Thanks for making this video. I actually imported all of these films from the UK but i notice nobody is talking about them. I've only watched The Last Emperor and I can honestly say it's in line for best 4k of the year. The restoration is incredible.
I’ve never had any interest in The Last Emperor until your interview. I was 12 years old when this came out in 1987 and I never had any interest. Your review has completely changed my mind. Unfortunately I’m gonna wait until it come to the USA market from Arrow. But now u have me adding this to my ‘must have’ 4k’s! To reply to your comment about you waiting for The Last Emperor this is an exclusive limited edition 4K release I reviewed in this video & is not coming out separately in USA because of the rights to this film in the USA being owned by criterion collection, so Arrow Video is not able to release in the USA this new 4K Restoration of The Last Emperor due to licensing!

To be fair, at this point I am not completely sure if Arrow Video was even ever aware of how badly my review channels have been treated by the new manager of press at MVD! When I was originally talking directly with the MGR at MVD she kept telling me that I shouldn’t try & contact Arrow Video to let them know about this situation & how badly I was being treated!🤔 Also she was very eager to make sure I didn’t tell them that I still hadn’t been receiving direct review copies from Arrow Video anymore either ! 🤨Hmmmm!!🤔
🙄So much is definitely wrong with the whole situation & I am hoping to get it fixed & resolved soon, 👎I don’t like issues lol!!😅

The Last Emperor is one of the most beautiful movies ever made and deserves a 4K release.
Do you know if Arrow Video is going to do a 4k release of the andromeda strain?
From my understanding of the rights for that film It’s a very high possibility & I definitely hope so because it’s a Movie that I love on Arrow’s previous Blu Ray release! I watched it originally in theatres & I loved the panicked disease 🦠 end of the world feeling to it!👌

I fell in love with the movie and I wanted to know more about the history of China. A lot of good movies around that time: The Untouchables and Predator! Lol, I thought I was the only one who cut out the side the shrink wrap to protect the bottom of the casing. We think alike! Great videos. I am waiting for my friend to get back to me so that I can order two copies of the Last Emperor from your link. Keep up the good work!

I saw The Last Emperor at the cinemas in the 1980s and I bought the DVD version a few years ago. I bought my copy from the UK because the 4K Bluray hasn't been released in Australia for some unknown reason.

Will the 4k last emperor play in xbox series x in the united states? Is it region restricted?
I ordered two months ago ended up with the bue ray version. Try to discuss wit arrow. Nothing to do. Can't play bluray. Have all the same box set but no 4k. So spend money for nothing.

As I was explaining in this video Sisters Brothers was just ok, it wasn’t my favorite western film, there was some things I liked about it & a bunch I wasn’t a huge fan of so it was really a mixed bag for me. Though I was glad to have another western film on 4K UHD📀, have you seen it & did you like it?
About The Last Emperor's aspect ratio: DP Vittorio Storaro somehow convinced Criterion years ago that he shot it for his own 2.00:1 Univisium format -- even though he didn't propose Univisium till 12 years later. For years the only options have been the wrong-AR Blu-rays from both Criterion (U.S.) & Optimum (UK), a Region B-locked 3D Blu-ray from Eagle Films (Italy) with OAR but unnaturally boosted color even in 2D, and reportedly an extremely hard to find Japanese Blu-ray in OAR. Thank goodness Arrow & Turbine didn't let Storaro screw this one up.
Alas, it may not get a U.S. 4K release soon. Rights owner HanWay Films (owned by producer Jeremy Thomas) now uses Cohen Media Group as its U.S. distributor; the Criterion will likely go OOP shortly if it hasn't already. So far Cohen hasn't released anything in 4K, though their distributor Kino Lorber has released several 4Ks. With those hurdles, I agree that the UK Arrow 4K is a must-own.
