My so bought a swimsuit for £45. I saw it was made in PRC and checked out AliExpress and Alibaba. Found the same one unbranded for £4.59 or £2.99 if you bought in batches of 1000. The margins on top of these are absolutely insane.

They really don't have that much of profit margin. Shipping charges + inventory + shop rent/employee salary all come from above those prizes. (Profit on top of that ofcourse)

that's assuming the aliexpress/alibaba listing(s) are actually selling what they say they are... pretty common to find online listings for items being sold way cheaper than what they're usually sold for and then if you buy it you get sent a shitty knock off, especially when it's that big of a price jump.

I think todays makeup prices are insane too. Even ‘drugstore’ products today range from $10-$22 dollars when just a few years ago you’d be able to find so many products for $5 or less😭
Todays makeup prices have increased mainly because of all the wars and conflicts currently happening all around the world, each product sources different materials from those countries and like I mentioned, there’s stuff happening and it’s harder for them to export what these companies need without risks hence why there’s such a big increase in price

Companies charge whatever they can get away with in order to maintain constant profit growth, relying on brand recognition and competitive pricing. The quality of the product has been going down in the last 10years for most drug store brands as well.
L'Oréal has been a special pet peeve of mine because they keep maintaining their prices as a more expensive drug store brand but their make up has been having a very noticeable nose dive in quality compared to others.
Literally I will restock on drugstore concealer, eyeliner, and maybe a lip gloss and my total will be near 100$ ☠️😭

Literally! My husband just realized that the bottom and top part of women’s swimsuits are sold separately and he was just like WHYYY!?
The reason is because women are proportioned differently, especially boobs/butts. If the top and bottom had to go together in the same size, many women would be forced to buy 2 whole swimsuits to actually get one wearable top and bottom.

I do this and it drives my mom insane. I have a purse that I bought about 6-7 years ago. When I bought it I loved it so much I went and got a second one for when the first got worn out. Then I could have the same purse (because you can never find the same one later). The 1st one is cosmetically very rough but fine otherwise and I refuse to switch out because doing so means ruining the nice one I have on back up. My mom wants the used one when I finally switch just so she can burn it.

There are countless videos online of the actual factories where they are produced and they literally just lay the jeans, which at this point is completely normal and unripped, ontop of something and get something that looks kinda like a cheese grater but for jeans and go across the entire thing and that's literally it.

this is how I feel when im trying to buy a matching set at victoria secret. if you want a lace matching set you have to buy it separately. the bra is like $65-$80 then the thongs are like $30-$40 depending on the style. then in total it’s like $160 + the tax.
another thing about vs is that for the prices they charge, the material doesn’t even last long. the material of the lace thong eventually starts ripping after a year. so it’s not worth it. i wish it was ONE price for a matching set.

Wearing your swimsuits from middle school is so real like like my body may have gotten wider and thicker in some places but the one piece that I wore in like 6th grade still fits I just fill it out better. 😅😊
