Very cool to see your process, Dan. I've been a fan of Lanois forever (esp that haunting Emmy Lou Harris record), and you're drawing on some similar inspiration. Keep it going and know that there are many kindred spirits out there who appreciate your efforts!

Thanks so much for saying this! Yeah. Lanois is in the top 10 for me, for sure. Do you write and record your own music?

@@oceanographic Yup, I played bass poorly in a few bands (actually played for a while with a guitarist who ended up working for years at Kingsway, Lanois' studio in NOLA) in my 20s. Came back to music post-law school, and became obsessed w/ the crazy advances in home recording tech. I've been stealing time from my family for the last few years, becoming immersed in Ableton, and generally trying (with mixed results) to make music that doesn't suck. Learned about you from your live looping video, which was super eye-opening. Then checked out your Modular record w/ Matt Chamberlain. Been following that guy's career since I saw him w/ the New Bohemians in Dallas. Cool to see how all the threads meander and intertwine.

That bass is beautiful! What type are you using?

Love the sound of the trashy lo-fi drums - adds a great character to the overall mix.

Thanks! The funny thing is that I replaced some of them with acoustic drums in the next video...
