    Love this. I use my loungewear for late afternoon/evenings when I want to be dressed and wear pjs at the same time. Or when I’m an overnight guest and don’t feel quite comfortable in pjs. End result is I’m dressed if I need to be outside and cozy enough for bedtime.

    Yoga pants/leggings, hoodie, rayon dresses, and one tshirt/shorts “set” are my “around the house” clothes (aka loungewear). My go to outfit is capris yoga pants/leggings with an above the knee rayon dress with a wire free bra; by most people’s standards I look almost nice enough for church but am as comfortable as most people find sweats. It is also my go to travel outfit for long car and plane rides

    About a month ago, I was stuck at home and out of work due to a snow storm, and I took advantage of that to expand my loungewear capsule for the winter months. For the warmer months, I pretty much live in shorts (or leggings) and a t-shirt. I'm big into wearing leggings and own 5 pairs total (1 of which is for working out), but I also have one pair of joggers, 2 knit pullovers for the winter months, 2 pairs of sweatpants and 2 pairs of gym shorts.

    Last year when lockdown continued beyond the initial two weeks, I gathered all the leggings, sweatpants and joggers, rolled them up and put them in a small clear bin for easy, one stop access. Tops didn’t matter as much unless I’m on Zoom.
    As I spent most of my time on my bed, jeans, dresses, skirts are out.
    One day my very stylish friend was so depressed that I proposed to take pictures of my look for the day to send to her and she can do the same. It made it more fun to get dressed every day. Depression averted.

    When I am sloppy my association is that I am also cozy, and that I don’t have to put in any effort. So I personally don’t mind mismatched, tattered stuff. As long as my clothes are clean I’m good. I wear leggings or sweats with my old band T’s that are a little ratty sometimes but have sentimental value. I don’t have to work from home so no one sees me anyway. Sloppy is in the eye of the beholder lol. It saves me money but also is more sustainable IMO, the sloppy clothes would just end up in the dumpster, since no self-respecting thrift store would take them as a donation and they definitely wouldn’t be sellable on poshmark etc. It’s a way to “use up” what I have until they eventually become workout items, gardening wear, laundry rags, dog towels, etc.
    That being said, your loungewear is beautiful and clearly integrates well into the rest of your wardrobe, which is amazing!

    Love this! I've been working from home for years, and living in the desert with three dogs and a cat means my daily wardrobe is athleisure (which is a step up from what I call "bathleisure"). I should really go with lighter colors because of the animal hair situation, but I'm short and not skinny, so dark colors are more flattering most of the time. I've discovered I have a capsule wardrobe by default--I find myself wearing the same dozen or so pieces every week, adjusting footwear and outer layers for the seasons here in SoCal. I've gone with mostly charcoal and black, with teal and orchid as pops of color, as well as some denim. One thing I've noticed is that wearing patterns seems distracting to me on workdays. I don't even like wearing flannel shirts anymore. I think if I could curate a no-holds-barred comfy capsule, I'd stick with soothing solid colors, like your sweats made from recycled fishing materials. I'd like to add some blush and pale aquamarine because they feel so calming. Maybe that's the pandemic talking. Now, if could just feel brave enough to wear "button pants" again...

    Hi beautiful Alyssa, this is a very much needed video! 🙏😃👍 I feel this year has taught me so much about what I feel really really comfortable wearing (read "my inner slob"). I miss my blazers and heels, and belts and silk scarves I wore at the office. But it was also great to slowly allow myself to feel very comfortable, being at home. I couldn't agree more with you on underwear. I love cotton camis with a shelf bra - really good quality with strong support, and also discovered my favourite long sleeve pima cotton T-shirts from Uniqlo. They're divine. And I got a men's 100% cotton hoodie from Uniqlo too, and it's the best quality cotton I've had. Simply fantastic.
    Love my cotton PJ bottoms, cotton leggings, and also cashmere leggings, but only for inside the house, and good stretchy AG jeans for a walk outside. I'm so spoiled by good fabrics. They not only look good, but perform well and last. I can't help but check those fabric composition tags on the inside seam. I know you can relate! 😎🙈 Hope you have a wonderful week ahead, and I must admit I was sooooo hoping that the book you were reading in the beginning of the video was mine. 🙈🤣 Big hugs to you, and thanks for the shout out on IG again.😍 Big hugs! 🌺💖🌺

    I really wanted a matching sweatsuit for lockdown, but I knew I had enough leggings and long-sleeved t-shirts to get by. Get by, not get and buy! I did buy two pairs of joggers, but they are baggier than I wanted. I like a slim leg, or a wider leg without a cuff. Traditional sweatpants are just too sloppy-looking, I think.

    Great video, Love your idea of slow fashion (and thanks for your recent video explaining it 😆), I follow a few others but your videos and advice is much more practical and authentic, it also makes me think more about what I already have as opposed to what I need to buy. I love love love crisp white shirts like the one you’re wearing- but how do you launder it so that it doesn’t accumulate those yellow armpit stains or greying on the inside of the collar?!

    • @AlyssaBeltempo
      @AlyssaBeltempo  Před 3 lety

      ugh ok this is so tough. I am constantly seeking out good natural deodorants but what I tend to do is spot clean after a few wears which is easier than constantly taking the time to clean the whole garment. I have yet to find a deodorant and lifestyle that avoids those yellow stains though! I hope this helps a little!

    • @erinlikesacornishpasty4703
      @erinlikesacornishpasty4703 Před 2 lety

      @@AlyssaBeltempo so, the yellowing is sweat staining, right? I also love natural deodorants, but because they're not antiperspirant, they won't prevent me from sweating out my shirts. I probably should be spot cleaning my shirts after every few wears too. But I'm not sure any deodorants will help us 🤔.
