Boy it's embarrassing to be an American sometimes. "I would imagine if the envious of us they'd be scared of all the things we have." Like not having any universal health care, or tuition-free college? Like having lower lifespans, higher infant mortality rates, cartoonishly higher rates of gun violence ... 25% of the world's prison population. My Lord. People in that part of the world are, according to virtually every metric, happier and healthier than Americans.
Ya it was exhausting.... Ya I love working in software where all my friends are walking around with $80k in college debt so that they can do important computer things for our society.... I love spending $2500 a month to live in an apartment in a nice area of a nice city and get to see unhoused people shitting at the base of my building... I love driving to brunch and seeing the paramedics loading another dead homeless soul into an ambulance, covered, and driving off with the light turned off.... I love that Europeans in FUCKING DENMARK are envious of me. Christ.
I'm Norwegian and it's great despite some problems with our currency, power supply and demand to Europe( us consumers in Norway are struggling a bit considering the price is like 100x from what it used to be, and food prices are THROUGH THE ROOF!). A lot of Norwegians are also in debt, interest rates are increasing and the Norwegian Krone is shit despite Norway being a strong country with all the oil and the natural electricity/power we have. Strange. Also, some shady politicians just like the US. We have a lot of positives, but things are also going more and more to shit here.
Lady is so far from reality of what’s actually happening in the US. What greatness? All our wealth came from WWII and exploitation of poorer countries. While majority of Americans suffer for lack of infrastructure. Her comments are the embodiment of most US born citizens.
L: “Are we fucked, Cooper?” C: “A little bit, and I don’t think we can change it.” L: “Where you from?” C: “I’m from Minnesota.” L: Okay. Yeah, we’re fucked, man.” A real, American interaction in the middle of Copenhagen.
My godson's mother is from Denmark and he was born in the US (where his father is from) with a hole in his heart, abdomen and other health complications. Her family couldn't wrap their heads around how much of his medical bills they had to pay out of pocket even though her and her husband had great jobs with good health insurance. I agree. It's deplorable. But alas, the US could and will not ever have a social democracy. We are a capitalist society and 1% reap the rewards while gaslighting the rest of us on the "American dream". Oh my haha, the fact that the only other American said, "I think it's because they're jealous" 🤦🏻♀️ Trust me lady, no one is jealous of us in Denmark.
Trust me, bruh, there are definitely things to be jealous about. I know because my entire extended family all decided to move and stay as adults. It depends on the state, and their own values. Some people value more American things like land, guns, wildlife, etc. The US has a ton of space that just isn’t available in Europe, because everywhere is 5 layers of city deep
It’s a land that is for the risk takers. You can rise much higher in the US but if you naturally have poor health or aren’t very talented then you are screwed
Great Video! Even as european i felt that "were fucked" at the end. Pleaseee do Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, Cologne, Munich, Freiburg. These are cultural wise the cities with the 5 most different people i would say. Language could be a problem but not a huge one. keep it up :)
The american dream is leaving america lolol I speak to my parents and grandparents and other elders. And they all say "its wierd because when we were yalls age we were excited to be in American as americans and had pride in our country and our parents at the time would say oh no yall have no idea what america used to be. And now we are our parents saying America is terrible compared to when we were young. Now the interesting thing is this time around our children...you guys (speaking to me and my cousins and brothers) agree with us that our country is broken and most of you dont like anything going on and yall arent even old and bitter like us yet..." So yeah the trend is not great lol im 24 and ashamed to be an american because of how broken and arrogant our country is and how financially screwed we are. Literally our debt is an unsolvable problem...unless we figure out how to mine asteroids i guess and currency becomes useless because respurces become so abundant. Thats the only way out financially i guess for our country. But our government is like watching an episode of Jersey Shore or Trailer Park Boys.

Its a shame that lyle has talked to so many interesting, intelligent, and educated Americans, yet because this one women is clearly ignorant there is going to be a multitude of comments about how this women represents America. Hundreds of cool Americans with great conversations just for one single bad egg to ruin the perception. Pathetic really.
