Adults used to shove us aside in dance hall as they danced to this one. You just cannot rewind time. I'm now 45 yet I was hardly 13 then. The sad thing is that the likes of Awino Lawi, George Ramogi, Nelly etc will never be replaced.
Haggai, nothing soothes one's heart as one winds up life's ladder than to recall some of the best moments one has had, including friends and relatives. These were indeed the most memorable days.
yayee OJ, and the soprano voice of Awino Lawi...kweli some of this music is timeless...I remember the house parties that used to be held in the afternoons and if we dare go near those 'simbas' we could get a thorough beating
Pesh.....Nyithindo were to gather around the #DERO.....and have you ever wondered why......That was the only location close enough to the Simba that one would have an excuse to at.
Yawa josem dhiuru moss kudho ni mbele kanyo. i used to listen to this back then was very little kid it now that this song is making sense to me after barely 25 years. quality music lives forever.
Tinde thumbe gi onge old good days all legends are gone the likes of collela mazee, Awino Lawi, Okatch biggy, opiyo bilongo, Oching kabaselle, D.OMissiani
Jackson, Thanks for posting this. Some of your postings are unique, it is like you really dig them out. Anyway this Lawi recording is a true BENGA tune. These days they no longer play Benga. This was based on traditional Luo beats. You can sense the heavy influence of Odongo "catapilar" in Bass and Odham Wembe in Rythm guitar " (mos na Odhis) and Colly in Solo guitar. These were the best of the best in Benga. Stem, you should also listen to OJ's other post of "Nango waromo" by Collela Mazee. That one is full of educational material.
@@benardaugo2195 Correct this is VC. Composed by Charles Juma, vocals include Lawi, Wasonga, Juma. I believe Owije was the main solo player at the time.
I got to hear this song from my father for the very first time. He was singing this song as as we plough. It also happens that my mum is Mary. My father he's a good singer so I had to cram this song to date😂.
Ayie go. Hii ni kali kweli, we realy have lost good musicians thank you Onyango weka zingine thumbs up. entertainment, wisdom and teaching. ma e maisha "omera inyono kudho dog chien" puonj ma oling' thi tinde thum onge puonj to rythm odhi kure. RIP in peace Awino Lawi
Already here. Am glad that i got this and several others. Good teachings for all classes of people. These are those songs that can be listened by everyone without being embarrassed. They have moral values. Thumbs up my people.
