  • I bought these at auction and when I finally received them, they were unfortunately inoperable as received due to various damages, some due to shipping.
This is a pretty simple tear down, and I'm still working on which camera angles I like when working, but I do go over how I took apart the units and put them together.
Next set of videos will be me actually piecing both units together to have a fully working one with a couple spare parts.
Most the tools needed to open the microscope are a T5, philips #2, and a Flat blade (thicker, 3mm I believe.) I used this IFixIt kit amzn.to/2PTPk7i , but amzn.to/2sVCuMW should have most the bits needed as well.

Nice teardown video. I bought even older Baush Lomb mcw552 from craigslist. Looks like it was originally used at Hughes aircraft as it still has Hughes property label. collimation was quite a bit off, and this microscope is not assembled like standard stereo microscope, so getting into it can be a bit challenging.

they tried to fix it and could not so they sold it to you busted. It happened to me also off Ebay. Did not know it was trashed till months later when i finally sourced a b and l stand. so too late to get a refund

Yea probably but it wasn't an ebay auction, but one similar. I can't remember which now, either hibid or similar. But regardless I doubt the auctioneer knew, the factory it was auctioned from probably did though.
