@curtisskeete Cody was doing the buffing in the video, my bone corian knife I did myself. Buffing is fairly easy. If you have a drill press or high speed drill, you can go to home depot and get a small buffing kit.
@shippen2010 Hey Shippen. I get my belts from supergrit(dot)com. When polishing the edge on a knife, I use belts on the 2x72 which go from: 50 grit ceramic, 120 grit, 220 grit, 320 grit (SC) , 400 grit cork, 800 grit cork, "polishing" grit cork, then a wool felt belt charged with chrome oxide compound. For the 4x36 for handle work, I use a 40 grit, 80 grit, and 120 grit. Zirconia belts are what I use for this.
Was that Cody or you buffing out that micarta? I am making a blade & would love for you to make it look all pretty & shiny like that, & I willing to pay for your services. That looked awesome!
@spr00sem00se No matter what someone isn't happy. I took video of what he was working on for the day. Another time I will get him cutting, profiling and grinding the bevels, and hardening/tempering.
Hey SkogKniv; love your vids man. What glue is Cody using there on the loveless bolts and lanyard tube? I was also admiring your knife at the end, loving the corian and the profile you've gone for there - how wide is your handle in the palm swell? I find most are too slender but yours looks ideal
@SkogKniv it would have been nice to see the process on here, otherwise it looks like he just uses a steel bar and doesnt do anything after cutting it, its a nice looking knife though, kind of woodlore looking
What is the thickness of the slabs he uses on his knives(pre-shaping)? I have purchased some Bernie Garland blade blanks and need to get an idea on the handle thickness. I have larger hands and find adventure sworn knives very comfortable. To me those seem to be around 1/2in(pre-shaping). Can any one tell me?
Depends on the material man. Corian gives you a little more than 3/8" thick, while some stabilized wood gives you barely 3/8" thick. Cody now has much of his wood custom cut and stabilized.
Adirondack Woodsman I see. I am able to find some wood stock online from usaknifemaker.com. A lot of the wood burls I can order are well over an inch which is good if I plan on getting 1 block and ripping it down into 2 on my table saw. but to get something ready to glue and shape I am thinking of something around an inch or 3/4 at the least. Because I have large hands, a "fatter" palm swell is more towards my liking. I will start posting a work log on BCUSA soon(alb1088). Thanks for the info.
Really nice documentary of the making.
awesome vid. great insight on how a knife is made from start to finish.
great stuff,, fun to see, thanks

As always, great soundtrack!
It's amazing people like Adventure Sworn can
@ThePathfinder71 I have included Adventure Sworn's contact info in the video description.
That was a great video. What grit do you use for your sanding belt and do you know where i can get grits above 320? I need 400, 600, 1200.
@spr00sem00se You mean hardened, then tempered. He has an electric forge. He hardens them, then temper cycles them.

how are the blades tempered after being cut with a disc cutter?
Also how did you do the beveling on the blade?
