There are some corelations between these. One factor I can recall has something to do with relative change in duration of systole and diasole. But I don't remamber anything exactly as of now.

So Inotropic effect results from altering levels of ca2+ taken from ecf not amount of ca2+ released by sarcoplasmic reticulum?

Both. Ca2+ taken from outside is stored in sarcoplasmic reticulum only. And for positive ionotropy, increased cytoplasmic Ca matters, whether it comes from ECF or sarcoplasmic reticulum.
