    Beautifully done film at a really picturesque estate. What a super team of guns you had going there Dave! A 20 in the field is a pleasure and you did your usual great job of shooting whatever gun happens to be in your hands. Equally impressive and important is that you always get the word out of how shooting sports play such a role in habitat conservation to the benefit of all. Thanks and best regards.

    Hunting/field sports treads a fine line, walking it requires self restraint, moral courage, in depth knowledge, self sacrifice, huge respect for your quarry and discipline. If you practise this everyday you should have no problem explaining to the most extreme anti your stance.
    A true sportsman/hunter commands respect and also deserves it.

    Another wonderful video, Dave. Happy New Year to you. It seems that every bore has its evangelist. I think everyone should shoot what they want and not care about what the next guy is shooting. You look so comfortable shooting your 12 bore Miroku with the Monte Carlo stock. If I could shoot it that well, I'd never shoot anything else. As for conservation may I suggest Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever.

  • @Nobby2211
    @Nobby2211 Před 4 lety

    Another great film with some lovely shooting. In the video you make a great point in that the shooting community often shy away from the spot light and the only time we come together is to defend the sport. We should have a constant rhetoric promoting the ecology of shooting, highlighting what shooting does for the community, nature and conservation. If we bang on - excuse the pun - promoting the pro's of shooting with as much enthusiasm as the anti do then we may stand a chance and actually get the positive messages across. But we need to be co-ordinated and encourage people to stand and be counted. At my local shoot we have two very famous actors who would never stand and be counted as they know it would end their careers. But if we are as active promoting shooting as the anti's are against it then these people would be far more keen to stand and be counted.

    I have a question... I love shooting and I love the English culture of shooting. One thing that does bother me a little though, that is the use of lead shot. I would really appreciate a comment on the use of lead shot and its affects in nature and the landscape.

      KurJan&Urbano - I am no expert on the effects of lead on flora and fauna or the environmental impact it may pose, I do know that there are no existing records of any human having died of ingesting any through eating shot game, but the argument is fierce on both sides (to keep it or get rid of it) I think the get rid of it brigade are in front though 🤔

      @@MrMayhemVI Your OBVIOUSLY out of touch with the way modern Britain has become its got nothing to do with politics you imbecile but everything to do with modern snowflake thinking and brainwashing our kids in school . • @MrEMrC
      @MrEMrC Před 4 lety +1

      You are unrealistic.
      I understand your frustration completely and it is natural, when shooting is under attack, to compare it with, and be bitter about, other social issues that get a lot of positive coverage in the media.
      However, your point about gamekeepers in schools is a very important one, and I can give no better response than that of a gamekeeper friend: ‘If every gamekeeper, visited one school in their life, it would maker a difference.’ He visits schools, scout groups and so on. Nobody has supplied him with a resources pack, he just got on and did it. He came to my school and in one day nearly 700 kids handled pheasant chicks and learned about shooting.
      I would add that if every shooter gave an oven ready pheasant to their child’s teacher that would make a difference too, and I started saying that sort of thing in letters to magazines 20 years ago. Also every child I have taught knows about shooting.
      More shooting groups are picking up on this, but too many don’t and a lot have taken a hell of a long time.
      If we expect things to be fair and even handed we will fade; shooting is easily morally defended, we need more of us to be proactive.
      I would also say that shooting is a broad community and I think that it does not exclude the LBGT or pretty much, any community, and suspect that it never has.

    • @DaveCarrieShooting
      @DaveCarrieShooting  Před 4 lety +2

      @@MrEMrC Hi John
      i have been "like you" begging them to get back to the schools, i think the only way is get rid of the old school who are afraid of a good fight (even when armed to the teeth with scientific proof) they seem to just languish in the hope that it will all go away.

    • @MrEMrC
      @MrEMrC Před 4 lety

      @@DaveCarrieShooting It is so frustrating, I do wonder sometimes if people just don't see, as we do, that shooting ticks so many boxes for good. So many so that there are plenty of ticks left over for boxes that have yet to be discovered! I really do understand the frustration of shooting people, and I think films like yours must give loads of people that quiet nudge that says 'Go on..'!
      It is a long old track though!
