Really looking forward to getting this one in hand. Thanks. BTW, have you thought about trying a "pinky lanyard"? I like them for security and ease of putting on/taking off, plus they don't get in the way or snag too much.

T1 is realy a tool then the knife, but I like it realy:-) The T3 is more as a knife it in most of time can serv more easy, but with less chopping ability. You´ll see it, when I´ll finish the Trackers comparing video, but for some other using, T3 is more easy to handle and to carry also. From what I have read from the works of Tom Brown and tops knives; the saw was designed for the trap making process. Each of the three cutting surfaces have a designated purpose as well. Loved the video. In the process of making my own TB knife. I feel that the knife has one flaw; it is too small for a hatchet and too big for a knife. For a tracker and wilderness/survivalist/minimalist like Tom Brown it was exactly what he designed it for.
when trying to proceed the wood down into smaller pieces try instead of chopping with the knife place the blade on the wood and botoning the knife. make chop angels like an hatchet or axe. works more better and uses less energy.
The lines you speak of I think you mean rhe grain of the fibers, what do you think about the terava jaakaripukko puukko knife from Finland or have you used the 110 or 140 yet, I bought this 140 an love it,also they have a much bigger brother the 240 called the skrama an they are 80crv2 carbon steel, super sharp when I received mine an not super expensive but I also bought the leather sheath, great friction fit,easy to sharpen but all I put through os still sharp, I've barely touched up the edge, my bevel was straight as well,they aka like a skinning knife the Lil 85 too,just thought I'd share it with you.

@@forestmantis1737 thanks for the video. I’m highly considering this knife. If I have to bug out to the woods to survive, I can’t think of a better tool to have. Without carrying multiple tools, which weigh you down. I’m thinking the t1 would be the way to go however.
@@TurntoGod7 As I said in some of my videos, T3 is a better choice (for me) if no cold area (sub 0°C) - it is lighter, more compact, rust-resistant... T1 is great if you really need a chopper/splitter (+200g/cca 7oz). Otherwise, I like all of TOPS Trackers and many others;-) Thanks for the comments anyway. FM
Hi, thank you. Because I reprofiled the blade (secondary bevel), it takes a time on my Work sharp, if I can say, it was harder then on 1095 steel knives. So it is harder. I have got more 154CM knives and it is always the same - harder;-) But, the edge retains sharp longer, as I said and most blades from that steel is hardened higher then most of 1095 blades (55-58HRC) is. So, yes, it is harder to sharpen it (especialy the draw edge, it is better to have smaller stone with one half rounded side or rounded sharp. stone) but not only because steel, but the knives are usualy 59HRC as I know, but I´m not shure on T3 model. Uf, sorry for a bit complicated answer;-) FM
:-) You are right, but this is about the knife, not about my hands, so used it;-) And if you got the knife in your hand, you don´t want to put it somewhere, break the branch, then pick the knife again, it could be longer and you spend more time and some energy. No offense, I don't think you really know this knife. Perhaps you should watch a couple of people who do and then use it a couple of months before making a video on it. I personally have seen people make this knife shine. And I have used it with a lot less effort chopping. And you should see the feather sticks it makes with zero effort.

I didn´t say, I´m a Tracker knife expert, that is for the start;-) I made this video 3 years ago, so I hope my skills improved and, the grind of the knife too, which helps. I´d like to ask also, was it the TOPS T3 Tracker you used (and you saw to be used on YT, as you said)? Please, put here some links, thank you:-) And the last thing, we have to consider material we are working with. Here, it was seasoned after winter oak wood, trust me, it is much more difficult to make kindlings and other else "slicinq things". I saw many knife work demonstrated on kind of soft wood, then, you can use even kitchen knife to work on it:-) FM
@@forestmantis1737 T1, also T2. I have the T2, but I really want the T1. Heavy doesn't bother me. $300 does. One day I'll get it. I wasn't saying that to be mean. You probably did better than I did the first day or two I was using mine. But now after a few months. It's an entirely different story. Those things will make feather sticks like you wouldn't believe. The best way is to put it in those down on another piece of wood and draw your feather stick across the two surfaces that are offset that look like a hook. You can make a bird's nest out of the crap in just a few seconds. That Round part on the back is 4 scraping scams over your arm. What I don't like about the t2 is the weight. To light as a chopper. However it does chop a lot better if you move the contact further of the end piece. Instead of between the two uneven surfaces. There's one out that has a bigger handle. I think that one would be a lot better. I thought about removing the grips and making my own wood handle and extend it to make it longer. And make it a three quarter tang, by increasing the length... I've seen a concept knife where they just made the blank longer. But I didn't like some of the other changes. I'm a pretty big guy and what some people call a big knife looks a lot smaller in my hand
@@forestmantis1737 yeah when it gets seasoned an and dry it becomes a real B... Sometimes the best course of action is just batoning your cuts instead of swinging it. Especially with the lighter blades. Tell the truth, I can process most good without even using a night. Every once in a while I'll get a piece of wood I can't bust very easily. You can always put wood in between two trees and pry on it if you can't do it by hand. A person Burns a lot of energy swinging it a hundred times just to make a cut on a small piece of wood turn on I think it was 2 or 3 in thick. Sure it cut it but it wasn't very practical. In a survival situation you wouldn't want to use that kind of energy
@@forestmantis1737 one of the best processing knives I have. Cost about 10 bucks. I just thought it looked cool. It was off one of those catalog sites. But when I got it it was pretty thick and when I started using it. It Cuts like crazy. We had an ice storm this winter. And I was cutting through Frozen wood like you wouldn't believe. One blow to cut two and a half inch or bigger branches right off. Cut not broken. And it holds it's sharpness. Pretty impressive for a junk knife. It's not quite big enough to be a machete. But it's certainly not a knife you would carry as a knife. But you could sure carry it as a small axe. The only thing I don't like about it is the saw blade on the back. It chews up the Baton. It's pretty badass batoning too. I thought about putting J-B weld on the teeth. But it would make it look like crap. I'm not a big fan of saws on a knife blade. On the T1 I believe they are more for notching. Because mine would never be considered saw blades. On the t2 I have.
@@forestmantis1737 I didn't mean to come down on you or anything. I've just seen a lot of negative reviews on the tracker. I've seen a couple of guys that were really lost. It all depends on a person's skill level. If you got the skill. You can use just about any knife and make it look like it shines. Of course sometimes with a different design. You need a little bit of practice regardless of skill and that's true of anything in life
