- It's been a lean year for bears in Japan. A dry summer has left them with little to eat in the country's forests, so they have become bold and ventured into environments closer to humans. Bears have also moved into rural areas as humans leave them, causing a bear resurgence. All this has led to a record-high number of bear attacks. Elizabeth Palmer speaks with a biologist studying this phenomenon.

Yup! I was in Japan recently and I can say that there are bears in the Tohoku region of Japan, in fact the highest population is there in the north. I heard about two campers being attacked in Kakunodate, there are signs that say beware of the bears at night. There were reports of one by Chureito Pagoda in Fujiyoshida too, Bears are definitely outside
So why nobody told me Japan had bears
I…I hope you’re jokin…
@@kingrobotnik6950 no I’m not
It's because you can google it.
They also have wild monkeys.
I see this happening in the U.S.They'll be living in our backyards.
Till their on a plate with a side of beans…
I didnt know Japan had bears. But dude climbed up a tree!! At least it didnt follow.
Bears are probably gonna get moved to a park to be kept under watch. I also imagine the number of bear hunters are gonna grow soon…
Why are there brown bears at the end of the video? They have grizzlies in Japan???
There are black bears and brown bears in Japan.
'(Sigh)........ guess I'll raise bears, too..........'
Lmaoooooo that bear was small
It was hungry. Hunger will do that to an animal, especially an orphaned bear whose mother is most likely dead. Bears are still wild animals regardless of size.
Still bigger than a dog. You have never been bitten have you?
@@towritemichelle210 Many dog breeds are larger than that, but even so it's very scary.
@@towritemichelle210 has nothing to do with nothing you ppl take random comments you read way too serious.
@@eanderson1974 obviously but he was unharmed besided a torn pair of pants....lighten up jeez
Omedetou Gozaimashita Naoya Inoue!
Ah, the Japanese do it once again.
Yes its a fact that bear spray is more effective than even a shotgun for bears. Something Americans need to learn (on many levels)
Excuse me but the forest is *theirs* . How about only top notch stock procreates and humans learn some respect for the wildlife we robbed!?

this is like Elisha from the Bible #ThyKingdomCome
Is this fake news?
If the video showing the bear is real. The bear looks well fed and at full weight. When food is spar the bears coats are baggy which are signs of being malnourished.
In that clip they literally said the bears cubs were nearby. That's why she attacked.
It’s not fake! Seriously dude?
Don't the bears know that after eating an Asian. They're just going to be hungry again in a hour! lol
12 year old.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂🤜🤛
Edit: and lol@ your screenname too! 😂😂
Destroy their home and what the hell do you expect ? I feel horrible for the bears
