Rain brings hope and prosperity to coffee farmers in Rwanda. You may think that these trees just provide us with a delicious drink that may be a part of your morning routine or ritual, but to the farmers who grow the coffee, these trees are so much more.
One Tree Planted is partnering with the Kula Project who work to eradicate poverty through the development of entrepreneurs in Rwanda’s coffee producing communities. The primary way that Kula is fulfilling their mission is through the Kula fellowship. This is a 15 month gradation based program, where farmers are trained in coffee agronomy and learn the best practices for taking care of their trees and farms to produce the best harvest and the most income for themselves and families.
In the Kayonza, Rusasa, and the Nyamasheke regions 250,000 coffee seedlings have been planted. To produce the coffee from seed to crop there are many steps involved from planting the seeds, to growing seedlings into trees, which then develops cherries. Once the cherries are picked they are processed and the green beens are exported to be roasted.
These trees are able to provide endless benefits for the farmers and communities from providing income which is used for healthcare for their families, school tuition, and puts food on the table. These trees also have been able to transform lives across all communities working with these projects, from increasing savings, sending their children to school and building hope, strength, and vision for the farmers. Every seedling and tree are important and can make a lasting impact and change.

We are a huge coffee drinkers, drinking 2-3 cups a day! There are 4 of us in my family. We can buy all kinds of coffees here in Australia and my 5 favourites are from Rwanda, Kenya, Sumatra, Peru and East Timor. ...:-))) I always have packets of all these at home. And I especially like Rwanda and Kenya beans..:-) THANK YOU! And good luck....:-)))

You can plant a zillion trees, but none of it is going to matter if we don't drastically reduce our meat production/deforestation.
We recognize that planting trees isn’t the silver bullet to ending climate change. However, planting trees is still one of the best nature-based solutions to restoring a human-caused environmental impact. We have seen our tree planting initiatives help countless communities and forests around the world and are committed to this effort.🌲😊
That's as silly as saying it's pointless feeding homeless people if drug addiction still exists. Whilst it would be better to tackle both issues, it doesn't make the former not worthwhile.
Also, you can support both One Tree Planted and support a vegan charity too.
I support tree planting and follow a semi-vegan diet.
