Amy is top tier! She had the patience and willingness for Sheldon and actively chased him!
It was borderline abuse to her and attachment issues on her part. But it paid off, they won a noble prize together, so Sheldon was actually a catch, and not someone with delusions of grandeur.

@@efugee "abuse" ? there were no physical abuse involved and if you mean emotional i am preeetty sure that any emotional pain amy felt were caused by here actions and/or her expectations how sheldon "should" react to her.

@@leahsincelejo7641 she isn't. She is very emotional, and affectionate. He is not. The entire relationship is her bending over backwards for someone who is essentially disabled and incapable of being equal with her.
The best Amy looked in the show was in that Star Trek uniform. Ooof.
Goes to show that if she ditched the grandma outfits and wore modern yet modest clothes. And probably kept her hair in a ponytail or some kind of style. She actually would look beautiful.

This whole experiment was how to play to genius' weaknesses. In Sheldon's case: Strawberry Quik, The 8-bit Super Mario Bros theme, spaghetti with cut up hotdog, train conductor, and the Starfleet lady's uniform.
They made space sexy!

Amy was literally the most wifeable girl in the series. She's smart, attractive, quirky, energetic and patient. Every mans dream girlfriend and Sheldon didn't realize it sooner.
I think Sheldon recognized it as soon as they first met, when Amy used the word " coitus", the word young Sheldon chose to refer instead of sexual intercourse

This is why Amy was far and away the best girlfriend/wife on the series. She always wanted to make Sheldon happy and was smart and patient enough to actually figure out how to do it. Compare her efforts to Penny and Bernadette and it's no contest.
I don't know... I'd say Bernadette was pretty in tune with Howard... he's just a much simpler man.

@@TheEvox81 Bernadette is very controlling. There's an episode where Sheldon and Leonard wanted to share their profit with Howard. Bernadette was creating doubts in howard's mind that forming a legal contract with Sheldon might be dangerous, even thou they stayed friends for a very long time.
@@TheEvox81 Yeah nah. Bernadette was straight up a toxic bitch, and Penny was no prize either, considering how she drew a line at Leonard having a bank account for himself but then proceeded to sell his stuff away to buy shoes.

Why does she look so much thinner in the Star Trek uniform.
They purposefully make her look chubby with the ugly clothes they would put her in for her character
because she is thinner in real life - check out the actress when she is wearing her normal clothes, from this period of time, in the interviews about the show outside of the set. She was always pretty, especially when young. Did you watch Bloosom? Mayim always had great legs too. They just stylized her for Amy, by putting on her baggy, grandma clothes, to make her look a certain way.
She wears several layers of oversized baggy clothes.

I think the bigger question is why she bothers with Sheldon at all. He doesn’t deserve her, and he’s too self-absorbed to even realize that. She does ALL the work in their relationship.
to be fair she her self is a bit of a hot mess when it comes to engaging with other people being in many ways just as socially awkward and hard to be friends with as Sheldon, making her investment in Sheldon and the larger friends group something she likely wont get any where else.. but yeah, she absolutely is doing most of the heavy lifting in this couple..
@@johntowers1213 Good point. She is socially awkward, although she became less so as the show went on. At first she was just like a female Sheldon, but later she became so much more normal than him that it became very believable she could get a normal guy. Stuart, the owner of the comic book shop, had a crush on Amy. (Not that he's totally normal either, but that’s relative on this show.) She had no interest in Stuart, but I wonder why. Really, anyone would be a better boyfriend than Sheldon.
Part of the appeal to her is that Sheldon is abnormal, it’s her field of study isn’t it? On top of that the appeal of ‘fixing’ him, plus their relationship was in her control in a lot of ways. In short, they were a good match that grew together as people and ended in way that makes sense to the characters.
He gradually changes in a way that doesn’t disturb him and he ends up as a much more functional person. Working together the two of them get a Nobel prize and a satisfying life. As opposed to him before where he felt he had to control every aspect of his life and those around him.
Thats why Amy broke up with Sheldon later. She realizes how much she put in and how much she was receiving was not equivalent. So hence the break up, and Sheldon's breakdown to realizing he actually does love Amy

I have this uncanny feeling that Amy's giggle (which she immediately controls) when Sheldon sings along and goes "boink boink" is a blooper.

It’s not a blooper, she makes that face to show the audience how pleased she is that her conditioning is already working, and she stifles it because he turns around and she doesn’t want him to see her reaction because it could ruin the experiment.
The other reason it’s likely not a blooper is because nothing especially funny happened here other than an actor saying boing boing to Mario music. They’re professionals, a small gag like that wouldn’t cause them to break character
The only thing I HATED about this show was that FAKE AF LAUGH TRACK.
That’s probably the most attractive she actually looked in the series. Most of the outfits they put her in had a very “frumpy” look to them, and I get that was how she was supposed to be portrayed initially, but if Penny can start out as a dumb blonde bombshell and evolve to being a well dressed and intelligent (not the same kind as the guys, but still intelligent) woman, then why couldn’t any have evolved to facing some better fashion choices and be more attractive? I mean, Penny is her Bestie, so surely she could have gotten a little better looking with her help as the series went on? But then again, Sheldon is her BF/Husband and he hates change, and loves Any the way she’s always been, so there it is.
She was the downfall of that series. She is a good actress and thats why she perfectly destroyed the series.
