  • Check out Part 2 of BLW video: • My experience so far w...
Landon is 6 months and she did such a great job her first week of baby led weaning. We will be combining BLW with her purees and milk. She loves the independence BLW gives her and it gives me a little of time to eat or clean up a bit. I didn't realize the brown bread from Cheesecake Factory has honey in it. Babies aren't suppose to have honey so avoid that! See links below!

It doesn't seem like she's actually eating and digesting much food? I think the BLW is a great method but always wonder if the baby is getting enough food, especially when they're first learning. She's doing a great job!

Food before one is just for fun...the baby will still be getting most of her nutrition from breast milk or formula until she's over a year old. Some cultures only give breast milk (no solids) for the first year of the child's life, because that's really all they need.

My 5 month old boy just started some cereal last week to keep his belly full in the morning and afternoon/evening. He's about 18lbs haha. Idk, I don't think this makes any sense. They eat purees because they don't have teeth and it's easier for them to swallow while they learn all the basics of eating normally and using a spoon. As they get better at it and grow more teeth they re able to eat bigger chunk and more in unmashed foods because they now can chew it enough to swallow and actually eat it enough to feel full. What she's doing here is just sucking on it or biting pieces and spitting it out. Shes not getting anything in her tummy. I don't know why anybody would give a baby celerys neither, a 2 yr old can't even eat it, they just chew it and spit it out. a 6 mo old is only sucking on it. This just seems lazy and dangerous and frankly unbelievable. Who thought of this and why would anybody listen to them. People will do anything. Looks bad, is bad.

I just totally agree with you on this. I am absolutely stunned at this latest trend. As you mention, it makes no sense and she could NOT possibly be getting the nutrients she is needing. I am sure she did grab kind food ... She is HUNGRY. The fads these days are SO out of hand. I normally don't say much to parents...but damn. This and that damn "cup feeding"....whoever come up with these needs their was kicked.. and people need to really think this out better.

I got from doctor that this help them to get motor skills and less picky eaters. And as for nutrients they still get all they need from breastmilk or formula till 1 year old.

Diana Rostran I did and it doesn't make any sense. They will learn everything they need to on their own. Why rush things that will happen naturally when their ready and to risk choking for it, really? They already grow up too fast. You can tell by looking at your baby that this is wrong. Your suppose to protect them not put them in unnecessary danger for pointless reasons. When their choking up a chunk of food and gagging and eye watering because it's uncomfortable and scary for them, just know it's you who are doing it to them.

@@lisawhitehead9477 there's actually no greater risk of choking if you do your research. And it makes total sense if you do it! Why spoon feed them and slow down their development. Does someone spoon feed you?? Food before 1 is just for fun anyways. They get the nutrition they need from formula because even with purees they aren't soaking up the nutrients until they are 1.
