I think mapex drums have a fantastic sound that speaks for themselves. I've played a variety of different mapex kits downtown Nashville and all the series sounds great. The heads are beat to shit cause a good amount of drummers play them ever night but the tone is still there. I'm not an endorser or biased in opinion just giving an account of my experiences with the drums. Its a pleasure to watch such a fantastic drummer such as Derico show them off and the potential they have.
This guy knows how to sell a drum kit.
If you're paying $1000-1500 more for DW collectors the only things you're buying is status and hype. These Black Widows are bad ass drums.

PowersOnDrums yeah I’ll take a Tama Silverstar, tama superstar custom or superstar classic, tama starclassic BB, maple or Bubinga, or the tama stars over any of the same level price points of any other company. Mapex is getting better but nobody can compete with the hardware innovation and build quality and sound and feel of all Tama Drums. I have a Tama Silverstar as gigging kit which is priced amazingly
For what you get. I also have a tama starclassic BB hyperdrive kit with the new updated hardware brought down from the star series like the quick lock brackets and air cushioned floor Tom legs and swivel wing mounting system. Can’t beat that.
Andy Ham - I agree with you on the quality aspect of Tama, as i've owned some vintage Superstar Tama drums which were amazing. However, some of Tama's pricing is extremely odd. You can get a great and sturdy boom cymbal stand for under$120, yet their clamp on attachment cymbal arms are $60?!? I don't get it. Some of their stuff is way over priced.

Great sounding drums and dude, you are a monster player. What I like the best is that all the toms and floor toms have matching tonal qualities. They all match in tone. Not many kits have that quality.

just got the white widow today, after having a saturn, i loved my saturn kit, but this widow kit is awesome, so tuneful, the tuning range is big so i think its more flexible than the saturn.
how nice are those sonic saver hoops on all the drums? Love them. I have the Black Widow kit. Sold my Saturns, soon after I bought the Black Widows
Mapex rly are some of the best sounding drums. To my ears it's mapex, sonor, and Yamaha/Sakae for the best sounding drum companies. DW def has the nicest finishes. They make masterpieces by unfortunately I don't find that sweet tom sound I like with them often.
I would include Tama in that group too. My gig kit is a Tama starclassic birch bubinga. SWEEET
I disagree. I have a Saturn V exotic and a DW collector’s series. DW is definitely the superior kit. People just hate on DW like they do the Yankees and Lakers.

No I don't "love to comment on every drum video on CZcams" but I do love drums and I'm very passionate about it! There are many videos I watch and don't comment. If I feel inclined to say something, positive in nature, then I say it. That's what the whole idea of this platform. If I feel negative about something, or someone, I generally won't say anything about it (unless I'm standing in front of the person), There's far too much negative slander on youtube and the world in general.

Man I’d love to be picked up by Mapex lol, I’ve always wanted to get a black Panther kit but I’ll have to stick with my Mapex pro m for now lol. That black widow kit is the truth, and you playing it makes it sing! Now the floor Tom leg spring it comes on my two floor toms.. all 3 legs have some give to each.. but I’m rocking some custom sizes too... (16in and 18in floor toms) but the legs are bouncy and the bass drum ((20x20) is a virgin bass and sounds like a cannon. I was very surprised at how great the 18in deep kick sounded on the black widow! I’d love to see some clear heads on there and jam away! Beautiful kit and thank you for sharing
These sound better, than many far more expensive kits.
I’m not sure if these are still being made, as a new line of Black Panthers are out and Mapex has discontinued some previous lines.

I've always heard negatives reviews from some friends of mine but I love the sound in Periphery and Lamb of God or even this video.... and the quality seems to be good. Mapex doesn't build $5000 or more kit. That's all. Do the sell coffee with each kit? :D What do you guys think?

I hate the fact that I can only drool over kits as beautiful as this. I can get the money for it but it just breaks my heart to spend way too much on a kit especially I'm not a professional drummer by any chance.

dw drums don't tune as well or any other drums for that matter. the special bearing edge is what makes these drums sound so good and because of the special bearing edge; they are also louder too! if you can afford a dw kit they look really nice but beyond that; your only paying for really good finishes and shotty bearing edges!
you cant tell that they sound that good or not; they are made out of the same drum material that dw's are made out of; your just biased.
