      In my opinion they still do, just not as antique and formal.

      Couldn't be further from the truth. They made their parts in USA back then. Now they're all made in China >:/

    For some reason I enjoy watching elevators. I have a suggestion. Why don't use a GoPro for your videos? Maybe one along with the one you're using right now. GoPro has a wide angle lens so it'd be very helpful for showing the interiors. If we can see the whole thing at once, we can get a better sense of what it's like inside it. Plus, you can wear it on your head or chest so you can enjoy your ride, operate the elevators without being concerned about your camera.
    Keep it up sir! Good luck!

      +lolaleavesnow I actually have an action cam that I use sometimes :) It is a garmin VIRB and has the same angle as the go pro.

    Very nice elevators, but it's too bad they restricted this building with No Trespassing signs, since old buildings and elevators are the ones that count.

      It is usually very easy to get permission to film in these locations.

    • @exoticcar5482
      @exoticcar5482 Před 8 lety

      It's easy for you because you're the most popular elevator filmer and you get invited but if you have any suggestions on how to get permission to film in non-public buildings PLEASE share some advice with the rest of us!

  • @joaquinfernandesgarcia996

    If the elevator hits the final limit switch, the motor will shut down

    Does this building have some kind of security console or something of that sort that makes it privately owned

    I have a question for you. On the automatic elevator, the button for 6 looked to be dull and porous like Bakelite. But I've never seen a Bakelite button that large. All of the other buttons are obviously Lexan. Was that 6 button a large Bakelite button? I love the birdcage elevator!! Thanks for sharing these with us. Happy Thanksgiving!

    • @robfassi3297
      @robfassi3297 Před 8 lety

      what is the difference between bake light and Lexan buttons

    • @Dana_Danarosana
      @Dana_Danarosana Před 8 lety +1

      Rob Fassi It's the material the buttons are made from. Bakelite is an early bicarbonate plastic created by chemist Leo Baekeland in the 1900's. Lexan is a polycarbonate plastic manufactured by SABIC Innovative Plastics since the 1940's.

      How can you tell

    • @robfassi3297
      @robfassi3297 Před 8 lety

      Like is there a color difference or texture

    • @Dana_Danarosana
      @Dana_Danarosana Před 8 lety

      Rob Fassi The Bakelite buttons are usually a little bit rougher and have a slightly more faded appearance. The Lexan plastic is much more dense. It is highly polished, looks very shiny, and is very smooth to the touch. Rewatch the video and look at the button for floor 6 versus all of the other buttons. The reason I questioned Andrew is because the older Bakelite buttons were usually much smaller than the Lexan buttons. But this dull, Bakelite-esque looking button is the same size as the rest of the Lexan buttons.
