That basketball hoop idea was awesome!
All bases should have a basketball hoop lol
TY for this. I've had trouble with zombies stacking up and crawling past my hatches. This will be a big help!!
I'm so glad I saw the pole double and hatch strat you use here, so useful! Thank you my friend, great and comprehensive content.
Amazing stuff Pixel! Thank you for the vid, learnt a lot 👍
No worries :)
Great timing on this video. Thanks!
Last base really is what I was looking for, thanks for sharing it :)
Would love to see how you built it
still a bit bummed that fall damage bases don't work anymore... I still think zombies shouldn't survive +100 meter falls...
Wait fall bases don't work? I though it was 1/3 life, so you just make sure they fall several times.
@@CruentusDK1 they enter rage mode if they take too much fall damage and start atacking your base instead of going after you this is one more thing "fun"pimp didn't liked and changed...
This is what I've been looking for! Our old base no longer work. Grrrrrr Thank you for the info! "Liked and Subscribed"
Glad I could help! and thanks for the sub :)
Thank you... very timely as we all need new horde bases.
Glad to help
The last base with the dart and blade traps is something I can use for mine as well. Will try that, so thanks! Wanted to build a big ass castle but dont like the time it takes to gather resources. Maybe later in game when I have better gear and more skill points
I've just redownloaded the game and haven't played since like 2015. This helped a lot with understanding the new concepts! Thanks!
A lot of work went into this video, I enjoyed it. Subbed.
Appreciated. Thanks :)
Really interesting stuff, thanks. :)
Thank you very much just the video I needed as I'm quite new to the game subbed 👍😌
This is exactly the vid I was looking for, thanks for making it
No problem! :)
Vary nice ty for the ideas and video
Great vid gave me lots of ideas for my next blood moon
Nice informative video. Just a bit of a tip. You can copy the shape of the block that you want to get the name of and then you can read the name from the blocks in your inventory. That way it's easier to correctly remember what shape you have used
Thanks. I did know that, My brain doesn't work properly when recording lol
I love how you say look an early horde base (made out of reinforced concrete) haha. Last I checked basic wood is the only thing available in the early game.
Look at the design and not the material. Cobblestone is also available early in the game and I think you'll find it holds out well.
Wow, nice info
Awesome video! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
wow the cone is the old repurposed reinforced log spike. Those things used to be the AFK defense of choice in the early days.
This is really helpful, thank you
You're very welcome!
Love the video 😎
Thanks 😁
Got a sub 😁
great work
Thanks!
I wish I had the big brain to make these kinds of videos. 🙃
You're just a better gamer in every way. 😂
For real, thanks for making this video. I got LOADS of value out of it.
No Worries. Glad you did :)
Great. Now I know what to do with my forward base.
Oooh I like to see a video on how you build the basket ball 1 that's so awesome!
Okay so fun fact: Using a pole actually does work now.
Source: JaWoodle, and my own testing. I run a pole walkway across the roof of a pass n' gas to the rear room, with the entire thing done in cobble (not used any cm/dm items, all done by day 4 or 5 by adventuring around), and I have tested it in the middle of mini hordes, random spawns during the day/night, and it's worked flawlessly so far. Occasionally they've beat on the wall, but no longer than one or two hits, which I put spike traps down to prevent that from happening again. Waiting for horde night for it's official test, but it's a pain to get my buddy on to keep up with me lmao.
Have you found any interesting ways to do horde night yet? Let me know, would love to hear more ideas.
I'm still kinda investigating A20 without using creative mode. But I had some ridiculously potent A19 horde bases.
Like, when you start designing your base to help the horde night zombies path faster into your kill area (so new ones can spawn sooner, to maximize XP/loot), at 'any' game stage, then you've kinda broken the game.
I have noticed that pathing is "somewhat different" now though. In regular play I used a simple short killing corridor followed by a hatch-melee defense. And I noticed that on day 21 a bunch of zombies decided to hit the supports under the platform instead of pathing up. I kinda hesitate to recommend anything until I sort out what was going on there.
Great video though!
Have you tried a uh... how to describe it... "an upside down wedge path (with half walls on top) on each side of a 4-wide hallway, but in the center, there's a protrusion which allows them to get a bit closer to the players"? Kinda like a little diving board in the middle with a wedge-fall trick to the left & right. A round ball worked well as the center diving board type extension in A19. That worked very well in A19 to reduce the zombies hitting the half walls over the wedges, cuz they want to move closer, and then they have to take a leap of faith to engage the fall traps to the sides. Helped reduce them hitting the 1/2 walls on top of the wedges. I wonder if that still works in A20?
For now though, I'm going to try a reverse killing corridor (ramps up from under the player, moving away for a little distance...safe for junkies & shooting with demos), which loops back to a melee endpoint. All zero cheese, scalable with ammo availability, and lots of trap use opportunity without being trap dependent.
PS: I have to admit that my very first A-20 horde night was a disaster, cuz I was using centered iron bars 2 blocks over hatches. In A-19 this made zombies try to jump over and over, without success, minimizing hatch damage. In A-20, they just poured over my hatches (1.5 block gap over them) and my pipe pistol offered little defense, hehe.
They can definitely path across poles now =)
I like to make the path leading to a kill box look like a z (straight lines though), place hatches along it, leaving the corners open and place blade traps on the floor by the corners. The zombies will jump over the hatches (fall sometimes) get chewed by the traps a bit. This video really has some great ideas. Great job
@@happytraveler6933 I like a rectangle path. Some traps at ground level to pre-soften zombies a bit. This conserves ammo, but the goal is to NOT accidentally kill them at ground level cuz traps XP is 'meh'. You also don't want to slow the zombie pathing there, as it will cost you kills per minute. Ramp up from under the player. Path away from the player (main kill box) where you can freely shoot zombies from behind without fear of hitting demo buttons, free-use of junk turrets too. Very "electrifying" on the moving-away path, so there's plenty of time on target (and less wiggly headshots). Players get first crack at them for max XP. Escapee zombies then take a turn, and a return path which is a trap-murder-corridor (4 darts plus a re-use of the electric fences from the main kill box). And finally returns to the side of the player's safe-house for a melee ending. Not that anything ever survives long enough to hit with melee, but if all your traps broke (or were turned off), and you had no ammo, the option to melee exists. Or let a junk sledge knock them off the melee endpoint so they forever-loop, and just afk the horde night without spending anything. But if you kill aggressively, the mound of loot bags gets shoulder-deep and will fill 2 wall safes with loot (conveniently placed near where loot bags pile up).
@@kathrynck that's a very good idea I'm gonna have to try that!
For me I find that about 2/3 of them path up and the rest stay below and start hitting my support pillars. So I now make the support of my horde base completely solid and going 2 blocks deep into the ground. I also build a sort of cage floor around the outside of the supports so I can shoot down at them if I need to in order to clear them away.
I'm experimenting now with a long twisting corridor made out of bars and with single blocks every few squares for the zombies to stop and jump over, just something I picked up from Rimworld :P
Loved the video. Haven't played for years. My favorite base used to be underwater. Does that still work?
I love underwater bases. No Stress, but yes it something im going to look into
Интересные идеи))
Place presure plates under the dart traps 😊
Looks cool. Good luck on night 70... I got murdered. If zombies get slowed down and others are stuck outside they start targeting random player blocks.
I just go to any random building and knock the stairs out. These look like some fun builds to try out tho.
Havent tried it yet in A20 but you should look at making the caps into balls and making steps. It used to work wonders
Caps in Balls? That doesn't sound to pleasant lol
hey man, i'm having an issue where the zombies begin attacking the support pillars of the building, what type of pillars do you use? love your videos by the way, thanks!!
They are classed as "Poles" and thanks 😁
Grate vid mate,
Do you have a block by block build for the End Game Horde Base?
Not a Block by Block, but i hope this give enough detail:

Do you have a link to some of your builds?
Great job by the way! Very informative and helpful
Have a Lets play showing it.

How did you manage to make both blade traps hit the single walkway? Do you have a video going in detail to that?
Yes, releasing this week. Subbed to be notified
Buen video, gracias por traducirlo al spanish.
Hello
Good video. One question do you have any guide on how to build the latest Horde Base? (End Game Horde Base) Would love to build it.
Happy New Years !!!!
May the new year 2022 bring you and your loved ones ,friends and pets, Happiness,Health,
lots of smiles, and why not a ocassional hug :). and because we are zombie slayers, lots of new games ,
subscribers,views likes,and comments.. !! have a awesome night !! and a fantastic new year!!
what shapes are those bars at 11:26, where you can melee them but they can't get to you? Or can they hit you through that but your standing far enough away? Thank you, great video!
Double pole, and yeah they can still hit you but you just have to shuffle back and forth.
@6:45 Played insane for the first time, made it to day 7 no issue, made this design and pretty much every 10 seconds or so, even with the poles, a regular zombie would climb through. Ended up dying. Idk why those zombies there arent crawling through but it definitely isnt safe anymore even from regular zombies. Any advice for this?
It's been a month so you probably don't need this information anymore but what I did was add a couple layers of bars at the end in front of where I stood. I made 2 layers of bars, one every other block, then added a hatch above so I could drop down in-between the bars if I needed to collect loot.
Can you do a walkthough on how you build the bomber base step by step? Im a PvM playing solo so I want to try this.
Zombies NOT pathing over a horizontal pole isn't entirely true. Another youtuber doing an alpha 20 lets play set up a horde base in a barn and the zombies are pathing across the poles. Even had a bear path across it.
The ole shenanigans of Jawoodle ring true. I’m using the same trick on my home base and have no issues. I’ve even got my Sammy Sledge as my door bouncer and see too any zombie transgressors at my own time without worry.
I wonder if you placed a single centered pole in between the two cone blocks facing in to each other. It would extend the narrow area the zombies have to path acrossed
Potentially! Worth a try!
The most random shit in a20 is that ladders are included in the shape menu, but not acknowledged as such by the zombies. We had several exposed ladders without any hatches and no zombie even attempted to climb them. Instead they hit random blocks.
Yoooo these are awesome, but could you possibly do like 2x speed building videos of the bomber pit? I don't completely understand how you'd make it
Or do you have videos for them?
I don't yet, but ill be starting a Block by Block series in the New Year.
i see you break the bottom beam so the zombies can get thru but on my horde night i did a similar base with beams in each block so its less than a one block gap & the zombies still sometimes get thru the gap.. has someone found the perfect shape to use that allows maximum ability to hit zombies and not your own blocks without allowing them thru? i saw jawoodle using curved ones but he sometimes hits his own block
Try this: czcams.com/video/cDUwYixMeJw/video.html
The biggest change I've noticed is the zombies falling down when you shoot them looking dead but getting back up behind you.
That's why you always have to keep checking the xp go up if you shoot one down, also if they are on fire and the fire goes out, the zombie is dead
Playing a20 and the wedge60tip trap still works for me odd
These are amazing and the last one is spectacular but I normally build horde bases that are chaotic and have a near death experience 😆 Unless I have creative mode, I can't get anywhere near making something like the last two bases by Day 100. What is the purpose of having flooring for your base foundations? Is that because of demos or for zombies digging?
Just better stability
You can make use of a door to drop zombies into a pit. You just need to be able to activate it.
Very good idea!
Y would you not use 4 poles together going sideways in the first doorway base?? You only have 2 poles
i used something similar to the pole double block on my staircase base... but its smaller.. i think its called window frame.. but i used it on the ground... the zombies try to jump it & fall thru to the ground again..
Anything small that a fence pole zombies can usually get in
Where can I find the video you building the end game horde base? There are quite a lot of videos on this channel and I'm not sure what to search for to bring it up, but it looks like a great little base idea for when my buddy and I get further into the end game, so I was hoping to copy some of the details.
This one?
@@PixelLifeGaming Sorry, I guess I was vague. I mean the one you show at the very end of this video that you said was your favorite, with all the blade traps and shock wires. I was hoping to see how you built it so I could get a better idea of how to copy the design in a game I'm playing with a friend, because that base looks great!
@@ExImperialDragon czcams.com/video/J3JoLtk60IY/video.html lets see if this links works. wasnt showing before
Or this one

@@PixelLifeGaming You are the absolute greatest, thank you so, so much!
any rumors on the full release .. i want to play so bad but hate wasting time lol
The best part of this game endless builds so fun
I agree 👍
I built an A19 horde base in A20. You know a long path that leads to you and then shoot them as they all march down the path filled with spikes and electric fences and traps.Almost the exact base I had in A19. Guess what not one single Z ever came up the steps. They just headed right to the building walls and started bashing their way in. They did not however pick one spot and then everyone bash on those 2 blocks. Which ever way they were coming from that's the wall they hit. It was lots of fun. I was tired of the conga line Zs anyway, but check this. After the horde was over a Z came up and I whacked once and ran up the stairs. He wouldn't even follow me up the stairs, just started bashing the supports. I don't know if this is a glitch or what but that was weird.
That does sound weird. Maybe they didn't register the path some how?
@@PixelLifeGaming dunno but another horde night today so we'll see. Maybe they won't path over spikes anymore.
@@PixelLifeGaming just fyi on my SP game they did come up the steps but it was a straight shot not the s shaped the other one was and no spikes. You double pole block to stop spider Zs did not work the spiders (man those things are really creepy now) and regular Zs crawled thru a lot. It was quite a shock lol. First time I almost got killed on a horde night in a long time. Also the most fun horde night in a long time. :-)
How do you add attachments to firearms and melee weapons? Do I have to use cheats? Please someone help me. I am very new to this game😅
Zombies ARE pathing along poles. (Centre Side, Pole to top) But they have problems Trying to jump UP onto the pole !, Most of the time they will Miss it or fall off.
is there a tutorial on the end game base?
Yes, releasing this week. Subbed to be notified :P
can zombies and spiders get thru the circle blocks?
Nope
is the big demo guy still in the game, cuz if he is all this is rendered useless. also how do you fight vultures with those solid roofs?
Trap doors do not work completely fine. Zombies frequently dive over the top of the trap door or crouch down behind the door to keep damaging it while being protected by the door from you hitting it without getting close enough to take damage.
I managed to nerf the zeds with my first base, centre spike with a block left and right of it,spikes makes them jump ,then they just loop
Interesting!
@@PixelLifeGaming the pole spike not the trap
can you build a multiplayer horde base like say 4-5 people.
Sure :)
They can get over the hatch door now
They can but you just need to add 1 block, which i show in the video
I personally hate building bases like this, still interesting. I love taking a building and reinforcing it walking dead style.
Only Steel blocks did downgrade, every other block got destroyed in A19. They only removed the exception
Most base designs work somewhat but who can say no to the STEEL DONG base?
if this is alpha 20 how come you have reinforced concrete in it???
Creative, i used them so people can see the number of blocks
@@PixelLifeGaming ok.. i thought you might have just painted them to look like the old style.. ive never used creative
@@tigrecito48 Actually, I stand corrected, i did paint the blocks, in my madness. mb. lol
@@PixelLifeGaming ok cool... the fun pimps like to do that too.. i started building my base on a poi & then realised the cobblestone is wood lol
20:05 полу-блоки решают.
On ps4 we have spikes lots of spikes
so hatch bases still work? ive read that they changed the AI so the zombies go into break everything mode if they are crowded.
мало эффективные против серьёзных орд.Сгодятся максимум на 3-4 орды.
Why do people make 2 seperate bases horde base and home base lmao. Why waste the time making two bases when you can just do it all on one. I don't understand
Unless you're on day 7000 legitimately I don't see the reason
Do people just have terrible aim and planning or what. Or are they scared
Elaborate horde bases are so unnecessary.
But also fun to build :)
Don't build your base on ground!!!
