The glowwww ✨✨✨ I know I told you guys about Mario Dedivanovic’s master class with Laura Mercier on Instagram awhile back, but it needed to be said here on youtube of what I learned from Mario. This technique is so bomb-especially for the girls who are about those fresh, flushed, vibrant makeup looks. Everyone and their dog has been using Laura Mercier’s Translucent Setting Powder since it came out 😂 But their new translucent setting powder - glow is a must to try out. It just gives you this supernatural radiant finish without it looking over the top.
Anyway, I hope this technique really helps you guys out-it’s even perfect for an everyday makeup look (in my opinion-y) 💁🏽

hmmm would the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder be a similar concept?
That is a finishing powder, so it probably isn't normally used to actually set foundation. But you could definitely try!

I use the hourglass one to set my makeup and I love it! Gives the same affect but this powder might give a smoother appearance because it is loose

Beautiful! I wouldn’t call this new technique though. There are lots of “glow from within” highlighters like the hourglass ambient light. Jaclyn hill also used a similar face powder (Marc jacobs I think) to achieve this in her foundation routine from a few months ago! BUT I’m sure the Laura mercier one is iconic and I’m still going to be purchasing it 😂

I've been loving the glow from within look! I personally don't have a need for the powder but I love the concept. I learned a technique from Wayne Goss and I think Desi did this too where you apply bronzer, highlighter, and then blush to diffuse the glow. I think this powder would be great for mature skin or for those who have issues with texture and highlight can overemphasize that.

I agree with you @LizaJane2010, it's a toned down highlight imo... which is exactly what I've been looking for this past 2 years! While I'm excited about the product, if you're a fan of super shiny highlights, I don't think this product is for you.
Set down is setting where you DON'T want shine such as your under eyes with no glow. Set up, is bringing the planes of your bone structure to bring forward the luminosity of your skin without all the damn glitter that makes you look sweaty af. Desi explained it perfectly. 4:01 - on...
@LizaJane2010 i absolutely agree. It's a marketing strategy for the company. If you applied a highlighter lightly, i am certain you can get the same effect or something similar

The way I see it is that you’re setting down the areas you want to keep matte or that get oiler than other parts of the face, while keeping the parts you want glowy bare at first and then setting up the high points of the face you want glowy by setting it with the Laura Mercier glow powder. So instead of setting the entire face with a matte powder and then throwing another layer of powder highlight on top the LM powder does both the setting and the glow. What I’ve heard is it’s not really a highlight it’s meant to bring luminosity to even the entire face if you want a light dusting all over if you want an overall fresh looking glow. But it won’t give you a blinding “highlight”, hope I made sense, that was my take on it!
No.. she just put it where you would put highlight for some reason! It’s a setting powder! You can set your whole face with it and it gives your skin a nice soft glow all over! Same as the hourglass ambient lighting powders! Lancôme has a nice one as well like it as do Nars and Tarte!
When Laura Mercier first started her line, she had an amazing liquid foundation. It was the only foundation ever to match my complexion perfectly. People would think I had flawless skin. Thats the kind of foundation I love. When people legit think it's your natural skin. Then she changed the formula and it wasnt the same. I haven't been able to find anything similar since then.

Or you can do what Wayne Goss has taught makeup artists to do. Place the highlighter where you want, then set with a setting spray. And then grab a buffing brush with powder and buff the face. And you get the exact same thing as using the Laura Mercier Glow powder.

do you have oily/combination skin? I wouldn't know, given that I have dry skin, but she says that it really helps keep the shine at bay.

Unfortunately I can’t use Laura Mercier Translucent Powder anymore because it’s constantly breaking me out. The corn starch in it breaks me out a couple days later after even just once use. And I’ve seen the new translucent glow powder, it’s gold flecks in the same powder but it makes me look funny because of the gold flecks. I wish they did more champagne flecks in it but oh well I can’t use that either because of the corn starch. Now I use the Too Faced Born This Way Setting Powder.

I wonder if the cornstarch free version of her regular powder is as good? Cornstarch breaks me out :-/. People if you’re breaking out consider eliminating cornstarch products! the glow is beautiful though. 🤔 maybe the cornstarch is what makes it sooo good 🧐🧐🧐

Yeah I think Laura mercier was late to the game.. there’s already others brands with glow setting powders like this out! Hourglass for example are highly known for it!
I seen someone else use this and they said it just seemed the same to them and hardly glows at all but it showed up gorgeous on desi’s skin!!
