    People in Germany and England started keeping tropical fish in the 1870s, before electricity was available to the masses. They kept them without all the mechanics just fine. Check out the Victorian aquariums that still exist today online.

    The Rope Fish😍 and Haley has one of the greatest fish rooms I've ever seen a tour of 😍I've seen it a few times before, but always ready to see it again! Haley is an incredible fishkeeper and she knows her stuff! I'm with you on the low boys that is just an incredible tank! If I had the room I would have one sitting right in the middle somewhere in my own house. And her pond, WOW!! What I'm really saying is...it's all WOW!!
    You and James, Ed, LRB and Haley all together were so much fun!!! Seriously y'all are some of the most amazing people in the fish community! I don't watch TV and I've said this before, you guys are like my movie stars! I love seeing y'all on adventures! I can't even imagine how much fun it would be to go to a fish club or a fish swap meet, especially with this gang.. thanks guys for bringing me along! And what a score with those gobies!!! I can't get enough of those little guys!! They are just beautiful!!
    LRB is just incredible and one of the first people I found when coming into the fish fam and community!! I'll never forget the first time I was in the chat on a live stream, the first question I asked was about planaria! 🤣🤣🤣I only have java fern, shrimp, and some of his gold galaxies... I'm so proud to own them and make sure to tell everybody where they came from!! Name dropping at its best 🤣🤗😁 if it hadn't been for LRB I would have never made such an amazing friend as I have in Father Fish! I remember when I saw your video "Sandy caps"I called him and said you won't believe who did a video featuring you!! He really thinks the world of you! And very impressed with your videos!! He was truly excited!! As was I 😁🤗🙏 I've been following you for a while!!! Lurking on Pecktec for a good amount of time! But I'm always here watching and liking! And leaving my long comments 🤣 they are from the heart though!!
    Thank you for taking us on this adventure! Watching your videos has inspired me and I enjoy them so much! I say this all the time, but you never know who's watching that could be going through a bad time and just by watching a video helps them more than you know!! This was a wonderful video start my day especially before going on a stream with Father Fish! I might not know a lot, but I do know which direction to lead people when they want to learn about this aquarium hobby. You along with all the folks you were with are definitely people that I send other people to! I hope you have an amazing day... Thank you for sharing 🙏🤗🌿🐟🌿💚

    I went no-filter a little over a year ago on my 19 tanks (mostly small tanks, under 40 gallons) and so far its worked extremely well. Long day cycles to encourage plant growth, top off for evaporation, but no water changes in this time and lots of breeding with all of my species (livebearers and rainbowfish mostly.)

    Love the Gobies!! I have quite a few no air, no filter tanks. All my new tanks are no filter tanks. I have found that you cannot just turn off the air in a tank that has always had air. It DOES NOT go well. You have to slowly transition the fish. Some fish I am afraid to even try it on because I can't grow plants in the tank - my goldfish and my Oscars as an example.

  • @Cgraseck
    @Cgraseck Před 3 lety

    Nice video! I would suggest that flow is more important than filtration, especially with riverine fish. The thing to remember is that if you change your filter material or wash out your sponge filters, you are removing organic material, which will eventually turn into nutrients. Those will either be used by algae or plants or both.
    Cheers,
    Chris

    It's an interesting way of doing things and admittedly I went through a lazy phase when I was doing one 60% water change every three months with a filter clean the following weekend with no CO2, no ferts, nothing added and my plants went crazy. They probably tripled in size, but I did have a tonne of algae and after seeing just how dirty the filter got in those three months I started doing 50% changes every two weeks and a filter clean once a month, which seems to be pretty good balance for my tank now. I have a sponge air filter in the corner which has never been cleaned and it looks like a drowned cat.

    I’m so amazed when people can have a fish tank setup without filtration or and air and no water change and just let Mother Nature do it’s thing. Doesn’t it mean you have to be over the tank all the time or is it in fact less maintenance. I have to clean my filters and what not all the time. Well actually only once or twice a week, but still

    Is this some rich person joke I'm too poor to understand? Kidding, though not entirely. For some, the most accessible start to aquariums is taking a big jar and filling it with dirt, water, plants, and bugs from a local pond. Airtight seal and everything, lowest possible tech, sometimes even using sunlight instead of a lamp. Costs all of 10 bucks usually.
