@@marymarymillidweeb2661 I wouldn’t say they’re necessarily stepping into any vacated roles-they’ve always been quietly supporting the Queen in the background along with the Kent siblings and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. The younger generation is more interesting and of course Charles is the future king, but the Wessexes have been excellent representatives. Until William and Kate finally stepped up in the last couple years, they were almost always the ones that would be sent to continental royal events-Edward is even godfather to one of the Queen of Denmark’s grandsons which I think says a lot about their relationship to the other royal families :)

Prince Edward was tactful and dignified in his response to that nutty reporter who should have never asked about the wayward Harkles in the first place. He was just fishing for a quote to use against the royal family on behalf of those two miscreants in the Montecito McMansion who hurt Prince Philip deeply with their actions and vicious words against the queen and the royal family in the last days of his life. Airing one's dirty laundry in public (like Diana did, and like Harry's wife did just recently) is just not done without consequences..., like being shunned by the family because the dastardly duo can't be trusted not to turn anything the royal family members say into a real-world intercontinental reality show (written and directed by Harry's psychopathic malignant narcissistic wife, produced by Oprah Winfrey, assistant producer Gayle King). The royal family may forgive them, but people who admire the queen and most of the rest of the royals for their dedication to duty on behalf of the UK and the Commonwealth will certainly not forgive them.

@@bevanderson6245 you seem and sound intrinsically prejudiced and are hearing and quoting things that are not there. The Murdoch press is not the oracle of Delphi and how Prince Philip or the Queen felt or reacted to the very benign interview not naming anybody in particular just stating the helpless sadness inside the apparatus of the institution. You also forget the statements and criticisms that Prince Charles made about his mother and father his wife at the time. Not to mention the leaked tampon prince with Camilla and throwing Diana under the buss by not accepting responsibility for the failure of the marriage after marrying a 19 year old when he was in his mid thirties. The awful behavior in public the nasty ridiculing of the young mother of his children. William and Harry have deep scars from this absentee father who depends on servants instead of intimate contact with them. Playing polo or going on a hunt is not how you show love or care for adolescents. Diana gave them a solid base for not accepting BS and going along pretending that problems don’t exist when swept under the carpet.

Usually, sims of the Sovereign outrank grandsons, so Andrew and Edward would typically come ahead of William and Harry at events, although the Court Circular does put William ahead as future king. But based on precedence, Edward is technically the more senior royal on the basis of being a son of the Queen rather than a grandson. And since there isn’t any precedence for great-grandkids, the Queen’s cousins and non-royal nephew Lord Snowdon, actually outrank George and Louis in the line of precedence too.
