"I didn't know what to expect when Maggie came over to the studio," said Bob Thiele, music supervisor and composer for Sons of Anarchy. "She said rather humbly that she 'could sing.' As you can hear for yourself, Maggie has a beautiful, captivating voice. For the actual track, I felt that any instrumental accompaniment should be minimal. Even a small acoustic guitar seemed to distract from emotional tone of her performance. I wanted nothing to interfere with the power of her vocal."
Kurt Sutter, who created Sons of Anarchy, was equally pleased with the results. "We wanted a song to convey the pain of a mother losing a son," Sutter told Rolling Stone. "Bob and Dylan created a beautiful lullaby, sung by the beautiful Maggie Siff."

I could never make it past the first episode, ron pearlman reminds me of harry from harry and the hendersons, put me off, might have to give it another go
It's certainly worth watching through. It gets better as it goes.
I didn't mind Ron so much. It was Charlie Hunnam. In those first few episodes he looks more like Levi's model than a rough biker.
By the end of the season you see that all the actors fit perfectly in their roles, and by the end of the show, you are totally absorbed and love (or hate, or both) every single one of them, and couldn't see anyone else in the role.
Definitely you have to watch it. Watch the first season, trust me you will be hooked. I have missed a few shows first time around by giving up after the first couple of episodes. Now I have a deal with myself to at least watch 1 whole season, and then make up my mind.
With that I have finally gotten into game of thrones (although it is still a bit too far up its own arse some of the time), managed to finally get to the shield, breaking bad and even lost.
Give it the first season, then decide.
I wholeheartedly agree with everyone in favor of watching the series. I've known about it for years but I just couldn't get into it. My brother finally convinced me to watch it and in no time i was hooked.

I dedicate this to my younger brother, Sgt. Zamora- US Army. who is being deployed back to Afghanistan the day after Christmas. He's leaving behind his wife and 3 kids under the age of 3. This is his 3rd time being deployed. May the angels look over him and keep him safe. I love you brother.

I googled this song after being a very dedicated SOA fan. I was having a rough time with depression and family struggle. Had it planned out, was gonna call it quits and take my life, end my pain.
I sat in the darkness, listened to her beautiful voice and the words of this powerful song. Ended up bringing me up and now is one of my favorite songs.❤️

Sons of Anarchy to me, wasn't just another show. I didn't watch it when it was on tv. I ended up getting all the seasons on DVD and finishing all seven season within three weeks. I fell inlove with the show. And now that I am done with it I feel sad. Because I didn't want it to end. And this song touches my soul. We love you Sons of Anarchy 💜

I watched the sopranos in the week over xmas and the whole of SOA in just over two weeks- it helped me immensely conquer my coke addiction as I needed to stay occupied- now four weeks clean and a lot lot happier- i noticed not once did I see anyone snort a line in SOA, i dreaded the moment it would inevitably happen (and tempt me back on the powder again) but it didn't so thank you Kurt Sutter for giving me the best two weeks of my life for a long long time and now i'm clean once more (after 12 years) and enlightened at the same time!!! Now I just get depressed over Jax and Opie but at least its not killing me!!
Abby Caldwell Drug use was a pretty common theme on the show. You'd have to be skipping a lot of episodes to miss it.

I discovered the most peaceful, comforting, encouraging, and empowering song I've ever heard. What a beautiful song. A lullaby, an affirmation, a meditation. It embraces my very soul. In my almost 23 years of existence, this is the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Thank you for this song, Maggie Siff and The Forest Rangers, and to everyone behind this song.

This was an absolutely amazing show in every possible way. I always felt bad for Tara the most, because all she did was love an outlaw - and that love ultimately led to her death. She was the purest, most innocent of the bunch, and she deserved better than what she got.

Every time I hear this song I cry, it hits me hard that in the show shes singing it while holding her baby because I suffered a miscarriage a few months before I saw this episode for the first time. Truly heartbreaking but such an amazing voice.

Funny, other than a very short and limited series for first 9, I can't imagine a single way it could come back. And I can definitely not think of any way it SHOULD come back.
After breaking bad it's the best tv I have ever seen, definitely, but to keep going would spoil it. All good things must come to an end. If they don't they end up not being good things any more. Like call of duty

I mostly agree. It was perfection. It could stand alone for time to come. That said, I have often thought that a way it could come back is to catch up with Able and Thomas years later. Able in the Sons, Thomas involved in the law in some capacity (sheriff, lawyer, etc...). The sad irony would be that Jax ultimately killed himself to keep the boys out of the life. But Gemma, by giving Able the SONS ring, gave him the one thing Jax wanted them not to have...I tie to him and the club resulting in the boys chasing his ghost just as he did.
