  • Colorism is defined as differential of treatment based on skin tones within an ethnicity. It’s typically viewed as showing favoritism to those of lighter skin toned and the opposite treatment to those with darker skin tones. My colleague and I had the great opportunity to sit down and have a discussion with both men and women and explore their journey, both positive and negative as it pertains to colorism. Society forgets that men are affected by colorism as well because theirs is more subtle, but still prevalent. I hope you enjoy the video ! Like. Comment. Share. Subscribe. I think it's because men's experiences with colorism are rare. Men who catch the most flack are light skinned guys as their desirability and masculinity is questioned. Dark skinned guys tend to be more desired, whereas on the flip side the same traits make them seem "threatening" or "aggressive" when they're not. But those traits are mostly desired in the dating/mating world.

@@fwmade4651 colorism isn’t just about Beauty standards and desirability 😑ppl don’t get jobs because of colorism but the only time woman care about it is when it comes to dating

@@qbennett7232 That’s because that’s the only form of colorism that gets denied. No one in the black community besides people like Candace Owens, questions colorism when it comes to the police or employment. We all believe it happens and are against this form of systemic racism. However a large group of black people, especially men, will deny what darkskin girls experience.
