    EDIT: Ashraf is GAME DIRECTOR, NOT Creative Director. Jean Guesdon is Creative Director.
    Thank you so much for your patience guys, it took me a while to get around to doing this. I had to do stuff with my room, I was transitioning from PS4 to PS4 Pro, so that took me longer than anticipated, and I finally got to make something. I'm a little rusty as far as my video skills go, but hopefully I get that back some.
    I'm pretty interested in AC Origins, and I'd love to see what more the devs will show off with regard to it.

      Also about the PS4 Pro:
      Notice any difference with the PS4 Pro so far?
      How much did you have to pay on top of the trade?
      Was backing up everything a pain in the arse? (although I guess it isn't too hard, just need the save files because you can just use the discs to reinstall the actual games)
      Edit: Sorry, I have a lot of questions for discussion. Been away from my computer for a long time.

    • @LeoKRogue
      @LeoKRogue Před 7 lety +2

      1. A few, but not many until I get a sick TV. The power and eject buttons are not ACTUAL CLICKY BUTTONS instead of being touch-sensitive. This is amazing. Games that chugged or struggled to run smoothly on base PS4, now run smoothly. Unity is... Somewhat enjoyable now! :D Somewhat. (Better than before.) I really appreciate being able to just hit "unlock framerate" on the games that support it. Running games at higher framerates is kind of a big deal to me and this was a relatively cheap way to give myself that, without completely changing the "environment" or "ecosystem" within which I do my work. SHAREfactory might be a hilarious tool to go srs bsns video editing with, but it's *my* tool and I know it well. I know it better than *most* people, I'd say, so it's useful that I can keep on using it.
      2. I paid $240 CAD on top of the trade.
      3. Backing everything up was not such a pain in the ass, I got PSPlus and uploaded by Saves to the Cloud. Then I just reinstalled what I needed and dragged my Saves back down.
      No need for apology, I enjoy answering questions and comments. :D If I get to them, I get to them. If I don't, I don't.

    My one issue with one of your comments--the one about how you'd like Bayek's distraction tool to be an arrow--is that unlike using rocks or items, an arrow would make an enemy totally aware that they are being attacked. It is a weapon after all.
    Also, AC Syndicate already did this. You could use your throwing knife to lure guards.

    • @LeoKRogue
      @LeoKRogue Před 7 lety +10

      I know that, and I thought about that, but I decided to just let it slide. It is a videogame, after all, and in Tomb Raider Lara uses Arrows to distract enemies plenty of times. It just depends on what devs are willing to give us. It doesn't have to be Arrows, Arrows would just be super easy.
      Using your Throwing Knife to lure guards is inconsistent as hell in Syndicate but other than that, I'd be down to have it back. It doesn't matter so much to me *how* they do it, but give me a distraction-item or don't call yourself a stealth game.
      Ideally we would be able to distract enemies with more than one tool / mechanic, as, again, one of the defining traits of a systemic stealth game is the ability to use everything you have in multiple, creative ways. As long as it works within the physics of the game-environment, a player should be permitted to do it. Crossbow Bolts in Dishonored can distract enemies before they're aware of what was shot near them, even though that's not their main function. Arrows into walls in Thief 2014 also work as distractions, until the enemy sees the projectile up-close and starts investigating their area for the enemy.

      Oh and also, regarding the looting and how it's instant. I like that a lot from a gameplay perspective, it's just better, yet sometimes the animations are nice. I really like what Far Cry 4 did, with them adding an option in the menu to disable/enable animations. I mean what's better than having/not having animations? Having an option to choose between them.

    • @LeoKRogue
      @LeoKRogue Před 7 lety +1

      Looting animations in prev. AC games are too tied-into their mechanics. Like, the reason the animation takes so long is because someone at Ubisoft decided that it should take forever to loot something. Just removing the animation itself would not also cut away the loot-Timer. My fave thing about Origins is that it has no Loot timer on anything except Containers, and even for Containers/Chests, that Loot Timer is now *mercifully short.* Just... Thank you, whoever was wise enough to fix that. Animation toggles are always a plus in my book but in some instances, having a long-ass Loot Timer instead of it being Instant just does not fit the game.

    It is kind of saddening to see this reaction nowadays. All we asked for was consistency in the core mechanics, but instead we received shallowness.

    • @LeoKRogue
      @LeoKRogue Před měsícem +1

      I think a lot of us who were at the forefront of covering the games probably knew at the time, as well. That's really the tragedy of Unity -- at the end of the day no matter how much you try, if you don't make a good game, players won't like it, and even though it had some of the best, coolest ideas in the series, if it's not fun to play or has serious issues, no one but the most passionate fans will forgive it.

    In hindsight, this game was a double-edged sword.
    Bayek is by one of the strongest characters created by the devs, with deep-cutting motivation and an attitude that isn't too serious nor too jokey,
    Bayek feels like a real person and his dilemmas justify his choices. Aya was kinda annoying with her loyalty to Cleopatra, but she's Bayek's wife and he doesn't want to hurt her, so I get why he joined her, as suspect as the queen was. Which brings me to the misrepresentation of the rulers as absolute villains, which they were not irl.
    The side characters were weak, due to Bayek having to travel all around Egypt from one place to the next, and finishing the game takes far too little time if you play ng+.
    The stealth was very barebones, I would've liked social stealth and a cover function (although the existence of corner assassinations is pleasing).
    Combat is kinda ass; some enemies are just damage sponges and there are failed assassinations every now and then, which sucks.
    The weapons and shields are a great addition to the game, since there is a wide variety of them and they are all different.
    The character customization is very limited and leaves much to be desired.
    The parkour is not good, since there's no high profile feature nor any real freedom of movement in the game.
    All in all, it's sad that this game is the precursor to Odyssey, instead of being the precursor to a game that makes improvements on the systems.

    • @LeoKRogue
      @LeoKRogue Před 4 lety +1

      I have to agree with pretty much all of that. Origins is still a really amazing game all-around, but those things are definitely factors and I always looked at it for what it was; A Great _Start._ The real test would be what Ubisoft did with what they learned from that game right afterward. Unfortunately we got Odyssey, which had no chance to learn from Origins and was... Well. Not so great. (For me, anyway.) Hopefully with Valhalla, the Origins team remembers the lessons they learned in Origins and apply them effectively.
