much! :) When I first started looking into Japanese brushes, it was so hard for me to find answers to my questions, so I’m really glad the video was helpful!
@@areteanbeauty I’ve been checking out your channel since this video popped up on my feed and you have fabulous content! I’ll binge watch. You deserve way more followers and they will come. You’ve done well for such a brief time on CZcams.
Thanks so much!
very detailed information on the fude. Suscribed!
Thanks! :)
Wonderful introduction to fude brushes!
Thanks so much! :)
I am a huge Rephr fan! I appreciate this video it truly was helpful. I would love to see you do an update on the new Rephr brushes. I own every single one of Rephr’s brushes. And all of their other products. I don’t understand why somebody would go with synthetic versus natural hair. Anyways, I have the minis in the Maxis, which I love and I have their Saibihoko original & B. For Christmas I bought all my adult children their sheets; which everyone loves. I love their towels I love their skin care and their storage units. I just love everything about them. I’m not sure if I’m ready to try another brand I feel like it might be a betrayal 😢😮😊❤
Thanks for your comment! Glad to hear you’ve enjoyed their sheets and towels! I haven’t tried those yet, but I’ve been curious. The last Rephr video I did featured their mini eye brushes and Saibihoko original-I’ve continued to really enjoy those since that filming! The mini eye brushes have especially become my go-tos.
Hi, I’m newer to the fude brush world. This video was SUPER helpful! Thank you so much for breaking it all down! This is the first video of your’s I’ve watched, do you have a cleaning & storing video?
Glad it was helpful! I don’t, but I’ve been thinking about doing a video on that at some point. :) My routine is pretty simple - I wash my brushes around once a month with Dr. Bronners liquid soap (unscented) and store them in a drawer.
This video is very helpful! I wish i had realized that there are better fude brushes out there than Rephr before i invested in a number of them (they're also pushed heavily by youtubers that i follow). What is on your wishlist for the Beautylish event?
Glad that it was helpful! I’m eyeing some more WG eye brushes (17, 18, 19, 20), pencil brushes (either Chikuhodo Z-10 or SG pencil pro) and some cheek brushes (SG cheek pro, Chikuhodo T-4 and GSN-2, WG 12). I’ll probably just buy 1-2 in each category.
@@areteanbeauty please do a haul and share your thoughts once you receive them 🙏
Wow thanks to algorithms I came across this post. Very informative!!! I am going crazy trying to decide on brushes. One minute I want to invest in Hakohodo, Chicohodo, Goss, Sonia G and Rehpr and then back to Hakohodo! The S series with the red handles are gorgeous! This may sound crazy but I am not even a make up artist, I have not worn make up in a while and at 62 would like to get back to helping my day look! So I am not looking to by multiple brushes or even sets. I like the fact you mentioned WG brushes for hooded eyes... my upper lids have drooped. Any other brands for hooded eye brushes? Thanks.
Thanks so much for watching! I’ve mostly used Wayne Goss, Sonia G., and Chikohodo brushes. My favorite eye brushes are from Wayne Goss, and my favorite face brushes are from Sonia G. Rephr’s concept store is good if you’d like to try out some brushes at a more affordable price. The Rephr #14 is pretty good for hooded eyes.
Wow such informative video. I own many many (if not most) Sonia G brushes and a couple of Wayne Goss brushes too. I recently also started loving Rephr brushes, I own two sets of their core collection, one for travel as I don’t want to travel (whenever that will be lol) with my precious Sonia and Wayne brushes. Do you happen to know if these fude brushes are ethically made without harming any animals?
That’s a good question! I tried looking into this when I was making this video, but wasn’t able to get definitive information. Goats can definitely have their hair removed without harming them, but I’m not sure how it works with squirrel hair brushes. Given the importance of the hairs being in good condition, I hope that the animals themselves would be in nice conditions.
@@areteanbeauty same here, when I got into natural hair brushes in early 2020 I searched but found little to none about that info. I hope so too that no animal is hurt in the process.
Hi, I have a very sensitive skin. So does it mean I should go with squirrel brushes?
It’s worth trying! Personally I mostly use goat hair brushes nowadays since they give me more control (since they are slightly stiffer), but if you find makeup brushes often irritate your skin, squirrel is a good way to go
Is hakuhudo a good brand?
I haven’t personally tried their brushes, but I’ve heard they are a pretty good brand
