Here is a cool storyline: Dagon was in the east constantly battling Muto Prime, while Godzilla was in the west or south constantly battling Ghidorah.
So like each area of the earth has their own Godzilla protector? That’s awesome haha.
Shade of Arrows Gaming here’s my take on it. Dagon was Earth’s former Alpha Predator until the Godzilla we know eventually came along and challenged him for supremacy. Likely because he was older or maybe it was a case of youth trumping experience. But whatever case, Dagon lost and Godzilla became the new and current Alpha Predator of Earth.
That’s likely why MUTO Prime chose Dagon as the host for its eggs and how it succeeded in parasitizing him with its brood. Dagon was simply no longer strong enough to fend off MUTO Prime, which made him the perfect target.

Dagon and Godzilla weren't enemies, they were allies, but with them being the only 2 of the Godzilla species left; they knew Earth couldn't afford to lose them both so they began to take turns guarding the Earth from the Muto, Ghidorah, and other Kiju. While one protected Earth the other would slumber for 1000's of years to regain their energy deep in the Hollow Earth. Godzilla was near the end of his slumber when Dagon was attacked and killed by the Muto Prime. It was only after Godzilla awoke he discovered he was the last of his species and knew he had to get revenge for Dagon, but now also knew he could never fail to protect Earth as Dagon did. IMO anyways.
I wish it was explained more why this Godzilla has to defend the Earth. Why is his species and mothras species naturally always trying to defend it? It isn't like it's something from the source material considering even the Japanese often depict him as the bad guy.
I heard that Godzilla hibernates for millions of years, he was probably asleep
That is true since he's a archosaur from the Permian period. He has been hibernating ever since the Dinosaurs and megafauna ruled the earth for millions of years. Until he was reawakened in the ancient city (that resembles Atlantis),and in 1954

Why do I want to see a prequel movie about Dagon vs the Muto Prime
@Zakaria Azzouz I mean sort of but I feel like it could have its own uniqueness
I'm interested to see it too because there are lot of untold story in the past (like how Ghidorah arrive to Earth and how Mothra meet Godzilla) happened in the past and need to be told in the form of comic and movies
An ancient setting in the monarch universe could be possible. I can already see it about like humans using the titans as war beasts since monarch confirmed that ancient humans used horns n stuff to control the titans to wage war
@@linamayela I also interested to see Walking with Dinosaur style MonsterVerse Movies but with Titan making a contact with ancient civilization
@Zakaria Azzouz okay, I can see from your stand point. Just my opinion on thinking if it could give some great backstory.
That line about Dagon being the one to "lay the fallen star to rest" would certainly seem to imply that it was him who beat Ghidorah, but then that would seemingly undercut Godzilla & Ghidorah's ancient rivalry.
I have an idea. So what if just like mothra, godzilla gets reborn after he dies. It would explain why he didnt help dagon, despite us seeing in aftershock that when the muto prime is active that godzilla will chase after it. Simple explanation, he is dagon, but as we know dagon died. So after his death boom, he gets reborn. Just like mothra. All those times that the mutos ran amok and godzilla didnt seemingly get involved? He lost early on and had to be reborn so he couldn't be involved. Plus this would preserve the rivalry between him and ghidorah because if dagon fought ghidorah, but dagon is actually godzilla, then it's still godzilla having this one on one rivalry with ghidorah.

Nope! Same thing was gonna happen to Modern Godzilla if Orca didn’t interfere in his fight with Muto prime, I know as a Godzilla fan it’s hard to grasp but muto prime is built for killing members of Gojira’s species
Well I think it’s interesting to say that the MUTOs evolved to defeat the Godzilla species. Now that’s a fact as it’s stated by the creators, however is it said that they are indeed the ones who brought about the Zillas demise and dwindling numbers? They may have only recently gained the ability to defeat the Godzilla’s after losing to them for ages, but escaping to fight another day. However also I think it’s smart to consider like in real fights, you don’t really know who’s gonna win till they fight. Anyone can just say this guy would win cus of X, but in reality anything can happen lmao one could lose by having a off day or perhaps a random occurrence like getting dust in your eyes in the middle of a fight now leading to your ability to fight going down in the moment, but not necessarily cus your opponent is stronger or better at fighting than you. Every dog has its day as they say and personally I think Dagon just lost cus the fight was fucking tough and we take Big G’s winning percentage for granted, even as a Alpha Predator. All these creatures are dope and have insane powers, who’s to say Rodan couldn’t beat Ghidorah if given a opportunistic chance to take him out possibly. Big G is just the goat of his species so he doesn’t falter when others, strong as they might be, would..

Damn, I love KOTM but I really wonder how mothra wouldve acted if that “animalistic” approach to the monsters was still in there. Would she even bat an eye at the humans like she did in KOTM?
The kaiju act like cartoons in KOTM, they acted like real life animals in godzilla 2014
Mothra has always been connected to humans and protecting thm. Though it is only hinted at in KOTM with Ziyi Zhang being and coming from a line of twins calling back to the twin fairy princesses in the original movies.
@@GallowayJesse Many animals have a symbiotic relationship with others and will go as far as protecting them depending on how useful they are. If this had been the case for the Mothra species over a couple generations(which it seemingly has been, as human ancestors painted all these titans on cave walls), they would naturally start to view humans as a useful symbiotic animal important to their life cycle which were protecting the eggs over time.
Muto Prime: Now that i've beaten you... let's make *BABIES!!!*

THE way Dagon is laying down here looks like the glowing print in the new trailer! i hope they make an attempt to explain it in the movie. :)
Kind of minor, but I feel like the title is a tad inaccurate. Just because Dagon is the only other member of _Titanus Gojira_ that we're aware of doesn't mean that it was just him and Godzilla. There likely were more out there, but they were just not very numerous and maybe bred slowly.
From what I understand, it sounds like there was many of these creatures roaming the earth long ago. It's just that only dagon and Godzilla survived into more modern times
@Fermit The Krog Yep. The Godzilla species, as of the MonsterVerse, dates back to at least the Permian. So it's likely that they were a lot more numerous in the past, and gradually died out as time went on, with Godzilla being the last.
@@jurassickaiju14 I honestly cant imagine how over 25 species of giant Monsters can live on earth in their own ecosystems, even without human civilization. The world is just 2 small for these titans if you ask me.
@KaijusaurusG2K Again, there probably weren't a whole lot of them. And even then, there's still the Hollow Earth. Given that part of GvK's plot revolves around it, I'm certain we'll get some more info on how they lived.
I get the impression that Godzilla and Dagon were more or less likely long-lived members of their genus. Maybe the rarest ones are likely the most powerful of their kind possibly?

Big G was a juvenile during the Dagon Era
he is currently classed as middle-aged for his species but the big G has a mutation that allows him to adapt a bit better hence why he could take on so much and why he was able to subdue Gidorah before KOTM
Maybe Dagon fought Ghidora and locked it in ice and right after that he needed to fight the MUTO Prime so he was weak and not at full strenght.
Vlad It was definitely Godzilla, been confirmed by Dougherty, the film also makes it clear with the two creatures clearly recognizing each other & Serizawa points out their rivalry was unique. Dagon is more likely a sibling to Godzilla.
Godzilla only trapped ghidorah with some help i think cause you know godzilla cant beat ghidorah or even trap ghidorah alone but i think rodan or mothra helped godzilla to beat ghidorah and trap him there

The monsterverse is filled with some crazy shit and it’s great
I really hope they expand on this lore. Its absolutely amazing and brings a new twist to the Godzilla lore itself. Something that's embedded in reality so to speak.
First and foremost, I find the Monsterverse's lore to be some of the most fascinating out of the entire franchise. The prehistoric, superspecies concept has always been one that I've found fitting to this interpretation of Godzilla and the rest of the Toho cast. It makes me think of the G-Man as an ancient warrior, worn and aged, but fiercely driven by his duty to fight for balance and a natural sort of order. My admiration for it only grows with the more knowledge I can acquire so, a hardy 'thank you' to the Danger Bros for making Dagon's story a little more accessible!
I agree that the Godzilla species are, likely, solitary apex predators that carve out their own chunk of territory across the planet. As Jacob said, only coming together for a fight or... something more intimate. However, I would imagine this would create a sort of respectful rivalry between the various Godzillas. They're expected to handle themselves, which may be why Dagon was on his own against MUTO Prime. That and, by the time any of his brethren could've arrived to help, Dagon was infected, dying, and the Prime was gone. I don't picture Godzillas being affectionate towards their dying, but not happy about their demise either. It does make me wonder why Mothra never showed up to help, if she would've been able at the time. She might've been cocooned or incubating, but it's a thought for the void. The story of Dagon does bring up one of the few elements of the MonsterVerse that I don't quite understand.
The MUTOs are the natural competition to the Godzillas. Much like the Skullcrawlers to the Kongs. Between their EMP power, parasitic reproduction, and tag-team tactics, aside from the downright brutish Prime specimen, I can see them being fair combatants.
However, I don't quite get how the Prime is formed and the whole cycle of the MUTOs reproduction in the first place.
Where does the Prime even come from? Are the male and female MUTOs birthed from Titan carcasses siblings? Thereby creating an inherently self-destructive gene pool? If so, then why do they reproduce by forming nests instead of implanting? That would be an extreme risk to the natural balance and I understand Godzilla is there to keep it, but then how would the MUTOs from the 2014 film even maintain a population?
I dunno. It's something I've thought about but I'm just too stupid or ignorant to piece it together.
Mothra probably helped Dagon Clap Ghidora. So she was probably still an egg while this was happening.
If you want to hit me with specific questions from your comment just reply to this one.
I think that our GMan was still recovering from his previous battle from Ghidoriah
Now imagine if Dagon didn’t die and we had both to fight against ghidora or the MUTO’s in 2014

Why didn’t he just swim to some lava, get rid of the eggs and gain some extra energy/form.
Some parasite like species also release chemicals that re-program their hosts. Its possible Dagon got re-programmed to find an ideal hiding place to incubate the eggs. It is also possible that due to the intense pain Dagon felt that he wasn't able to think straight, and was left too exhausted in addition to work out where to go. One of the things pointed out is that Godzilla isn't the brightest of the titans and that while he is battle smart he isn't that intelligent in general. It is possible that Dagon didn't have the ability to think of a solution in time and when he fell he was searching for a answer.
I definitely don’t think that Dagon is the one who “sealed” Ghidorah away in Antartica. It’s most likely the people traveled to Antarctica before in order to have seen Godzilla and Ghidorah’s conflict and record it and later come across Dagon and confuse the two as the same individual. Also, in KOTM, the intense stare that Godzilla gives to Ghidorah seems too personal.
[VE] Orange Juice not really, even the director confirmed that it was Godzilla and not Dagon
Sounds like a good possibility brother great video new sub !
I like to think Dagon was older than current Godzilla and probably weaker because of its battle with ghidorah making him an easier target . Makes me wonder which one them fought kongs ancestor or was there perhaps a 3rd member who maybe didn't make it off skull island
Well in Godzilla 2014, Dr Serizawa did say the skeleton was indeed older than Godzilla and we all know that was Dagon's skeleton.
Trey Rex I think that statement was more in regards to the fact that Godzilla was just seen in the 1940’s & Dragon’s remains were too old to be him, after all its not like they could carbon date Godzilla’s scales.

Ngl I love how the monstervers is being handled. There is a crap tone of mystery, quiet a bit of it being inherently with it being about big giant monsters. Also the monsters not directly interacting with humans (or seeking out interaction) makes it when the monsters are seen by humans that more exciting. While I think in reality most of the monsters don't seek out to destroy us or intentionally hurt us. (Explained in godzilla king of the monsters), with auto leads to questions about why a monster would attack humans or why they are defending them. I love the monstervers that W.B and Toho have created. (also would like to note the body language when the monsters interact with one another leads to a in heartily a lot of funny interactions)
Dragon is Godzilla’s uncle swear
Imagine dagon is the thing on skull island just recovering and becoming evil of sorts
I theorized, that G-man was coming to Dagons aid as fast as he could, but didnt get there in time to help. When he could find neither Dagon nor the Muto-Prime, where Dagon had called for help, not knowing what had happened, he started searching for the Muto-Prime to make sure it was dead and if not carry on for Dagon or aid him if the fight was still going. Leaving the G-Man to travel around the planet for years on end trying to find either, before deciding to rest in his hideout.
Then by 2014 he comes back as he feels the presence of Muto's.
After he succeded in killing them he traces back where they came from and finds Dagons remains and as we know the G-man has emotions, so i guess he would mourn his fallen comrade for a while, before returning to his hideout
