This video should be shown to girls in school when they are taught about puberty and periods. It is very educational. Love you Ingrid.
Should be a mother or fathers role !!
+Cajun Spice not every mother or father is comfortable talking about it or is educated on it. for example i only grew up with my dad and he had no idea to use a tampon.
+Cajun Spice not everyone has a mother or father to teach them
yessssss
That's what I thought! Would be so helpful!
ingrid teaches more stuff than a 5th grade health class this is so useful for younger gals starting out :)
I agree I am on my period or pubity and do wear full size pads I think this is great to teach for kids who have just started there period
true
yes
So true! Thank you Ingrid!
I was homeschooled for most of the 5th grade ... I don't know any thing
Im honestly glad Im not the only person who prefers pads
omg same i use pads i dont like tanpons and ive never used a diva cup but i like pads way better
Same. I've tried ramping before but they either dont sit right and feel like it's falling out when I walk lol or they leak, or sometimes just wearing one stops my period until I take it out then I starts again. Pads are way easier!
+Steff Christie ramping haha I meant tampons
same
i also prefer pads
I was on the subway in New York the other day, and there were so many ads for thinx. It's that period underwear that holds two tampons worth of blood. They were very straightforward, just essentially saying "periods suck, let us help, it's not gross". Seeing those ads in public made me really happy, though, because it destigmatizes periods, which happen all the freaking time.
+Becca Moses That's amazing! I hope that that mentality will spread
My 13 year old self could have really used a video like this back in the day. Lol hope this reaches out to the younger girls who need it
Omg I love you
I love you! +Jaaackjack
Yes, i am 13 and im in my period now hahaha thanks girls
thats me. lol. recently started but its SUPER irregular. ill be 14 in a few months
I'm 14 and just got it in November... So thankful for this video! Although I've only got it twice because for me it's every two months but for eight days.............
A tip for sleeping on your period: put down an old dark colored towel on your bed just incase you leak. You'll have that extra security and don't need to worry as much.
I do that!!!
That's such a great idea, totally copying you! Thanks for the tip
#PadWearer Pro Tip! I need to do this!
+Kayla Goodman-Weinbaum When toddlers are being potty-trained you can buy massive pads to put under their bedsheets so they don't wee on the bed, they are super cheap and really useful if you leak during the night :)
or under your sheet, put down a trash bag and then a towel (to cut down on crunchy bag noise) this wont protect your sheets but will protect your mattress!
honestly? these comments are so nice. literally, not even one of them is a hate comment or spam etc etc.. I love how a video about pads and tampons can bring women closer because y'know we experience the same things and we find a relation . 🌸
(Not just women, there's trans and non binary etc.) BUT YES THE COMMENTS ARE NICE YE
I agree 😊
+Phanic! At the Broadway like no hate i just wanan understand how can trans have period and what is non binary?
+Neseine B Non-binary usually refers to any genders that aren't male or female, such as gender neutral, gender fluid, demiboy etc. Transgender people can have periods because if someone is FtM (female to male, which means they were said to be female but they feel they are male) means they still have the female sex organs, like a uterus. And with a uterus, comes a period! However if a FtM trans person takes testosterone, that can lighten their period or eventually stop it. Hope this helped! :)
Sophie yes thank you very much
Now the real question is how come you weren't my middle school health teacher omg
Also to all the young ones with vagina's: a few fears I used to have about tampons cleared up!
- the string isn't going to break off, it really won't.
- it's almost impossible to get in too far, there's a lot of room up there and you figure out a perfect placement within a few tries.
- You won't forget to take it out. / You won't accidentally put another one in. / You won't forget it's there... Why? Because you will notice the string every time you go to the bathroom.
- Your body won't suck it up all the way in because that's not how your vagina works.
+denise van wijk how do you take out, by pulling the string??? but that doesn´t make a blood disaster?
+Andrea Blanco Have a big folded part of toilet paper ready. Like fold it so its double as thick. But keep it big as in two parts in length. Take it out on the toilet. Don't sit down but crouch a bit. Pull the string slowly until it falls out and lay it on the toilet paper. You can roll it up in there and throw it away without getting blood everywhere.
It might still get on your fingers, the tampon might swing or flop and drip, the toilet paper you have ready might not be enough at the first try but practice makes perfect.
I dont know how other people do it but this is the solution I came up with.
I know it sounds like a lot but it's real easy once you understand how to work it. Just make sure you're above the toilet for any drops and have some paper or even a pad ready in the other hand to put it away in. That way even the bathroom's dustbin stays clean. Yay.
Good luck xx
thanks
This comment makes me really mad...
-Yes the string might break off, if it does, you reach in there with your fingers and you go get it. If you can't find it you go see your doctor to take it out (but you probably will find it).
- It IS impossible to get it in “too far” because the vagina canal is only 3 to 5 inches deep.
- Yes you might put two in by accident or forget you had one its happened to me and to my friends but as soon as you notice you pull it out and it's no big deal. If you're really scared you can go see your doctor and he can check you for TSS (it's still fairly rare)
- Yes your body might “suck it up all the way” because the vagina is only 3 to 5 inches deep and even if it does it doesnt make a difference?
And finally if you are too scared or you dont feel capable of using tampons its o.k. no one is forcing you and pads/menstrual cups are just as effective.
+Sab East well now I will be afraid of them once more, jeez thanks.
The chance of the string breaking or the thing getting up in there too far is so obviously, non existingly small that there is no point being afraid because of it. Everyone should however indeed know to go to a doctor when something goes wrong. And of course I agree with your last statement. Don't use tampons if you don't want to. Just like Ingrid said. Please don't be upset. I just tried to make the whole experience easier for others.
CAN WE TAKE A MOMENT TO APPRECIATE INGRIDS BEAUTY 😍
shes gorggggg
***** yesss xD
I think it will take too long for me to be still young when it will end...
+LADYBUGS64 so what? still beautiful.
Well gay girls aren't less beautiful to watch so I don't see what it changes nor why you are sorry.
She's gay good for her if it's what she wants.
She is gorgeous too.
For anyone who is interested in almost everything menstrual cup and re usable period products, a young lady with a channel "Precious Stars Pads" has a lovely channel. She also runs her own business, selling re usable pads.
Agreed!
I use the cup Bryony helped design, I love it. It's my favorite of my 5 cups.
Amanda T No go to my website. Look up Cherish
why did this end up in my suggested videos the day i started my period... youtube how did you know?
Me too!!!
Same. CZcams just knows.
Same here haha
Alisha Bradley The government knows all
Sameeeee ahahah
I've had my periods for years but I still watched the whole video
I'm nearly 30 and I still watched it!
SAMEZIESSSS!!!!
Same lol!!
Me too!! hahaha x
informative and light hearted just as it should be! Thanks for a cutsie vid on stuff like this, you'll probably help a bunch of younguns (and olderuns) out
Love your videos!
+doddleoddle totally agree!
I agree! Been having a period for 8 years but still watched until the end haha
I totally agree! Also love your videos dodie!
:O DODIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!
I've been using a menstrual cup for about half a year now and I am never going back, haha. Another option for people who really want to diminish their eco footprint, is cloth pads and crocheted tampons. Both are reusable, you just wash them with the rest of your laundry and you can get nice patterned fabric, and fun colours on your tampons etc. There's a surprising number of Etsy shops that sell these :)
I"m so happy to see this video from a big YT that is using pads and not shaming girls for it. u have no idea how women are sometimes, seriously forcing other to use tampons etc. when it's just a personnal preference and there's not any methods that is good or bad. It's up to each girl, depending on your period flow, what makes you comfortable and how long your periods last etc. etc. I tried tampons, hated it, i don't particularly like pads either but i have a low flow, that last just 3 to 4 days and it's the only method that i feel Ok with. Also, TMI but whatever, when you're a fat girl, it's kinda hard to get something inside you. I'm not that flexible
Love the fact that you promote pads in a good way. I've always been embarrassed that I use them but honestly I can't stand using a tampon ! People judge me for pads but you know. It's all personal preference :)
Yes! Ever since high school I've felt a little childish using pads (I'm turning 21 this year). This makes me feel a lot less childish.
+Amanda M. omg yes. i hate they say tampons are like for grown ups, but i just think its preference. i have never used a tampon, just the idea of having something inside of me the hole time and specially on the worst day freaks me out
+Amanda M. I'm almost 35 and still feel a little childish and embarrassed using pads. Like Ingrid mentioned, tampons when I've tried them have always been very uncomfortable for me, but I'm the only woman I Know using pads, so I've always felt bad about it. I'm still trying to get over that.
Low key pad user
+alyssa marie oh man no one should judge you for that haha they're the least fussy option what's to judge 😉
I'm 20 years old and have never worn a tampon in my life! #noshame
*Edit* - I still can't get over the fact that my comment is receiving so many likes and stories by you beautiful and courageous girls. I am happy to hear that we're in some ways very alike. Sending y'all and of course YOU Ingrid positive vibes and happiness all the way from Macau(China)
+CatHaven96 same here girl! can totally relate haha
Im the same age have had my period since i was 11 ive been using tampons since i was 12 i think its interesting though bc my younger sister is 15 and has never used a tampon everyones different
+Melissa Nicole Yass gurl, happy to hear that! twinsies :D Do you plan to sometime in your life? I don't think I ever will tbh.
+Hannah Rolph Oh wow! Interesting, thx for sharing :) Also I like how you and your sister have it completely different. My sis is 14, and she has told me that she will be wearing tampons when she gets hers :P
CatHaven96 haha probably not either, but we shall see maybe one day
I love how confident she is. I love this so much
Switch to organic!!!! So many chemicals in the everyday brands!!
I would if I could afford it Xo
Tina Perez it's the same price 😂
the tampons she showed are organic! :)
SofaBar as if chemicals are bad?? Literally chemicals are in EVERYTHING..you are made of chemicals
Anna S chemicals like bleach, and fragrance are commonly found in non-organic pads and tampons
I am 27 years old , but still watched this. Why? I don't know. Hahahah!
+MelsMakeup88 lol I'm 32 and watched it too, I wanted to know about the Menstrual/diva cup.
Yep same boat
+MelsMakeup88 lol Same. I'm 21 .
+MelsMakeup88 almost 24 and watched it even if I have period for 14 years almost hahaha
Haha same and I'm 30! Lol
The colour of your lipstick, nails and jumper are extremely relevant for the subject of this video Ingrid
She said that in the beginning :')
Just thank you so much for this video. I know 10 years ago when I started this would have meant a lot to me and been a lot of help. There are so many people out there who don't have access to information, or people to talk to, and having you talk about this, without stigma or awkwardness or apologies means so much. Thank you.
I love that you do these videos! Open and honest, the world needs this!
Can I just say how wonderful it is that you made this video? At first when I saw you uploaded it, I thought "why does this need a video", but then I realised how important it is for young girls to get properly enducated in the subject of periods and how much I would have benefited from this video back when I was that age. And even watching this now, as a 20 year old who has had her period for a couple of years, I still learned quite a lot! Thank you for making this video Ingrid, it really got me thinking how important this actually is and I'm sure this will help and reassure a lot of your younger female viewers
agreed. my school was pretty good and did educate us to an extent. but not as much as Ingrid has! wish I could've watched a video like this when I was younger.
+Eline Swarts I was thinking the exact same and I'm 26! I love that there are no weird jokes or any awkwardness, which was so often the case when I was getting my first period.
zebratsjki yea 100% agree. And no cringe worthy euphemisms were used in this video. My teachers used to call the vagina a 'flower'. (Shudders)
I had no Idea how a tampon or a cup could come inside of you 😂🙈 but now I know thanks to Ingrid. 😍 but that doesn't mean that I'm gonna try a tampon, not yet 😄 but nice to know if you getting your period when your out traveling ❤️😂
+Eline Swarts Yeah, even though I'm 20, this was really informative.
There's often things that you learn years later. I mean, I had the "girl talk" (that's what they called it at school!) when I was 10, and didn't start my period till I was 15, so I'd forgotten much of what they taught us in that one hour! I love CZcamsrs talking about this stuff openly, diminishing the stigma :)
better than any biology teacher
true
Ingrid has explained everything in the video really well but nothing about biology, she just gave very practical advice which would be more useful for most girls. the biology of period =/= practical methods of coping with periods.
I think it's so adorable that Ingrid made a video like this. She's in her twenties, but cares so much about all of her fans, including her younger ones, that she made a video about something she learned a long time ago.
I love how comfortable you are with everything. Your so inspiring !
Lowkey never used a tampon #padgirl 😂
I also have a beauty channel and I'd love if you guys could check it out! ♡
What do you do if you want to go swimming and you are on your period
What do you do if you want to go swimming and you are on your period
Lucy Hirsch I just don't go swimming (:
+Naomi Kenya same here! i never used a tampon before and ive seen it before and it looks hard to use
I don't get how people have to choose between pads or tampons , I use both ! only me ? ok..
I use both too
yay ! glad to know I'm not the only one (:
***** Umm not a convenient option for me right now , but hopefully someday I'd consider that ! (:
+Rehana Jomeen how do you store it, when you don't have a period/ or when you switch used/"dirty" cup for clean one. How do you sanitaze it, like boiling it in the hot water? And how long do you have one until you buy new one xd hahaha sorry for so many questions, but I heard that you're cup queen👑 hahah jk😂😄✌
+Marie Louise you only have to change a cup every 12 hrs so I always do it at home in the morning and after dinner. If you have to change it in public use one of the handicap stalls that has a private sink or bring a water bottle into the restroom. Dump out the cup rinse and dry it with paper towels and stick it back in.
I know I didn't exactly need to watch a 12 minute video on period management, but I love Ingrid, so I don't care what it's about, I like her so much
i love that how you are natural and also you are the best youtuber i ever seen.thank you so much for you are a good person that much.
Hey I'm early?!??!!! But I'm a guy.. So this video helps me in no way what so ever.. Might as well still watch.
5mins later: *mom walks in "what are you watching?!😂*
+JoshAdams HAHAHAHAHA, YOU ARE FUNNY :)
It'll help if you're straight and are going to have a girlfriend one day.. I mean you don't HAVE to know this, but it's nice
+JoshAdams Well...Thats awkward hahhaha
almost happened to me
+mpk0422 It will also help if he had friends or sisters too!! xxx
Menstrual cups are life, bless the genius who came up with it.
Does it hurt?
+Kaykay Jackson not at all! i started using one when i was 15, and when i couldnt figure out how to put it in the right way it hurt, but once i got it, it feels like nothing! basically a tampon but eco friendly, and you can leave it in for a longgggg time!
***** is the cup queen.Yeah it's great You feel nothing and you can leave it in for a whole day and it's not annoying as pads.I use the diva because it's the cheapest. It's been great the only thing that has been bugging me is that when go to bed it leaks. It didn't do that , but now it does. I love sleeping on my back, but if I sleep on my side it barely leaks.I know the suction is fine and everything, all I wish is to sleep on my back on my dot. Otherwise it's a god sent from the heavens.
can it get stuck up in you v hole?
+Rehana Jomeen I'm pretty new to the period world and I've heard that these would be the best method, although I haven't even tried tampons. I have a question though, it might sound really dumb, but is it possible that the cup could get stuck inside of you?
I've had my period for about 14 years now and I don't think I've ever watched something so informative! This would have been amazing to watch as a young girl, getting my period and not really knowing what to do. It presents the options available to women in a clear and concise manner without blushing or stumbling over words, showing girls that there is nothing to be embarrassed about. This video needs to be shown in health class for all girls to watch. And even boys, they need to know about this too!
Good job, Ingrid! I'm favouriting this to show any future daughters I may have.
I can't really stress enough how amazing this video is. My mom wasn't very good with explaining period things to me growing up and if anyone else was or is in that situation, this video would've been extremely helpful. Thank you!
I wear menstrual cups 😍Can't feel them at all, easy to use once you get the hang of it, and no smell. Also there are different folds for cups just incase your'e too small for the fold shown in the video 🙃
I love mine! Life changing. 🤗❣
I have been very interested in trying a menstrual cup. Where do you guys go to get yours? Is it something you could purchase online? I happen to be from an extremely small down that doesn't even have a Walmart and something like this could save me so much hassle seeing as the nearest place to buy femanine products is two hours away.
town*
Tegan Tegan McKinsley I purchased mine online :)
I want to try them, but I'm scared lol
It makes my heart happy that someone so well intentioned (and well informed!!!) is making these videos, particularly for young girls. I think most of us older ones didn't have anything like this when we were going through all the period stuff, my parents didn't explain anything, neither did my school, so it was VERY scary. Thank you for educating people Ingrid.
I'm also VERY tempted to send this video to my boyfriend because he's just like ??? at anything remotely period related. He's 25 and I had go explain to him where period blood actually comes from. "IT'S THE SAME HOLE?!" Poor guy nearly had a heart attack.
thank you so much for making this video. you really get down to the basics and the questions that people are too afraid to ask. even though I know about the first two options, it was really nice to be informed on a third option. please make informative videos like this again!!
i love that you talk about stuff like this! it is so helpful for a lot of people! love you lots xx
I'm so glad you're a pad girl too. High five!
Seriously though people want me to switch to tampons but they just scare me tbh...
And now menstrual cups too ahh!
+Rehana Jomeen Yeah I might at some point, seem really convenient and cheaper certainly :)
+Rehana Jomeen ive been reading the comments and I LOVE how youre encouraging everyone to use cups. People like you are the ones who end up changing the world
+Rehana Jomeen but doesn't a cup hurt or feel uncomfortable? It seems so big...
there's nothing wrong with not using tampons, you shouldn't let your friends force you to try tampons, but you never know maybe you really enjoy wearing it more than a pad. personally on really heavy days I prefere a tampon because I don't like the way it feels down there so I use tampons but other than that I really enjoy pads, guess everybody has to figure out what works for their body :)
When I have a daughter when I'm older, I am going to show her this video, this has such a great explanation for everything.
I have personally had my period for 1 year or something, and I still learned a lot from this video. Not many youtubers tell about sizes and the "application". So really great video, love you❤️
I love Ingrid! You are such a beautiful person and inspiration to young girls going through this for the first time!
Ingrid looks like Emma Watson
Yes! I never noticed this
The menstrual cup is obviously the most environmentally friendly as well :)
And don't forget reusable pads! Also you save more money in the long run!
+Stephanie Wothe everyone forgets about cloth pads! Theyre awesome.
+Stephanie Wothe Agreed!
Ingrid, your videos like this are so awesome. This is a great resource for young people getting their period that aren't totally educated about how to manage it. I also think there's power in talking so openly and comfortably about periods and our bodies. KEEP ROCKING!
I really love you. I honestly never followed your videos previously but from the past 1 year you've grown so much. You are you more. And I love it. Keep going ❤️
Lowkey i use an extreme maxi pad at night because its like a pillow :)
Ugh I hate periods and cramps
Yaaasssss
I love tampons and I totally recommend the tampon, Tampax pearl active. The applicator is a soft plastic and is super easy to put in. I love getting the box of light, average, and heavy flow because I use them all on different days. I have never leaked using one of these tampons. Over all I think they are great both for beginners and non-beginners.
I really wanna try tampons so thanks I'll have to go pick those up :)
I agree ^^
Those are the same ones i use but I've never used the super just because im kind of scared lol
In Australia they don't have applicators, you just shove them up there 😂😂
+jacqui dyson It's the same in France!
While I have had my period for a while, I still think it is wonderful to see this. Thank you for helping those who have just started, or are slightly unsure on some things! :)
I love this video and the comments section. Just everyone helping out each other and supporting each other is amazing. This is a subject that we all experience and I feel sometimes people are overly awkward when they don't have to be. GIRL POWER, people! :)
So refreshing that Ingrid talks openly about using pads, because some girls who use tampons can be so judgmental and unwilling to accept that it's a hygienic and viable option.
LOVE YOU INGRID.
And already the comment section is proving my point 😐
Precious Stars Pads is a great CZcams channel for learning about reusable menstrual cups and reusable pads. Using a water based lubricant can help with inserting a menstrual cup too!
+Ashlin S Yes! Show Bree's channel some love :)
She has a wealth of knowledge
orrrr use coconut oil!
+Shreya Upadhyaya I wouldn't use coconut oil with menstrual cups. Most are made of silicon, which coconut oil will dissolve and break down.
+Ashlin S Yaaas! She is amazing!!! :)
+Ashlin S YES! That's how I found out which one to try! It's the best!
the list time I watched you talk was in the 5MFU so I'm glad that this time that we had a lot longer than 5 min!
it's always soothing, like, your videos are the happy reminders that girls can/have to talk and know more about our bodies
I really love how comfortable you are talking about this topic, and you do it in a way that isn't awkward or too graphic either. As a 14 year old girl this video really helps me understand all the different options, even though I'm surrounded by amazing people who help me as much as they can. I can't wait to share this video with my friends because this is really great content.
This is a great video for younger girls who are still figuring out how their period works, and what to use!
I feel like taking out the menstrual cup would hurt taking out :(
+Hailee Palumbo That's what freaks me out about it, putting it in and getting out.
+Rehana Jomeen i tried using it multiple times with different folds and it hurt pretty badly every time :/
I'm so glad that you're so comfortable about talking about this. And, honestly, I didn't feel awkward or cringey at all while watching this. Good job!!!
Just want to clear up: whether or not you're a virgin hardly affects anything. *It's all a matter of how comfortable you are*. The reason virgins are "tight" the first time is because they may be anxious/nervous, which constricts the muscle walls of your petunia. Generally as you have more sex, you get more comfortable, and so you "loosen up" so your muscles relax (think about it, when you're nervous, you stiffen up, right?). It's NOT about hymens or whatever, although there is a bit of skin that could tear if you've never had anything "large" up there. This skin doesn't cause "tightness", your muscles do.
That being said, if you're a virgin and want to use a menstrual cup/tampon, there is no reason you can't. It's all about being comfortable. The first time(s) will be awkward. But just remember, it's a vagina. It's an organ. Almost everyone with a vaginas will have something up there at least once. If you're a virgin and you're comfortable/relaxed enough, you can fit your hand up there. Just saying.
Stephanie Smith I agree with everything you said, but i can't fit a hand through a nonexistent hole.
this makes me happy to see people bonding and being so open about something that is usually shamed and a awkward topic💗
I really love how she's making these videos because no other CZcamsrs make really informational videos that no one wants to talk about, I love Ingrid a lot
This is why I love you. So much respect. I wish someone had made a video like this when I was first starting.
+Allison Reyes same here. super helpful.
Its so interesting that people use diva cups! I never knew so many did!!! Great video!
I love videos like these! Even though I'm not really questioning what product I use for my period it's still interesting to watch and I always learn something new. And I love that the comment section is always a really nice and safe space for everyone to talk about their periods. Also I'm kind of more interested in using a cup now!
Guys will never understand the true struggle of a period, the cramps, the cravings, bleeding through... I hate being a girl cause period suck.
its the worst in like the first year when you feel like talking about it is the most awkward thing in the world, or maybe that was just me
Some guys do get periods (not startin shit jus sayin)
i'm a guy and i get periods
i'm transgender though
+Denver Howlter I'm glad you commented this I wish more people realized that not everyone with a uterus is a girl and vice versa
+Denver Howlter I'm glad you mentioned this fellow phandom member!xx
Ingrid! Thanks so much for talking about menstrual cups. They have legit REVOLUTIONIZED my period. I never dread my cycle anymore, and no longer feel gross every month like I used to. As someone who wore pads but also cares a lot about the environment, I love that the cup is reusable and can't be felt once inside. I wanted to share my experience since I'm too nervous to make a video about this, but feel like every lady needs to know how AWESOME these things are!
So I had heard about menstrual cups but was hesitant to try one until I watched Jen's (From Head to Toe) video, and decided to try it out. I legit haven't used a pad or tampon since October of last year. I purchased the LENA cup off of Amazon because it's made in California and I wanted to stay local. It also weirded me out to get a clear cup, so I wanted something with a little more color.
I really love using my menstrual cup. It's completely revolutionized my period for me and I've recommended it to all of my lady-friends (even my Mom). I follow the instructions and sterilize it in boiling water for 5-7 minutes before each cycle (and let it cool before using it, obv!) I love love LOVE that I don't have to worry about it for 12 hours. Usually within that time span I get home so I don't have to worry about cleaning it in a public bathroom. No worries about leaks during the night either! The fact that it eliminates odor is a definite plus as well. I just use a little Cetaphil cleanser to get it cleaned and pop it right back in!
The U-shape fold is easiest when you can prop one of your legs up, and I've definitely found it's hardest to take out early in the morning. You have to be relaxed for sure :) The first few months of using it, I did wear a liner juuuuust in case. It can move out of place and leak a little, and if it's less than 12 hours in I usually just take that as a sign from my body that it's time to clean it.
It takes a little practice but you definitely learn a lot about your body, how long your cycle actually is... and just to get a little more TMI, because the cup catches everything, everything else around it stays normal. Tampon users especially will know what I mean.
Menstrual cups really are amazing.
Sorry for writing so much.... :P
Thank you for sharing! :)
Thanks for reading! :D
+Deanna Clark Glad I could help!
+Wanda the Brave Thank you for posting this. I'm curious to hear about how you deal with public restroom situations when it comes to rinsing it out. Do you mind sharing your experience with that?
I love that she made a video about this very relatable
Thank you Ingrid! This video was extremely informative and also I'm so glad you are out here to make videos like this. This information wasn't really here for me when I needed to have it so I'm glad there is something out in the universe for people who have periods to watch. You rock!
American pad wrapper is so much cuter that british ones
+Chloe Arnold haha really? that's interesting
Nah trust me, we have some cute wrappers too :)
Apparently some Australian ones have facts written on the wrapper which is so much more cool
+Hufflepuffle only the Libra brand ! :)
You should see the Australian ones 😍
I really like the Always Infinity pads. It's like three layers, but just as thin as the ones you showed. It's great because it has these (this is gonna sound weird) holes that leak into a bottom "tray"/layer so you're not sitting in your period, and they're really comfortable.
+PipperPiper I haven't heard of them, but I like the sound of them. Thanks for sharing :)
+Sssophie I fogot to mention they also have flex foam, and yes they're flexable!
+PipperPiper Yes, they're my favorite!
+PipperPiper favorite favorite!
Thank you Ingrid I'm glad there's someone like you to help us with this❤
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! I didnt know what i was supposed to get u made my life so much better love this channel
Finally! I meet someone that is a pad person! All of my friends are tampon people!
Unfortunately, I am gonna eventually have to wear a tampon to go swimming, is there ANY other thing I can use for swimming? Xoxo. Thank you Ingrid.
+_Maeve_ _ You can wear a menstrual cup for swimming.
+_Maeve_ _ Yeah, the cup is pretty great for swimming too! Just make sure you use it a couple of times before you go out swimming. I had some issues with the vacuum hold in the beginning and you don't want any spills in the water ;
) Just get comfortable with it first, and then swim all you want!
+_Maeve_ _ I'm a pad girl to! I can't swim so i don't have to worry about tampons aha xxxx
Maybe the cup works the same way, I can't say that I experience one but it looks like it does 😅❤
I am new to CZcams. I posted my very first video yesterday and would love if you guys could check it out and hopefully subscribed. Thank you in advance.
Omg not Even my mother told me so much about Pads ect 😳but you might help a lot of Girls 👍🏽
And i've First thought You would like Talk about the Must haves like chocolate or something but still Nice vid :*
It's fantastic that you are making videos about periods! It's something that needs to be talked about. I would have loved to have something like this when I first started my period.
I love that you're making this video especially for younger girls. I always comment this but you are such a great influence!
THANK YOU for mentioning menstrual cups!!! They're the best
I wanna try them out but I am too nervous!!!!!
+Sallyboebally just do it omg i was nervous too but then i got one and my life changed forever its amazing! basically a tampon but ecofriendly, you can leave it in for a longggg time and its way safer!!
I've never even heard of them before, but they seem scary!
Sallyboebally Look up more videos online, they really helped me to pick the brand that I use. They allow me to feel SO MUCH more confident when I'm on my period because I know there is no smell and (almost always) no leaks
Bethany Smith They can be, if you don't educate yourself, just do your HW and they can be a great resource.
I'm a cisgender man and I'm watching this video....Eh. I just like learning.
but it's always good to know for the people in your life who do get periods. this way you, hopefully, won't be freaked out or ashamed if somebody needs you to buy them supplies or need to talk to a kid about what to expect with their first period.
+GoodMorningMisterMam the women in your life will thank you.
+GoodMorningMisterMam cisgender? what is that?
+Trisha B cisgender means your sex (biological features, like a penis or vagina) match up with your gender (loosely, what you identify as). so he's saying he has a penis and identifies as a man. there's a whole spectrum of gender and gender identity out there.
Well good on you
I really like how you discussed every detail, even down to the simple ones such as where the adhesive is on the pads. Periods are scary when you first get them! And a lot of girls literally have NO idea what to expect, which is unfortunate but it's the truth.
I love that someone like you are talking about these things!
Thank you for this :) love you and your channel
I think it's so sweet that you do videos like this. Some young girls don't have the positive influence or female role model, or the resources they need to learn about this! ❤️
Menstrual cups are way better than tampons! They take a bit longer to get used to but are way better for the environment, cheaper in the long run, and you can't feel it if you put it in correctly!
Also, no risk of toxic shock syndrome!
+Voerti Do they hurt to take out??
+Hannah D Sometimes a little bit. When I first started they hurt a lot to put in. Now Im used to them. =)
Isn't it uncomfortable when you have that big circular cup inside you ? I can't imagine how you wouldn't be able to feel that!
+Amber Myatt you don't even feel it, tampons expand to be the same size as the cup when they are at max absorbancy, there are different sizes too
Love how open you are about the different things to use to manage periods. This will definitely help out young girls going through puberty who are too shy to talk to their mothers about different options. Mine has never used a tampon in her life so pads it is for me. I have tried tampons before but I could never get it right which didn't bother me much because the thought of having an object in me for hours at a time just scares me. I have a super heavy flow and have to change my heavy, overnight pads that I wear during the day every two hours max if not every one hour. Those overnight pads would not last through sleeping no matter how often I set alarms to wake up to change them which always resulted in an awful mess on my pajama pants and comforters. My way of combating that is to wear adult women underwear/diapers when I sleep while I'm on my period that way I don't have to wake up multiple times during the night and I can sleep straight through.
I am so happy about this video's existence. I can't begin to explain the shame placed on young ladies about their menstrual cycle because nobody talks about it. As an adolescent, I didn't have anyone to explain this kind of stuff to me so I'm glad to know young women have resources like this. As far as what to use, there is no wrong choice as long as you research the health factors. Personally, I don't like tampons but I think Always Radiant Flex Foam pads are comfortable.
As a 22 year old girl, I loved this video because it is very informative and because when i first got my period i wish this video existed. So thank you Ingrid, because I'm sure this video would help a lot of girls out there :)
Team Menstrual cup!! I switched over to cups just about 7 months ago when another CZcamsr (Stevie Boebi) had a video about periods and talked about the Sckoon cup. These particular cups are super soft and made out of high medical grade silicone, made in the USA, and FDA cleared. Plus they come in super cute colors that you can choose from! After a few months of using the cup, I went on a camping trip and decided not to hassle with the cup so I switched back to tampons. It was the worst 2 days. They always say you can't feel tampons, but lemme tell you... After you've tried the cups and then switched back... There is ALL the difference.
+Cassie Lynn Thanks girl! I think I might order a Sckoon cup - they look way more comfortable than any other cup I've seen. : )
+Meghan Jane you're welcome! I swear it'll change you!
This is such a helpful video for so many girls who like me had no idea what to use or try. Great job!
Hey lovely, I really recommend you try a menstrual cup because it will make everything better, I promise. I bought mine just A MONTH AGO and I am wondering why I have used pads for ten years
yeah same, i used tampons for a long time, and they always dried me out like crap -> Getting them in and out was really painful. Menstrual cups are really great, i got them in first try (With tampons I tried for months!)
Fun fact: Tampons without applicator is more popular in Europe.
I noticed that too:)
I live in The Netherlands and actually I have never seen one with an applicator😂
+xxjoyce i´m from europe aswell and the other day i as trying to find those but they just don't exist (but i remenber 2 years ago there was a package of tampons that bring just one applicator) Sorry for my english
In France with have both everywhere. But I'm pro-cup ^-^
+Idellle I was seriously so confused when I saw a youtuber talk about them and showed one with an applicator. I would really like to try it though, it seems weird bc we don't have them but you never know, I might like it better :)
Menstrual cup all the way!! No worries about anything, eco friendly, safe to use and extremely easy to use even on the light days!
Also tampons in the states are creepy as fuck. Get the applicator away from me.
+Mariena Vermeulen tampons are creepy? Haha why???
+Jennifer Barstead the applicator is just creepy. In holland we don't have em with the applicator so when I first saw them in the states I was like why are they so bigg???? Hahaha
+Mariena Vermeulen Im thinking of trying the menstrual cup! But the worry I have is getting my fingers bloody when I insert my finger into the body to remove the cup. Also, what happens if your period happens to flow out while emptying the blood? Won't it create a mess?
+CUBEgenre well your fingers might get bloody but I don't see why that is a problem? Of course you have to empty the cup when you're on the toilet so you can empty it. :)
i love this sooo much! its sooo great that you're talking about this, i learned so much. you're amazing and such an inspiration to me and all ladies in my opinion, thank you soo much for being you and comfortable to be your own person even if its not the most popular thing. love ya
I find it really admiring for a you tuber to be so comfortable, caring, and informative to help us girls know about our periods. Thank you so much, Ingrid for being such an amazing person :)
this is the most useful video I've seen. I'm a pad user and I didnt know how to use a tampon or a menstrual cup until now!
The menstrual cup is awesome! I was totally weirded out by it at first, but once I tried it (and figured it out) I fell in love!
I’m just started my period last month so I’m really glad there are tons of videos online on periods... thank you!
anyone else love that Ingrid is so open about stuff like this?
Quite happy that she's a CZcamsr who talks about all of this :>
Nice video! I love how Ingrid doesn't say "vagina" only say "body". This video definitely will help young ladies! I'm pad user! 🙈
I noticed that too!
Personally, I would have preferred if she had just said "vagina" because that's what it's called and I don't believe we should shy away from words like that. Then again, I'm very blunt and have little issue saying "vagina" but Ingrid may not have felt as comfortable with saying it in a video.
+Amanda M. Maybe she avoided 'vagina' because many, many younger girls are not comfortable with saying/hearing that. I remember when I was about 12 or something, I would've died of shame if I heard someone saying 'vagina' out loud.
Great video !!! I’m personally a tampon girl, but I used pads for my first 3 years. Once I tried a tampon for the first time, I never went back to pads. Now been using only tampons for 6 years. But different things work for everybody and I’m so glad you went into depth about all the different things girls can use!
Thank you for educating girls everywhere! I wish I had this when I was in middle school. It's such a taboo topic everywhere, thank you Ingrid for being open and informational!
i switcched to tampons completely because i find that i have to change my pad every 2-4 hours and i change my tampons every 6 hours or so
Are they easy to get in quickly
+Bubbles bear once you're experienced enough with the it takes no time at all
wow, that's a lot. personally i think you're the perfect situation to try a menstrual cup. depending on the size you order they can last a LONG time. and since there's no tss risk, leaving it in for over twelve hours has no risk. you should look up "preshious stars pads", she has a lot of information videos.
+Martina Makek omg please please dont leave your tampon in that long! 4 hours is the max that you should leave it in before changing it
My period is so heavy , sorry to say might disgust some people . But i literally use ultra super plus tampons , thats right not regular not super not super plus but ULTRA and it lasts a fucking hour . Has anyone heard of such a heavy period!? The regular ones wouldnt last a second.
