- Méribel like you've never seen before. This week we take you on an extraordinary adventure in the Méribel valley with once in a lifetime winter activities in the heart of the largest ski area in the world, the 3 Valleys.
Meribel is one of the prettiest ski villages in France with its beautiful wood clad and chalet-style buildings spread across the valley.
We were so lucky to have both incredible snowy conditions with plenty of powder as well as many stunning perfect sunny days which made for great filming conditions.
The winter activities in this video show you that there is much more than just skiing on the slopes in Meribel which happens to be part of the 3 Valley and at the heart of it, the largest ski area in the world.

Every school holiday, his loved ones and himself would leave their home in Paris and enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of this stunning mountain region. It was here that he developed a sincere love for the sport of skiing, as well as a wealth of knowledge regarding the best places to stay and ski. These memories stayed with him long after he moved to Australia as a teen.
After school, Gilles spent the first decade of his career working in the travel and tourism industry selling worldwide ski holidays to the Australian market. However, Gilles knew he had more to offer so he decided to venture out on his own.

The ski area is so massive, it takes days to be all tracked out on powder days

Also, this is what I highly recommend doing:
First Tracks with breakfast (or skip it) once a week on Thursdays and Tickets cost €35.
It comes with breakfast at the top of the mountain, but the highlight of this experience is not just the stunning views at sunrise at the summit of Saulire but you get to either have the very first runs on perfectly groomed pistes or if you’re lucky, fresh powder!!!
Book lunch at Le Clos Bernard, located in the forest of Alitport (get there by skiing or horse sleigh ride (highly recommended)

Book lunch at Maya Altitude

We are considering Merible for our 1st ever ski trip over Christmasfor a week. What area would you recommend we stay in? We all will need ski lessons aswell
Hi Brenda, I wouldn’t consider for too long for Christmas 🎄 week at this stage as most of the accommodation in great location and standard is already booked up since we’re only 8-9 weeks away 😬

Where is the powder are? And did u took a guide for the off piste? I’m looking for one, thx
I always recommend getting a local guide when going off-piste. We work with Oxygene Ski School and ESF.
On those powder days in the video, they’re mainly on the side of slopes
How did you travel from the airport? Did u take private transfer and how much? Do u recommend to travel by train or plane
If travelling from Paris, catch the TGV 🚄 fast train to Moutiers train station.
If flying, Geneva has the most accessible international flights. From Geneva airport, we only book private transfers as it’s the fastest and most convenient way to get to your accommodation in Méribel or any of the French ski resorts in the Alps.

First Tracks takes place every Thursday throughout the winter from 08:10
Why no helmet? Is it because you all get free health care in Europe?
I usually just wear my helmet in the snowparks but you’re right, I should wear it all the time
