I was four in 1970, when i heard one of his songs for the very first time on the radio: Can't take my eyes off you. They played it like 5 times the same day. Believe me, years after I could tell by the sound of his voice that it was not frankie singing.

Very Nice SHOW...but l could not think nicest words to appreciate this Show.
Il mondo wow he has the most appealing voice ever and that range just wow, truly amazing.
Nice to see the now late Ms. Lena Horne deliver her dear friend's (the then late Billy Strayhorn's), "A Flower is a Lonesome Thing", a song that took her quite some time to finally nail and meant so much to her because of the special relationship she shared with Mr. Strayhorn. Nice that Engelbert could lend his voice to those of so many other artists, and that all performances seem to be live.

This variety show was unique in the caliber of talent they were able to get week to week, keeping the comedy down to a minimum and the music to the maximum.
I'm absolutely loving these flashback episodes of his shows and seeing and hearing him sing live some of my favorite songs that would become classics. I hope we get to see every episode he did. Why haven't these shows been remastered for a DVD set and released for sale. They're priceless.

Vanity Fare music reminds me of Shaw Brothers movies in the late 60s and early 70s of the contemoorary era, whrre in the coffee lounge where drama took plsce, this kind of music can be heard in the background.
It brings back the nostalgia of yesteryear with all the bell bottomed slacks and jangled beads with the woollen cap over the head - the fashion of yesteryear.

After watching these shows every Wednesday night in 1970, I had not seen them again for decades and assumed they were erased, as wiping was so common in those days to record other shows. Wonderful seeing them again.
