Lots of things are. You can get near infinite yogurt from flavourless yogurt, milk and sugar Peanut butter from ground nuts, add oil Etc 😅 I also had this experience and now I know why the "diy" phase was a thing lol
@magerjan7547 I made my first attempt at mozzarella last night. I bought an on sale, soon to expire 3L milk from the store and white vinegar. I think I well overdid it on the stretching step and also should have dunked in fresh hot water, rather than the warmed pot of whey because it didn’t melt, only softened, on my avocado toast this morning. Still great though👌 I don’t think the cost difference is too much here in Australia, probably would only do it again out of boredom or if I already had too much milk about to go off
@aangtheairbender it could help to just buy 1 extra gallon of milk instead :) you get the security of always having enough milk and not the pressure of HAVING to make the cheese Hope this helps! :D
So much of mexican food is like the easiest thing to make and it tastes so damn good. Salsa is just tomatoes, cilantro, and onions, and its so good on a chip.
Just because paneer exists in other countries doesn't mean it doesn't exist in another, what he made is called Queso fresco which is basically the same thing as paneer
@@evanmoore1362 I think I'm glad I've tried paneer and queso fresco before so I know the difference in technique and type of milk used in these two cheese ingredients. When it comes to "fresh" cheeses like that (cheeses that aren't aged and are eaten shortly after making), there really aren't a lot of differences. "Paneer" and "Queso fresco" are just basic fresh cheeses where milk was curdled using acid of some kind (in this case, a lemon juice), then the curds pressed through a cheesecloth. After that, the preparation will vary...is it chilled, salted, basic stuff like that. Take that "paneer" and break it up and salt it and you have what is usually called "cottage cheese". Paneer tends to be pressed into a block after is set to get a firm cubable texture while cheeses like Ricotta, Feta are generally just drained (Unlike Queso fresco). Queso fresco isn't a specific cheese, it is catch-all term for basically any fresh white cheese. Queso fresco is fairly salty, whereas paneer is less so, since queso fresco is used primarily as a garnish and paneer as the centerpiece of a curry.
@@valenlevalenle6394No lol - those are add ins. The jack cheese itself is only seasoned with salt, but it has peppers mixed into it to make up for how bland jack cheese would be otherwise.
how many oz is that homemade queso fresco. Gallon whole milk at BJs cost $3.34. 48oz lemon juice cost $1-1.25. so 10.42¢+$3.34+ pennies for your seasoning = $3.46. at least in my neck of the woods.
Most of the milk curdled into cheese, he mostly had a bunch of water and side products left he probably threw it out. I’m not sure what you can do with it

this is a simple beautiful method
All that water is how they make protein powder. They dehydrate it and sell you the powder that's left from the dehydrated old cheese water.
I make this with vinegar! We call it farm cheese
Technically vinegar is better it doesn't leaves the taste of lemon
@@Andrew-cw6od I actually haven't noticed any taste difference, I just don't usually have enough lemons around
Vinegar is for mozzarella, no?
Def will be trying this 😋
How long can you keep it in the fridge before it goes bad?

Just cut off the bad part lol
It will last up to a week in proper refrigeration. Discard after a week.

Does Lime juice work? Lemons can be difficult to find in my area of Colombia
Limes or vinegar work too. The flavors slightly different but still delicious 😋
