    For those wandering if it's Chinese rubbish...I've had one for 5 years in my boat in the UK, I live aboard full time and I run this on 12v solar from April to end of September...and via an inverter using the 240v adapter supplied September to march (English weather fun), its by far the best mobile freezer I've ever used in my 11 years living on the boat...I tend to run it to it's max low temp during the daytime and then evening I let it run higher to save energy on my pair of 135aph lead acid leisure batteries

      Yes you can, there is a setting on the fridge itself but the app (connect via bluetooth) makes any setting changes much easier.

    I have a Goal Zero Yeti 200x Power Station with a Nomad 50 Solar Panel and use it to power the Alpicool C20 portable refrigerator I bought on a Lightning deal on Amazon for $160. Off of the 200x battery power I get between 6 and 7 hours max, depending on the ambient temperature. The 200x can be solar charging and run the fridge at the same time, which is great for daytime hours, and as the sun sets, it kicks back into battery only mode. The Alpicool runs at about 25 to 35 Watts once cooled down. The Solar Panel charges about 45 Watts in full sun and with this setup, the 200x is usually fully charged by the end of the day, even in partial sun. I would have liked to have had the 500x model to have more battery life, however, it was cost prohibitive for me, perhaps in the future. For now, I also have a 12v cigarette lighter connection to my truck and I will run the fridge off of it for the few hours in the evening, then put it on the 200x for overnight. If I set the temp on the fridge to Eco mode at 20 degrees it will run on the 200x battery for up to 7 hours overnight. Overall I am very impressed with the build quality and the usability of such a small system, but it's too soon to tell about the reliability longer term. For those that asked, It does have customization for the min and max temp, C or F degree display, and along with the Max and Eco mode, it also has a regulator which shuts the unit down once it reaches a min voltage while running on battery. At the 20F setting, drinks and meats stay frozen on the bottom, and the top part of the fridge keeps things cold without freezing on top.

    Thanks for the review. Not many reviews on Alpicool coolers that I can find. Is it still running?
    I drive trucks and my truck has no room for an actual fridge so I got one of these. I plan to put it on the top bunk and use it for extra meats and frozen foods. I have a separate electric cooler that I keep in a cubby for veggies, meal prepped leftovers, and meats that I plan to cook within a couple days. Looking forward to being able to have ice cream again!

    Alpicool actually created the 12v compressor chest coolers. Not sure how you missed that and ran in to the Dometics first. Actually, I recently discovered that almost ALL of the 12v compressor chest coolers on the market today are manufactured by Alpicool, they're just sold here under different names.
    For example, the one you bought is actually the first one they ever made.. 6 years ago now? Maybe more. Anyway, the only difference is that the original ones had all white cases. People instantly complained that their drinks didn't fit, and that it should have had a bit taller lid. They introduced the C20, which is the same unit with a taller lid mere weeks later.
    I've discovered that the current models sold by Alpicool aren't even in the U.S. market yet. I assume Amazon and conglomerates are trying to sell off all of their old stock first.

    • @njtexit8
      @njtexit8 Před 4 lety

      Looks like Alpicool only sells on Amazon. Bummer. And not all the models. Another bummer.

    I've got a 25L model K25 car fridge freezer without brand stamp mark on in New Zealand. Not found from the package either. But I was told the brand was Alpicool. I tested it twice In room temperature at 19degrees. after loading full of frozen stuff i connected this portable freezer at home power socket, about one hour later the freezer temperature went down to -20 (didn't test it with empty condition) , but then temperature went up 1 degree every 1.5 minutes roughly. It takes 6 minutes go up to -15 and tempreture dropped again. And it takes 6 minutes tempreture went down to -20. I made this test twice, which means it takes roughly 13.5 minutes to run one cycle from -20 to -15 and back to -20 again. During this time the compressor will only stop working for 2 minutes, when it reaches -20 compressor stops noise and holds for 2 minutes silently, as soon as it go up to -18 the compressor starts working again. Then I disconnected the freezer at -20 for 3.5 hours and plug in again, tempreture was only 1 degree that loose temperature far too fast. If someone needs an extra freezer at home you better buy a chest freezer (it hold temp a lot longer if you got power shut occasionally). portable car freezer makes too much noise as well, might be annoying in the quiet night, but only convenient when go out.

    I got the 15 liter two days ago. The instructions were horrible. There was nothing about changing from centigrade to Fahrenheit. Bluetooth paring was not covered well and the app you need to download gets poor reviews. I never could get it to work on my iPhone. After 24 hours of operation it only lowered the temp from 75 to 69 then it stopped cooling completely. I tried to return it to Amazon but they will not take it back because it’s 3rd party. Now I have to deal with a Chinese company which has 3 days to get back to me. Then Amazon can file a claim but I’ll probably get stuck with shipping this thing back. I’m very sorry I ever got started with this purchase. Somethings you should just not get through the mail.

      @@madelectronengineering ah cool I have done a tiny bit of experimenting with some lasers I got and solder and found that they melt the solder with incredible ease, this might seem humdrum and expected but what might surprise is that the lasers are 405nm 2.5W (2500mW) laser diodes, and they did so with out being fully focused so my guess is that focus down but through a grid so that several dots around the size of typical SMD pads should yield molten solder quickly on all pads on a side, and I have two of these lasers lol, also I expect that lazing off etchant resistant and then after acid bath, I can revisit them and burn all through holes once there is no copper in the way, so I have been wanting to try using copper shim material (.003 or even .0015 to .002 inches thick) on kapton tape to make both flexible and multi-layered PCBs this way, will definitely have to post some videos when I get done.
