I was living in NY city at the time, nobody respected the Vikings, I watched the Viking games at sports bars all over Manhattan that fall, the disrespectful Cowboy fans and week 1 these nasty Buccaneers fans I met. Those Vikings shut a lot of people up. My favorite all time team.
I moved to Colorado Springs in 1992. First place, I was impressed with the Vikings fan base. More Vikings bars than Broncos. Wore my Carter jersey and my son had a Moss jersey. Worked with 2 other Vikings fans. We would wear our jerseys every Thursday during that season. I predicted the lost to the Buccaneers. But not the Falcons. I still have mot gotten over it yet....
This is when i became a vikings fan. Riding purple and yellow ever since. My favorite team and I still believe we wouldv'e beat the Broncos in the Superbowl this year
It saddens me still to this day. That was a great team. Randall would be in the HOF with moss and carter *if they won the SB. Nobody even remembers the falcons against the Broncos.
Anyone that says game is scripted can’t answer this. The nfl wanted nothing more than Vikings broncos. The amount of money for that matchup was enormous. Would have been a legendary game
When Mortons kick went through the uprights my clicker almost went through the TV, it was one of the best football years ever you had the Vikes @ 15-1 the Falcons @ 14-2 Denver @ 14-2 and the Jets @ 13-3 for the 2 championship games. My 2 favorite games were the first one against the Packers where both teams were undefeated I believe it was game 5 or 6 and it was in a torrential rain storm the vikes never looked back after that although they did get the 1 loss later. The other game was Thanksgiving day against Dallas it was not really a shoot out more like when you want to stop just let us know both teams put up an offensive game that maybe the highest scoring Thanksgiving day so far.
Moss a part of the 2 most explosive offenses ever. It’s a shame that Vikings couldn’t keep a qb for him and what his career looks like if he goes to patriots right after Vikings instead of raiders
Hard to believe that the Vikings season ended because of one missed FG. Normally, it's not a tragedy when a team misses a FG but in this case, it cost the Vikings a chance to finally win a Super Bowl.
not a Vikings fan, but my half-brother lived in Minneapolis, MN for a while..I saw a Twins game at the old dome in 2004..Anyway, MIN Vikings should've won 1998 NFC Championship at MIN..Vikings had a shot at New Orleans in 2009 and lost in overtime as well..It was on the road though..🏈
Worked at World Footlocker @ MOA in my late teens till 20. John Randlle and Randall Cunningham would frequently come in together. Chris Carter's wife was a regular and really nice. Was at the Falcons game when we (Anderson) blew it.
In fairness, it was not just Anderson's fault. The Vikings had a chance to score two TDs in the first half (one was a dropped pass in the end zone) but had to settle for FGs instead. If Minnesota had scored a TD at least one of those times, Anderson's missed FG wouldn't have mattered so much.
@@georgfriedrichhandel4390 That's really fair. I'm just saddened that Mr Perfect didn't make it when it counted is all. Being a Vikes fan is certainly challenging.
@@georgfriedrichhandel4390 I suppose it needs context for that falcons game. My buddy worked at the Dome and he snuggled me in thru an employee entrance. Looked like a phone booth and you went underground facing security checks. Even after we lost, clubs in Mpls still played the dirty bird song. I believe I witnessed Hammer and Evander G Holyfield on the sidelines. All that to see a failed chip shot FG.
@@R.J.1 My point is, the Vikings had several chances before the missed FG to win this game and failed to do so. So Evander and Hammer didn't just see a missed chip shot FG; they also saw a missed chip shot TD pass at the end of the first half.
This a testament to me that no matter how good a quarterback is he needs help randall never was thought of as one of the beat passers but as soon he get randy and chris the most potent offense ever 😂the nfl and media knows what they be doing
The Vikings can win yet Kevin O'Connell will bring the Vikings the first championship to avenge Denny Green lost to falcons .Rest in peace Denny Green.
I wouldn't say that...he's the coach not the player he did his best there in Minnesota...a winning coach in my book....maybe this franchise is cursed after there 4 Super Bowl losses from the 1970'S
I disagree I think it was Billick trying to show off for those head coaching jobs at the end of the first half when they were 2 scores up and Atlanta was demoralized they new every team that was two scores down going into the half time was crushed and Billick tried to show off going long and that was the fumble that put Atlanta back in the game . I dont think Green and Billick where very good friends in the years after that.
We will never know if MIN would've beaten DEN in the Super Bowl..DEN was very good in 1998, and I think the best team won the title for the 1998 season..🏈🤔

Minnesota made so many mistakes in that game. Randall Cunningham fumbled two balls Randy Moss dropped a for sure TD. Robert Smith's dropped INT. They allowed Atlanta to come back and win. Two weeks later we showed Atlanta who was boss.

Billick kept randy moss on short leash. Once he left it became tiredsome watching moss in purple.
It shouldn't matter to a point. I get it but still

Why didn't they play in the Super Bowl?
Gary missed his first kick in 120 tries
Moss was so fun to watch. With Carter, it was the best season to watch.
Agree.....I have seen them for five decades..this was the best..Favre first year was second best IMO....

Them and the 2007 patriots and the 99 rams the best offenses of my lifetime
2013 Broncos
2004 Colts

Rip Coach Dennis Green.

They dropped an interception right before Morton Anderson kick as well
Bleed purple till the day I die!!! SKOL!!
I enjoy watching these games. They actually hit their oponents.
Painful memory in they nfc title game , still the worst loss I've seen as a vikings fan (I'm 41)
I’m only 31 and I remember losing to the Falcons.., the Saints in ‘09 and and the Eagles in 2017. Painful

Saints game maybe just as painful considering favre at end of career and just needs to run for a couple yards and kick fg for the win
What's the song at the beginning.
Anybody know the NFL film song @ the 9:48 mark? I can't find this song anywhere..
The best receiver n the best season ever
After the 2007 New England Patriot, the '98 Vikings are arguably the greatest team in NFL history not to win a Super Bowl.
Next play: "Randy go and get it"...on 9
I know let's give up in the NFC championship
