1 day in Istanbul by cruise ship with kids. July 2023, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar, Galata Port

- Our cruise ship stop in Istanbul, Turkey on July 14, 2023. We arrived at 6:00am and left at 2:00pm. We hired a private 12 passenger van and it fit 2 parents, 2 kids and 4 grandparents very comfortably. Since many places don’t open until 9:00am we took photos outside of the Hagia Sophia and Mosques. Toured inside Topkapi Palace and spent a couple hours shopping inside the Grand Bazaar (World famous and largest indoor bazaars) before going onto the ship that afternoon.
i usually don’t like people playing with my groceries, but the ice cream handler/scooper had mad skills…too funny

Hi, we will be cruising out to Athens from Istanbul, could you tell me if it is easy to leave the port in the morning and return to the ship in the afternoon, from other's video, it showed there were many check points for passport, luggage,..drugs...etc before entering the ship. Thank you for your information.
Unfortunately, I don’t know what it’s like to cruise from Istanbul into Athens, but the cruise port in Athens is Piraeus, which was about 45 minutes drive away from Athens city center. Moreover, there was traffic getting out of Piraeus port. We had prearranged transfer and even the van took a while to arrive into port because of traffic. I’m sure there are alternative transportation options that I’m not familiar with. Good luck with your planning!

We booked right at the port when we got there. There’s a lot of vendors right outside Galata port.

@@meihoang6044 we didn’t buy any tickets. All the places we went inside were all free entrances. The only thing we paid for was the van
