    The worry for me is that some of these products you buy through Aliexpress appear to be doing their product development as they get customer feedback with issues. I’m never sure if they are the finished article or if they are using customers to do their “road” and durability testing.

    I am a bit confused. In the beginning you mentioned you bought a complete set for a 1x 12 swap. Then you said you paid $330 for what turned out to be a “box of parts” which came with an 11crank /chainring that is not usable. But it also didn’t come with a cassette, 12s chain, or shifting housing? And you didn’t mention a new bottom bracket. Yeah, I’m not so sure this was all that great of a deal!

    • @RunBikeMike
      @RunBikeMike  Před 5 měsíci

      The brifters, rd, and brake calipers came in the kit. I already had a crankset on the bike I was planning on using but the chainring did work. So I switched back to the stock crankset that originally came with the bike. I used the same BB that came with the bike. I fortunately had a 12 speed cassette in my parts inventory saving me about $60 and then I had shift cable housing saving me about $10.
      It is still a lot cheaper to go the LTWOO route even needing to pick up a few small parts than what I was looking at with an equivalent GRX or SRAM Rival setup.

    I've got the 11-speed version of this (GR9) on my Soma Fog Cutter. Fantastic upgrade from the Sensah SRX Pro with JuinTech brakes I'd started with. As a 20-year Campagnolo loyalist, I was super excited to see the Campag-inspired shifting logic, and the ability to go multiple gears in either direction. Fantastic value, and I sing its praises to anyone who'll listen.

    • @qwertyazerty2137
      @qwertyazerty2137 Před 5 měsíci

      I've got this groupset too and for me this campag style shifting is not suitable. The downshift trigger is in an awkward position from the hoods. Also, the possibility to downshift more than one gear with single stroke is unnecessary - I find myself over downshifting very often and I need to focus on pressing the trigger gently to shift only one gear. IDK, these are my first campag style shifters and I haven't ridden them a lot so far so maybe it's just a matter of getting used to them, but being a shimano user for years, I find their road shifter the most ergonomic, intuitive and easy to operate.

    It definitely looks nice. I have heard there are issues with the rear der breaking. The B-Spring can snap. I know they have updated the design of the parts over the last 2 years. I do know, that the electronic version is nothing but a headache.

      Not exactly right. It was with the prototype eGR groupset which Luke from TraceVelo has been testing. The b-tension washer notch that engages against the derailleur hanger had snapped.

    I will never understand why Microshift will never make hydraulic breifters. Mech discs are good for isolated situations where you are in the middle of nowhere, but hydraulic failing is pretty rare for >99% of cases and braking performance is critical for commuting.

      @@jameswilson2815 that's pretty much next best thing after full hydraulic. But considering these Chinese brands like L-Twoo are pumping out affordable brifter full hydro, I find it ironic Microshift doesn't despite them having headstart. But I might consider hydro calipers with compressionless housing too.

    why should they be worried? because those are cheap?
    I tried L-twoo bike components for a year, on my MTB and Rbike. They shift good and are very cheap BUT THEY FAIL EASILY. When I say "I tried them" it means, I played around with them almost to crucial testing. If there's anything good with their "group sets" it's their MTB shifters because those are compatible with SRAM and Shimano. Roadbike brifters are crap...internal components are made of plastic...Derailleur cages rust like crazy. Derailleur spring are soft and they bounce a lot on rough road. so NO - Shimano or SRAM will never be worried.

    • @RunBikeMike
      @RunBikeMike  Před 5 měsíci

      From my research they are very active in improving their products. This is the 1st product I have used from LTWOO and I am trying it out to see if it is any good. Only time will tell. I have no worries on the RD cage rusting on the is GRT setup because it is carbon. And as for the bouncing I should be fine since this RD has a clutch. Fingers cross.
      I know they make lower end stuff and I am finding that is what a lot of viewers have experience with. Since this is there higher end stuff hopefully it will be better than the experience you have had.
      I do think companies grow and learn over the years. So hopefully they have changed some of the flaws you found when you used them.

      I have their AX 11 speed mtb groupset. It was dirt cheap but the low price didn't come from nowhere - after half a year of riding and less than 1000 km in flat woodlands the clamp bolt of the shifter snapped. I can't remember if I used a torque wrench on it but for sure I haven't over tightened it. Then, the b tension washer that locks against the Derailleur hanger fell of when I unmounted the derailleur because it held in place by a spring retainng ring that is likely to pop out every now and then, but it's easy to put it back in. I don't know why the couldn't just copy shimano design of a washer that latches onto the groove of the main mounting bolt. Other than that the groupset works decently.

    • @qwertyazerty2137
      @qwertyazerty2137 Před 5 měsíci

      I have the GR9 groupset which shifters are identical. Indeed, on the hoods the downshift trigger is completely unergonomic and in awkward position. You have to twist your hand to reach it and you have to move your fingers away from underneath because the sit right under the trigger and obstruct its downward travel. On the other hand in the drops, the trigger is perfect, right where you'd look for it with the thumb.
