The holy diver cassette . Was stuck in my tape deck in my car in 1985. Somewhere out there I hope it still is ..
The sound quality of this is amazing and Vinny Appice is such an awesome and underrated drummer. He is phenomenal.
I don’t know if he is really underrated it is more like he is underrated because his brother gets more of the spotlight.

Vinnie is without a doubt just a beast. One of the best in the world.
Holy shit what a band. Dio the powerhouse. 20 year old Viv Campell just killing it. Vinny plays his ass off. Jimmy Bain growling on the bass. Wow.
He's 21 here, but just as mindblowing to be so great at such a young age.
Superband , if Dio, Vinnie or Viv weren't enough there he was Mr Jimmy Bain terrific tempo and tone, Jimmy's bass is one of those things you take for granted and don't give the respect they deserve.
So with all my respect, my honest tribute to you Jimmy a piece of the heavy metal puzzle of my life.

Mixed live in 83 and sounds worlds better than most of what I hear now. Maybe it’s just true talent mixed with a naturally raw and not over processed sound.
Bought the first album without ever hearing it. Read about it in a guitar magazine of the day recommending it. I was completely blown away! Still listening today at 61 years young. How about you guys? Vivian changed the way I played guitar as his approach was raw and intense like no other at the time. Made me a better musician for sure. Still can't believe Dio let him go later on. Vivian didn't deserve it for sure. Keep rocking everyone!
I've never been a big fan of Vivian's playing but that might be because I haven't heard him enough. I think his playing here is good, but the tone is just meh. I love the solo in The Last in Line though. I saw him live on the Thin Lizzy tour he did about a decade ago and he was very good, playing those Lizzy songs.

I saw Dio at the Spectrum in Philly for the Sacred heart tour. Best time ever. This show here is absolutely a miracle!!!! Wow!!! Pinnacle of it all!!

I had the privilege of seeing this tour. Nobody could have guessed then that Vivian (a world class shredder) would go on to play second fiddle to Phil Collin.

A concert that I remember to this day was Queensrÿche opening for Dio in Offenbach Germany, that was a good night to say the least.
This performance is so full of passion and magic from all of the performers that it's incredible. Dio and his bandmates in their prime. Epic!

THAT tone Vivian HAS on THIS recording/performance 🤯 One of the BEST METAL rock guitar tones I HAVE HEARD/fortunate to see here in my 49 years (and I come from the Rhoads guitar school from BACK when.) Yeah, I never seen THIS era of DIO till NOW... Always Sacred Heart and later stuff (also good) but yeah, THIS IS, WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT, 😏(obviously)🤘🔥🤘

Between 47:52 and 47:55, what an amazing moment..! what a legendary and flawless technique... This is a solid indicator that shows that Vivian Campbell is surely one of the most underrated guitarist of all time..

This LP & tour was such a great start to his solo career! I wasn't too interested in his Rainbow material, but went to see this tour in Pittsburgh PA (Dec. 11, '83), which included 2 Rainbow songs not in this video (Stargazer & Silver Mountain along with a teaser of Starstruck). Incredible night with that powerful voice of his. Still remember him getting out of his limo & greeting those of us who were waiting in line when he arrived for his soundcheck.

Was there as well. Too bad Stargazer/Starstruck and Man on the Silver Mountain are not included. I remember the adrenaline I got when I heard those riffs and Dio's voice. Great venue, you felt so close to the band, no matter where you were in Vredenburg.

The whole part after 40:00 is just so amazing, gives me goosebumps! When was a child in the eighties, this exact concert was shown on the Turkish government TV channel. My mind was blown away especially during Viv's solo and Dio's interaction with the crowd. And after all those years, it sounds exactly as amazing as I first listened to it maybe 30 years ago or so.
This concert contains some of Ronnie's best performances. Don't Talk To Strangers is THE definitive live version for me, he makes hitting those high notes seem easy.

I've seen Dio many times. Last time was Dec. 2000 in St Petersburg FL. I met his wife when I worked in the music biz and she told me he went to college for pharmacology and is an avid reader of fantasy novels. He sincerely appreciated every fan. RIP RJD.
