  • In this unique region in the centre of Cambodia, the Mekong River becomes larger and its shores spread apart. A kind of delta rises up in the middle of its course, spreading over a couple of kilometres.
During the dry season when the water level is low, countless islands sheltering tiny villages appear. The dry season lasts several months and turns the land in the fields into a hard, cracked and dusty crust.

My long time Cambodian-American girlfriend spent 9 years in a refuge camp in Thailand and came to America with her father when she was 17 years old. She now lives in Long Beach, California and has raised 6 children in America. Long Beach has the largest number of Cambodians who fled Pol Pot. Lowell Massachusetts has the next largest population of emigrant Cambodians. I love these people.

What a very beautiful transition around 25 minutes in this careful crafted movie.
what I mean is the transsistion from the big tree praise to the boat-rapair-site.
The sound-work SO carefull one gets carried into the frame . . and then even
better . . quite some time into this small boat-repair-shop . . the narration foresy
its farewell in near future . . because of glassfiber taking over from wood for boat
    building. THANKS A LOT

3:10: 🌊 The narrator reflects on their dreams and memories as a new day begins amidst chaos, and expresses gratitude. They then describe their journey on the Mekong River in Cambodia, highlighting its significance as a popular adventure destination.
11:56: 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The speaker discusses his desire to share knowledge with children in his village and his close-knit family.
25:29: 🛶 The loss of traditional wooden boat making workshops and the reliance on foreign materials and machinery is a concerning change.
35:42: 🛕 Monks in the Mekong region follow a religious education and have unexpectedly busy days.
47:03: 🐘 The elephant was an important part of the village's economy, but is no longer used for work requiring strength. It was owned by the narrator's parents and shared with other villagers.

Lot in common with countries as Sri Lanka, India except for the North, Mayanmar, Thailand etc. However captive elephant's conception is celebrated in other parts of the world. It is considered a blessing as it brings money and fame to the owner.

What if is it is all true? Those spirits of the dead giants from the past are very demanding of these beliefs. So if they don't get what is demanded by them from the people they will harm them as the belief goes. This is why they are known as evil spirits!
