  • We visit beautiful Wakulla Springs Florida, located just south of the Florida State capital Tallahassee.
    The water here is often times crystal clear but with all of the rain we had during the summer it was a bit murkey, but still clear enough to see down quite a ways. Lot's of really cool wildlife here and great place to photographers.
    This place is great for weekend swimming in the summer time!

      They have glass bottom boat rides there too, one which I took when I was a kid also. They don't run them unless the spring is really clear.

    Loved the scenery. I lived most of my life next to the Mississippi River. It's beauty is awesome. All to often, we become complacent of it seeing it daily. Seeing your video reminded me. Thanks for sharing.

    Beautiful place. Reminds me of Caddo Lake on the Texas-Louisiana border northeast of Marshall, TX. The spanish moss hanging from the trees is not a moss but a bromeliad and kin to the pineapple. After a rain it has a greenish color. It has very small flowers. It takes all of it's nourishment from the air.

    We have a spring like that in Michigan. Kitch-iti-kipi spring is 200 feet across and 45 feet deep. It's full of trout and it's a little cooler at 45 degrees. There is a raft that can be pulled across via a cable so you can get right over the top of it.

    Too bad you did not see the river in the 90's. The water was so clear you could see 185 feet so clearly to the mouth of the spring on the glass bottom boat ride. Last time I was there It broke my heart to see what we did to the water.

    • @AbomAdventures

      I saw it like that when I was a kid, I think I was in the 4th grade and we took a field trip there to see the capital and the springs.

    Kinda funny how their like I've never seen a gator so close lmao. I remember swimming with those over grown lizards 🦎 its good they close it off from tge rest of the river bc of the sanctuary bc I remember when one guy swam out past the enclose swim area and ended up in a log bc of the gators, its unfortunate but it shows what they can do and where you shouldn't be. Its their home not ours we are just fortunate enough to share it with them

    • @animezyy4583
      @animezyy4583 Před 3 lety

      Sucks how the industrialization of the area has caused the water to become murder then 30 years ago. Its beautiful but even more so back in the day. Hell I remember finding an 18th century canoe on the bottom of the river with my dad though I never did find out what they did with it. My dad wouldn't let me get to close since it was 30ft under surrounded by vegetation and deep mud. Them gators love sneak attacks

    • @MrRedforman1
      @MrRedforman1 Před 5 lety

      As far as I know, only one person was killed there many years ago. The lifeguard had told me that he was swimming too far away from the area. He said moments later, he saw his swimming shorts floating on top of the water. They never found the guy.

      James Feisley sure, swim at your own risk. 🤣

    • @pkeeney
      @pkeeney Před 6 lety

      James Feisley there are life guards on duty. If they see a gator headed towards the swimming area, the life guards will call everyone out of the water. If it hangs out for awhile a boat will shoo it away. Big gators don't bother, from what I've seen it's been curious juveniles.
