  • In our election process, one element stands out as a symbol of participation and integrity. It is the indelible ink.
Did you know when indelible ink was first used in Indian elections? Or where it's made?
This is the story of the indelible ink
An article dated July 19th, 1951, says President Rajendra Prasad gave assent to the Representation of People Bill, the main electoral legislation.
The article also says that each voter will be marked with an indelible ink on his or her thumb
For the first general elections in India, around 3,16,000 phials of indelible ink were purchased for Rs 1,84,400
However, till 1971, the ink was applied on the finger and not the nail. There was even a report of a would-be-bride in Varanasi deciding not to vote, saying the ink mark will not look good on the wedding day.
However, there were worries that the ink mark made on the skin could be removed with rigorous rubbing. It was in 1971 that the Election Commission came up with the idea to mark the ink on the root of the nail so that once dried it will disappear only as the nail grows.
    Where is the ink made?
Since 1962, the ink is manufactured by Mysore Paints and Varnish Ltd, a Karnataka government undertaking
The ink is based on the formula given by CSIR-National Physical Laboratory
The company received its largest order from the Election Commission for 26.55 lakh vials worth ₹55 crore for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections
The company also exports to 25 countries including Canada, Malaysia and Maldives
So, are you ready to get inked?

so deweaponisation of nuclear powers? that's what u support? the backward thinking of caste census and inheritance law, this is your idea of progress? hey its your vote, but unfortunately, the opposition isn't thinking straight.. so analyze the manifesto's of both parties and exercise your vote carefully..

@@daebo.o yes what happened in manipur is terrible and bjp is at fault, for not controlling the situation and preventing the disaster to happen in the first place, that doesnt mean the opposition is better however, national security is at its strongest india has ever been.. during early 2000's terror attacks happened completely inland and not confined to the borders or kashmir.. that was common during congress, now forget inland terrorism, kashmir is at its most peaceful era, tourism boosted exponentially & terrorism more than halved.. and coming to ladakh, is it due to congress that ladakh and its people werent recognised, now under bjp, ladakh gained union territory status and it will slowly progress to become a state.. after all delhi is also a union territory, so ladakh and its people need not be insecured, it will surely happen and yes many of their demands need to be addressed, but its possible currently only by bjp, congress will lose ladakh to china just like they lost aksai chin and pok during chacha nehru saab's reign.. however my fellow countrymen, look at how much india has progressed.. the railway department and its infrastructure has completely transformed, after over 60yrs of negligence and bad maintance, digital india is a reality, upi is now a world class piece of technology, used by many indians belonging from villages to urban cities, the revitalisation of our inherited culture.. and a super strong foreign policy to protect us from western/european propoganda.. yes the current government isnt perfect, but that is exactly why we need a stronger opposition.. and congress needs to develop as a political party first to even think of governing the country.. i mean kharge as president instead of shashi taroor? the insult and severe injustice of recognition to the services provided by pv narasimha rao and sardar vallabhai patel.. i mean narendra modi is an indian citizen who became a chief minister and served the state of gujarat for two full terms where people elected him with a vast majority and popularity.. who then proceeded to become the prime minister of the country, thats real democracy.. i mean whats rahul gandhi and his political achievement? lost amethi to smiriti irani, and ran to wayanand to cling to his political relevance.. well, its your vote and ive spent the time to type this to let you know of the facts veiled by propoganda media.. if you disagree with my opinions, lets discuss but please dont be brainwashed, you are better than that.. think critically, you represent the youth of the country.. be better..
