I've watched a number of these East Side Kids / Bowery Boys movies and I have to say that the story in this one really stands out as exceptionally enjoyable. Mr. Cortland and his daughter are both great and the way Muggs responds and gets protective of them is genuinely heartwarming.

the 1940's Even though I wasn't around in the 40's I watched these movies in the 60's. Now it's a half century later and I'm still watching them. Thank goodness for You Tube and the people who post these great old films.

Leo Gorcey's real life father, Bernard arrives to deliver mail! Years later he would play Louie Dumbrowski in the Bowery Boys movies.

Sunshine Sammy Morrison, that was his stage name. Real first name Ernie/Earnest, but everyone called him by his stage name. He was great, looked very sharp in his suit in the Ghosts On The Loose episode when Glimpy’s sister gets married. The boys were cute doing their singing bit, as was Scruno and Glimpy’s little dance ditty. I sometimes get the titles mixed up, bc Bela Lugosi was in that one and Spooks Gone Wild, the two that involved a haunted house theme.

Another member missing is Donald Haines. He was the red headed guy with curly hair. He was killed in North Africa in 1943 during WW2. Like Sunshine Sammy he had also been in Roach's "Our Gang."
