I got my hand on one for free by an old fire rescue crew...
Might just sell it because I’m using the petzl zigzag right now

Both of those lock off where never recommended by petzl, and you always need to use a braking Karabiner.
Assisted braking not auto locking, a popular joke is that it should be call a petzl slow.

Could I use that for rappelling down a tree? Think of using this method for when I climb down the tree at the end of my hunts.
