Six years ago, I was watching this video. I had a strong conviction that the boy would stand out. Six years have passed, and Eli is now confirmed for the 2024 CT. Looking at this video again, it's evident that it was all predictable from the start. It's quite likely that we will see him become a world champion. Congrats Eli!!!
I grew up with Slater in Florida in the 80's. We knew what was coming. This kid walks on water! Can't wait for the future!

My dad started surfing in the Mid. 1950's myself 1975. both of us taken aback. Progression. (John John, Andy, Slater, Curren, Occy, Foo, Horan, Carroll, Gerry, Buttons,Thompson, MR, Dora, Dewey, Kunze, Velzy, Noll and Eddie.)off the top of my head. I've surfed with all except Dale and Eddie. I'm booking a flight to Lahaina Town soon, My old bones need to see this. WOW

The standouts of every generation are getting better and better, doing things that were impossible a few years back. I guess board design is the main reason and also improving on what others are doing. I started surfing in 1972, I’m old and shot now. How I wish we had today’s boards back then.

very lucky to be able to surf because I'm in the surf. I've tried windsurfing but it's not nearly as exciting as real surfing. I'd been surfing for a long time just because the waves in Hungary aren't so big it's true you can travel to another country but we don't have that much money.

He is not already John John, he physically needs to develop still and develop more power. Exceptional talent no doubt but there is a lot of it around these days, a highlight reel and working for a world title are two different things.

I don't think anyone realised he used the same board for weak small 1 foot waves to well over 20 feet wave, the kid is a legend and the shaper doesnt get nearly enough credit, he is as amazing!
