His offensive contribution his amazing too, he's always going in the spaces and is always gaining meters, that's not something you can't see in a highlight video, but his zone of influence is rly something that strucks you when you see him play an entire game.
Jeune LĂ©gende ok maybe he goes forward efficiently but I didn't a single good cross , he can ping a ball across the field but can't cross it . He may go forward well but I didn't see much of a final ball( which should be in highlights ) . If you look at him play he has all the trates to be a perfect center back , as you said he is fast and technical , which are good for retreating back , and to get out of sticky situations(which is where in this video we saw him use his technical ability ). He can ping a ball across the field, he reads the game well, he intercepts the ball well, he is amazing in the air ,he uses his body well to shield the ball And didn't Ramos and varane both start off as RB .

Now a days its no question he is to be picked over Marcello due to the terrible form of Marcello. I agree with those saying he is lacking in attack but bear in mind that first of all he is a defender and needs to cover the left back position first and then venture into attack. Marcello was good attackingly but left too much space behind him. Mendi is an excellent defender but no left back will ever come close to Roberto carlos, I mean the guy defended, attacked and covered the midfield like a boss. Him and Zidane bossed the left side of the midfield.

Real Madrid has a good enough attack, having both offensive fullbacks would mean being very weak defensively which Real Madrid was last season.
